Edits to Mal Brough regarding the Northern Territory Emergency Response

Hi,

You recently removed an edit I made to page: Mal Brough regarding the Northern Territory Emergency Response. As the single biggest event in Mal's political career to date, it is certainly valid. I referenced an article on 'The Conversation' written by a university lecturer and based on the work on internationally renowned journalist, John Pilger. I also cited a 'Fact Check' article from SBS broadcasting. Both have their own editorial boards.

Is there any reason my edit can not be returned?

Thank you

Hi, it appears that the same person who originally added the information has readded it to the article. The section in the lead appears unnesseacry as it is also included very soon in the main body of the article. It might be worth removing it from the lead.
If the edits were added back by yourself you should be careful as editing while logged out may give the impression you are using multiple accounts to edit wether intentional or not. Amortias (T)(C) 00:47, 1 February 2015 (UTC)

Hi, I'm new to this so sorry for any inconsistencies with using the system. Is this how I'm meant to reply to you? I just added an account after editing but will complete future edits while logged in. I added one line about the Northern Territory Emergency Response to the lead as it is the single biggest event in his political career and of greater impact than other points in the lead. Thanks

S. J. Singer Wikipedia entry

Dear Amortias, In response to your question: Two references are included in the sentence I added to the S.J. Singer article. They refer to articles by me (John Lenard) and S.J. Singer that were published in two highly prestigious scientific journals: Proceedings of the National Academy of Scienes, USA, and Science. They are dated 1966 and 1968, hence pre-date the first "fluid mosaic" publications by several years. Their veracity can be easily checked should you wish to do so. In fact, Garth took up the membrane project after I left the laboratory; hence, I have called these first two papers on membrane protein structure from the Singer lab "foundational", because they did in fact form the basis for Garth's excellent subsequent work. I hope this is satisfactory. If there are any problems please contact me at johnlenardnoo@gmail.com. ≈≈≈≈John Lenard

Hi, the references put in on the first occassion wernt constructed correctly for them to show as refernce on the article hence the revision, they now appear to have been entered correclty so this should suffice. Amortias (T)(C) 19:43, 1 February 2015 (UTC)

February 2015, Pierce Brosnan

Well, sir, if you noticed as I've submitted modifications on the page GoldenEye: Rogue Agent and anything regarding to that of Pierce Brosnan's presence is absolutely a myth started by the fandom. In fact, Brosnan was never collaborated either with likeness nor voice in that video game. It all is a subject that belongs to Jason Carter instead who handled the role of Bond/007 in that entry. Feel free to reply. Thank you, and much obliged for the notification. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ZeroMinusTen (talkcontribs) 13:01, 7 February 2015 (UTC)

Hi, if the information is incorrect then please feel free to remove it. The reaosn it was reverted is that no explanation was given in the edit summary to explain why the information was removed. Even better if you have a source that shows this was Jason Carter that would pretty much prove it. Amortias (T)(C) 13:05, 7 February 2015 (UTC)
Greetings, sir. On this page, that I do have a link to, shows footage of the character with the name 'generic' sculptured upon. I don't currently have a footage of the credits that appear on the video game where Jason Carter's name was enlisted. But, it is written on the game's IMDB page, in voice. As for the link, it is an interview with one of the writers who never mentioned Brosnan's existence in the project at all. Howeverm that single image, if compared to Carter's portrait, will be a proof, in my honest opinion. An interview with the game's writer. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ZeroMinusTen (talkcontribs) 13:21, 7 February 2015 (UTC)

Sorry, you can't use A7 on an album. You can use G12 on a copyvio, however, and I've just tagged it for that. The style was too professional-reviewer for my liking, so I Googled a bit of it... Always worth a try with things like that. Peridon (talk) 18:31, 7 February 2015 (UTC)

Rewards Of Do It Yourself Aquaponics

Interesting one. Definite art-spam - but when I went to the author's page, it read

Hi, everybody! My name is Leonore.
It is a little about myself: I live in Netherlands, my city of Sint Joost.
It's called often Eastern or cultural capital of LI. I've married 3 years ago.
I have two children - a son (Alena) and the daughter (Lashay). We all like Roller Derby.
Here is my page xxxxx.xxx

That sort of thing on a user page normally means spambot. (Note that the name given doesn't match the user name which was SabinaMorrow.) They often just have the user page, but some do post an article too. I've indeffed it without allowing talk page access, and deleted the user page too. The 'personal details' are almost always as banal as this. Peridon (talk) 22:31, 7 February 2015 (UTC)

I have noticed a higer than (what I normally see) number of spam creaping up over the last week or so. Think were going to need a bigger mop. Amortias (T)(C) 22:36, 7 February 2015 (UTC)

Reverse Translatase as a mechanism for generating antibody specificity

This may not be a great article but could you explain what you think the copyright issue is?©Geni (talk) 23:56, 7 February 2015 (UTC)

Hi, the page itself reads (to me) as an introduction to a piece of work or potential journal article. This seems more likely with the specific method that the article is signed off at the bottom. I havent had chance yet to go looking for the page in question. I can probably have a look shortly but figured it was better bringing it to the attention fo peple a bit more experienced in this matter. Amortias (T)(C) 00:22, 8 February 2015 (UTC)
Can I suggest using Template:Cv-unsure for that in future cases? In this case I think the style issues are just due to the way the author writes.©Geni (talk) 01:02, 8 February 2015 (UTC)
Noted, wasnt aware of that template. Amortias (T)(C) 01:04, 8 February 2015 (UTC)

Two minutes after you left your message on my user page, I replied there: "I am not sure about the first but must say that you are correct about failing to meet WP:GNG." Narmer

I happened across your reversion at Narmer, and I don't think it was justified. The IP editor did cite a source, and although it may not have been perfectly formatted, it is recognizably a journal article. BIFAO (though the IP misspelled the acronym) is the Bulletin de l'Institut français d'archéologie orientale, a prestigious Egyptological journal. The particular study that the IP cited is visible here. I can't read the French, but it looks like it probably supports the IP's claim. A. Parrot (talk) 21:13, 7 February 2015 (UTC)

Hi A. Parrot, I couldnt find the study that the IP had mentioned (probably as the acronym was mispelt) so reverted it as unsourced and left the IP use advice on how to reference. If your able to restore it with the correct place cited I'd have no issue with that. Amortias (T)(C) 21:16, 7 February 2015 (UTC)
Just to confirm (as I can read French): this is a valid journal article reporting very important discoveries concerning Iry-Hor, Narmer and Memphis. This article is also cited in the articles on Memphis and Iry-Hor. Iry-Hor (talk) 09:02, 8 February 2015 (UTC)

Hello Amortias. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Diamond and the Fosters Novel and Feature Film, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: I don't think we can really apply A7 to this; the film could come under "web" as it's on Youtube, but it has also been shown at festivals, and there is a book. Thank you. JohnCD (talk) 22:10, 8 February 2015 (UTC)

Fair enough. Thanks for the update. Amortias (T)(C) 22:11, 8 February 2015 (UTC)
I'll probably AfD this, unless you get there first - the book is vanity-published, and the "feature film" on Youtube is half a dozen segments of ten minutes or so, with a few thousand views each. JohnCD (talk) 22:13, 8 February 2015 (UTC)

Hi there. Addison Lee

Hi. I assume that your speedy deletion nomination of Addison Lee was a mistake? I cannot see any way in which it is an attack page, nor in which the "courtesy blanking" was appropriate. Thanks and best wishes DBaK (talk) 22:43, 13 February 2015 (UTC)

Yeah was my bad not checking the page history, if it has been a new page it would have looked like a fairly ambigious negative attack on someone but looking at the history was simple vandalism by an IP, page blanking was done when I tagged it as an attac page on Twinkle so was all part of the same. Will count this as todays cock-up. Amortias (T)(C) 22:45, 13 February 2015 (UTC)

You said I created it and I didn't create it also if I find sourced material can I revert the edit since Vanessa Kirby didn't play the role. Also, I am going to change it on imdb so be patient.2607:FB90:240E:DC2C:3C59:9538:5DD:7E98 (talk) 02:25, 14 February 2015 (UTC)

IMDB isnt considered a reliable source as anyone can change it, you would need something similar to the official movies website, a press release confirming she played this part or something in a newspaper article. Your additions are also not being referenced correctly so please see this page for advice on how to include inline citations to back up the claims made by an article. Wolfvet (talk) 18:52, 9 February 2015 (UTC)

Hi Wolfvet. Best practice when dding people to these lists is that they require an article of thier own before being added to prevent the lists being full of red links. If you can create the article then add him to the list that would suffice as the individuals notability would then be suitably confirmed. Hope that helps but if you need anything else let me know. User:Mabelina

Hi there: ever since I fell out of favour (a propos of PurpleHz) with French Wiki my edits have been interfered with. I can't explain why - maybe you can? M Mabelina (talk) 12:35, 15 February 2015 (UTC) PS. PurpleHz's edits are dreadful btw....
PS. not sure how this interlinking is supposed to work?

Hi Mabelina, unfortunatley as I'm not an administrator i cant review the article that was previously deleted. What might be a useful way forward would be to request its undeletion as per this page this will give you the process to have the article recreated as a draft that will allow you to work on it without the risk of it being deleted. Once you are happy with it as a draft it can then be submitted for review to allow experienced editors to give you advice on its development (if necessary) or move it to the main wikipedia pages. This will give you as much time as necessary to get everything in order prior to its publication.
With regards to interlinking are you referring to the method used to create links between pages, if so guidance can be found here comonly referred to as Wikilinking.Amortias (T)(C) 12:41, 15 February 2015 (UTC)
No I'm not really referring to that -I'm simply referring to the fact that ever since I had anything to do with French Wiki it has been a nightmare - despite the fact that French Wiki is majorly deficient - but they won't be helped.... M Mabelina (talk) 12:45, 15 February 2015 (UTC)
How to get trolls like PurpleHz off my back?
If you believe that an editor is harassing you or being generally disruptive to the project the best place to report this would be WP:ANI. You'll need to provide evidence of what they have been doing through diffs. This will allow other editors to review what has been going on and take action to assist if possible. You can request waht action you would like taken but the decision on what action will be up to those looking at the issue. They may be able to propose an interaction ban which will prevent this editor interacting with you , this will also require you to not interact with them though. There are other otpions available but the outcome will depend on what action is appropriate. Amortias (T)(C) 12:51, 15 February 2015 (UTC)

Why have you voluntarily changed my wiki page?

Dear Amoritas

My wiki page has had references to primary sources and out of date sources along with source material that has been made about me that is not true. The person who continues to link these sources does not understand theory and fiction from fact and therefore says that this how I beluieve when it is what I theorize or expound on. I removed them because wiki stated that there were too many references to primary sources. Why did you put them back? Please remove them....

Thank you

Hi, unfortunatley we have no way of confirming you are actually Clyde Lewis from what is available to me. Some of what you removed was indeed primary sourced, some of it however was not. If there is cause to doubt the factuality of some of the information then this would best be dealt with by either providing a source to counter the argument or if not possible contacting the team who deal with requests regarding individuals that would benefit from being disputed by individuals in question. They can be contacted through the Wikimedia Foundation's team of volunteers at info-en-q@wikimedia.org, with a link to the page in question and details of the problem. Why did you modify my page?

Hi, I am new, I just created a test page about myself. I received a message that you had removed lines that you deemed commercial or advertising. There is nothing commercial there, I am desxcribing hobbies, I make my income as an attoreney, not via anything on or mentioned in my wikipedia page. As such, I believe there is nothing objectionable there. If you disagree, please let me know your reasning.

Thanks, Phillip — Preceding unsigned comment added by Phillip pippenger (talkcontribs) 21:39, 15 February 2015 (UTC)

Hi Phillip, the page you created is a user page designed to tell us about yourself, which you have done. There are several policies about promotional links, the links you posted advising people to look for more information at sites that belong to yourself can be considered promotional (even if not for financial gain). This is to ensure that every page is as neutral as possible.
If you wish to make a page for testing there is a link on most pages in top right labelled sandbox where you can test as much as you want before adding information to the main pages of Wikipedia.
I noticed that you have also attempted to add some images from your PC to the page in question which unfortunatley havent been uploaded correctly. If you wish to upload images to place on your userpage you will need to upload them using the file upload wizard before you can add them to your userpage.
Hope this helps and clarifies things. Amortias (T)(C) 21:48, 15 February 2015 (UTC)

I am not sure what "promotional" means if it is used in that way. I am certainly promoting knowledge, but every page is. I am certainly citing a source, as is expected. I could take the information that I reference and put it bodily into the Wikipedia page, and I assume that would somehow transform it into nonpromotional material? Of course, then people checking Wikipedia will not have any pointer to updated information. So it is just a little confusing, since in either case, I can't see what's being promotoed. If its simply a "know it when I see it" rule, I would suggest that clear definitions applied in a consistent and predictable manner would be more appropriate for a community endeavor. Phillip pippenger (talk) 21:59, 15 February 2015 (UTC)

Hi Phillip,
The best place to look would be to have a read of this page specifically item 4. If there was concern for an editor to think these links were promotional as I did then there is potential for others to feel the same and also remove them. If you wish to place the links again then an alternative would be to rephrase the section to include something about it being a hobby (possibly a subheading or other such section break) so as to remove the risk of it being misunderstood as promotional. Amortias (T)(C) 22:07, 15 February 2015 (UTC)

When you put it that way, I guess I understand, its sort of a slippery slope fear. Thanks for the clarification and for your insight as to rephrasing.Phillip pippenger (talk) 02:26, 16 February 2015 (UTC)

Funky melodies

I actually am trying to create a wikipedia page for my company. Im not sure how to do this? And for you to say its against guidelines is confusing since netflix, apple and many other companies have there own wikipedia page. So if you can tell me how to create one like they did, I would greatly apprecaite it — Preceding unsigned comment added by Funky Melodies (talkcontribs) 20:46, 16 February 2015 (UTC)

Hi, Wikipedia doesnt allow you to directly publish a page about your own company as there is a conflict of interest. if you wish to create this page you will need to do it through the article creation process. In the same way Apple and Netflix werent able to create their own pages.
You are crrently hosting the article in your userpage, this is a page designed to let us know about yourself rather than your company. Having a username that appears to be a company is also a violation of the username policies. You can request a change of username to resolve this issue on this page. If you wish you can move your userpage to a draft space where you can work on it and then submit it for review prior to its publication. If you are unsure how to move it I can move your page for you if you would prefer. Amortias (T)(C) 20:54, 16 February 2015 (UTC)

Chinese Architect Yansong Ma's marital Status update

Dear Amortias,

On Feburary 14, 2015, I added Yansong Ma's Marital Status and found it was being deleted for being un-sourced. I am sorry that I couldn't provide any reference other than that I am one of his family friend and happen to know that his marital status.

I am totally fine with my edits being deleted but would really appreciate that one day, this information could be added after you guys validation.

Thank you very much and Happy Chinese New Year to you!

The names?

Oh really? if you don't mind, can you please share those translations with me too?Yagmurlukorfez (talk) 00:04, 18 February 2015 (UTC)

I'll have to wait a day or so as they were run past a linguist colleague of mine. The names (if it shows anything) tend to make me think theres less chance of your account being related as the socks names translate from a range of languages that arent closely related. I did mention that its a tenuous link at best. A checkuser certainly wouldnt discern a link on a 20% chance so an administrator will hopefully come to the same conclusion. Amortias (T)(C) 00:10, 18 February 2015 (UTC)
Well, all right then. Thanks. :)Yagmurlukorfez (talk) 00:14, 18 February 2015 (UTC)
Pardon my ignorance, but i fail to grasp the purpose of this name analysis? If you're trying to determine weather User:Yagmurlukorfez and User:Tirgil34 have Turkish links, the fact that both Yagmurlukorfez and Tirgil34 have accounts on the Turkish WP[1][2] (and the German WP)[3][4] might be of interest. He has also held conversations in Turkish with a blocked Tirgil34 sock User:Hirabutor on the socks' talk page. Krakkos (talk) 00:52, 18 February 2015 (UTC)
Hi Krakkos, when I've had dealings with other socks there tends to be some link behind their name (unless its a random combination). Looking at the names of the confirmed socks as one way of linking them there were links between groups of the names but none that linked them back to Yagmurlukorfez. Several of the names when broken down could be translated into several languages with similar endings but there was no obvious link to Yagmurlukorfez. Although not a guarantee that their not related this name doesnt appear to follow any of the patterns noted in the confirmed socks. Amortias (T)(C) 01:00, 18 February 2015 (UTC)
