Welcome![edit]

Hello, ManasMadrechaSP, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of your edits to the page Jainism have not conformed to Wikipedia's verifiability policy, and may be removed if they have not yet been. Wikipedia articles should refer only to facts and interpretations that have been stated in print or on reputable websites or other forms of media. Always remember to provide a reliable source for quotations and for any material that is likely to be challenged, or it may be removed. Wikipedia also has a related policy against including original research in articles. Additionally, all new biographies of living people must contain at least one reliable source.

Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, ManasMadrechaSP. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. NeilN talk to me 20:13, 2 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Panoramic View of Building of S. E. S. High School and Junior College.jpg[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Panoramic View of Building of S. E. S. High School and Junior College.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 12:12, 7 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:Panoramic View of Building of S. E. S. High School and Junior College.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Panoramic View of Building of S. E. S. High School and Junior College.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 15:48, 9 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free rationale for File:Students Awating for guest during Dimensions fest.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Students Awating for guest during Dimensions fest.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Disambiguation link notification for May 2[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Gabbar is Back, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page PWD. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Your recent edits[edit]

Hello! It's great that you want to help out with checking new pages, but you might want to ease up on your tagging. You put a BLP (that is Biography of Living Persons) on Joseph Muter who died in 1840. And I'd like to know what kind of material in Hey Gorgeous can be viewed as autobiography, unreferenced, promotional or how you thought it was a biography when it is about a TV-show. I also saw that on Well-field system you added a tag that was already there. I see you have just started to use the Wikipedia:Page Curation, perhaps you should learn to control it more before curating more articles since this might be what is causing all this. w.carter-Talk 11:37, 4 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Just to add to what W.carter says above, incorrectly tagging new articles discourages editors from creating others, which are the life blood of the Encyclopedia. You need to become much more familiar with Wikipedia policies before you attempt new page patrol.  Philg88 talk 12:25, 4 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
And in this edit on Kudi, India you:
  1. added {{stub}} to an article which already had a specific stub tag of {{Varanasi-geo-stub}}
  2. tagged a once-sentence stub as (a)having too long a lead, (b)needing sections, (c)needing reorganisation, (d)needing more references and (e)being dependent on a single source. One and only one of the last two might have been justifiable: the first three are completely inappropriate.
Please take more care. Adding inappropriate tags just makes more work for other editors, and is a net negative to the encyclopedia. PamD 13:40, 4 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Your reasons for suggesting speedy deletion of Harrison Hanley were all inappropriate:
  1. There was context - the lead sentence describes him, even without the addition of the infobox.
  2. It was not advertising, but a simple statement of his existence and the team he plays for
  3. Playing for a club in the 2nd level of Finnish football is a credible indication of his importance.
If you do not understand the criteria for Speedy Deletion, please do not waste other editors' time by nominating articles for deletion. Please slow down, read more guidelines and instructions, and take more care to get things right. Thanks. PamD 13:49, 4 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Manas Madrecha[edit]

Hello AlwaysHappy,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Manas Madrecha for deletion, because it seems to be inappropriate for a variety of reasons.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Josu4u (talk) 19:04, 22 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

talk page guidelines[edit]

Please read WP:Talk page guidelines. You must not edit other editors' comments, even on your own talk page, except in certain narrow circumstances. To do so gives the impression that they wrote "X" when they actually wrote "Y" and can cause great confusion, offence, etc. You are allowed to delete other editors' postings, where they have not been replied to by further editors, and also to delete whole threads - athough all these will still be visible in the talk page history, of course. Please take the time to learn the rules of the Wikipedia editing community. Thank you. PamD 16:57, 25 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks a lot, for this detailed explanation, PamD (talk · contribs) AlwaysHappy (talk) 11:41, 26 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest?[edit]

Wikipedia defines, at WP:COI: "Conflict of interest (COI) editing involves contributing to Wikipedia about yourself, family, friends, clients, employers, or your financial or other relationships."

Please answer this question: Do you have a Conflict of interest, as defined above, when you edit about Manas Madrecha? PamD 17:02, 25 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Nope, it's not the case of autobiography. But if the doubt of COI arose after seeing the old username, then there's no such conflict, the clarification being, the person is known to me, as me being a fan (though not personally, as he does not know me).AlwaysHappy (talk) 11:41, 26 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Also, the person being discussed is none of the following - "yourself, family, friends, clients, employers" and have no "financial or other relationships" with me.AlwaysHappy (talk) 12:42, 26 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
If he is not a friend or a member of your family, indeed not personally known to you, how is it that the photo File:Manas Madrecha at Suraj Water Park, Thane.jpg is listed as your own work, and taken when he was at a wedding in January 2015? PamD 14:10, 26 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It was a wedding of one of the Thane's politician's son in January 2015, where I sighted him and this photo was taken. He is a popular face, and I shot him in my camera.AlwaysHappy (talk) 11:34, 28 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
And how do you explain the fact that the same photo is shown on Manas Madrecha's page at http://tofo.me/manasmadrecha ? Did he ask your permission to add your photo to his page, or has he just ignored your copyright in the image? PamD 21:56, 28 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The reference is a collection of images all over the internet. I don't remember anyone seeking my permission, but it may be that my copyright was ignored. However, my copyright does grant anyone to share (copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format) and adapt (remix, transform, and build upon the material) the image, for any purpose, even commercially; also, there are other provisions like You do not have to comply with the license for elements of the material in the public domain. So, if we take all these into consideration, then even my copyright wasn't ignored, save for giving me the attribution for my work. AlwaysHappy (talk) 22:12, 29 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  3. The list of participants has been alphabetized so you can more easily find your name and report your contributions.
  4. There is a template that you can use on your user page. {{Template:User Asian Month‎}}

November 2015[edit]

Information icon Your recent edit to List of poets appears to have added the name of a non-notable entity to a list that normally includes only notable entries. In general, a person or organization added to a list should have a pre-existing article before being added to most lists. If you wish to create such an article, please first confirm that the subject qualifies for a separate, stand-alone article according to Wikipedia's notability guideline. Thank you. Asian 10,000 Challenge invite[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 01:07, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation from Wikipedia Asian Month 2016[edit]

Thanks for partipating Wikipedia Asian Month last year, and I hope you enjoy it. Last year, more than 7,000 articles contribute to Wikipedia in 43 languages in Wikipedia Asian Month, making us one of the largest event on Wikipedia. We will organize this event again in upcoming November, and would like to invite you join us again.

This year, we are lowering down the standards that you only need to create 4 (Four) articles to receive a postcard (new design), and articles only need to be more than 3,000 bytes and 300 words. We are also improving our postcard sending process, e.g. making the postcards right now, and collecting the address after the event ends without waiting other languges.

Wikipedians who create the most articles on each Wikipedia will be honored as "Wikipedia Asian Ambassadors". We will send you both digital copy, and a paper copy of the Ambassador certificate.

Thank you for considering! --AddisWang (talk)

New deal for page patrollers[edit]

Hi AlwaysHappy,

In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.

Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.

Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:28, 13 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If you've been contributing to the contest, thank you for your support, we've produced over 2000 articles. If you haven't contributed yet, we would appreciate you taking the time to add entries to our articles achievements list by the end of the month. Thank you, and if participating, good luck with the finale!
