Alleged Abusive Editing.

Hello,

I just received notification from you and one other user that edits I allegedly made for Issaquah High School had been changed back for being abusive.

I haven't made any edits to any article. I think I have an account, but it would have been years since I last logged into it. I know nothing about Issaquah High School, other than that I live two hours away from it.

Not only that, but when I opened Wikipedia it wasn't logged into my or anyone else's account. It was 100% logged out(and it has always been logged out on the four devices I would have used from home to access it.) so I'm wondering how anyone would have been able to hack my account in the first place, or how I'd receive your message while logged out. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.24.219.155 (talk) 02:12, 3 June 2016 (UTC)

June 2016 Guild of Copy Editors Newsletter

Guild of Copy Editors June 2016 News

Hello everyone, welcome to the June 2016 GOCE newsletter. It's been a few months since we sent one out; we hope y'all haven't forgotten about the Guild! Your coordinators have been busy behind the scenes as usual, though real life has a habit of reducing our personal wiki-time. The May backlog reduction drive, the usual coordinating tasks and preparations for the June election are keeping us on our toes!

May drive: Thanks to everyone who participated in last month's record-setting backlog reduction drive. Of the 29 people who signed up, 16 copyedited at least one article, 197 copyedits were recorded on the drive page, and the copyedit backlog fell below 1,500 for the first time! Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here.

June Blitz: this one-week copy-editing blitz will occur from 12 June through 18 June; the themes will be video games and Asian geography.

Coordinator elections: It's election time again; how quickly they seem to roll around! Nominations for the next tranche of Guild coordinators, who will serve a six-month term that begins at 00:01 UTC on 1 July and ends at 23:59 UTC on 31 December, opens at 00:01 UTC on 1 June and closes at 23:59 UTC on 15 June. Voting takes place between 00:01 UTC on 16 June and 23:59 UTC on 30 June. If you'd like to assist behind the scenes, please consider stepping forward; self-nominations are welcomed and encouraged. All Wikipedia editors in good standing are eligible; remember it's your Guild, and it doesn't run itself!

van der Stok - War Pilot of Orange

Thanks for your editing. I'm not going to become a Wikipedia contributor or struggle to make my comment/note/observation public. If you can or care to fix it up for me, please do so. I worked on web site development for years, so I do know something about it, but I don't want to spend a lot of time developing a skill I will never use.

I'm not sure what you mean about a citation. What I was trying to do was to enter a 3rd note in that section - no luck getting it to number correctly. In his autobiography (War Pilot of Orange), Chapter 7, van der Stok refers to the famous Wooden Horse escape from Stalag Luft III, which took place while he was there. But he says that the three escapers were captured immediately. This is just so astonishingly contrary to everything we know about the escape that I thought it deserved comment. The Wikipedia page devoted to author Eric Williams (who was one of the three and wrote the famous book) is here:

I don't know what else you desire in terms of citations. van der Stok's book speaks for itself - that's what he wrote (1987, ISBN 0-933126-89-1). There was only one such escape, no possible confusion there. And the story of the escape is so well known it is as though he said that Lincoln was shot, but did not die.

For what it's worth, van der Stok's book is very good. Do what you want with this information and thank you.

The article you have created needs some work to show how the person it is about meets our requirements for notability. Wikipedia requires that all articles show using third party reliable sources that the person is notable enough to be included. Notability and importance are not always the same. There are some specific criteria for musicians, these can be found here. If you can find suitable references that confirm the requirements of these points then there is a chance the article may be able to be maintained. Find the evidence to meet those requirements, add them to the page then get back to me. (Please note I'm on UK time so if I don't respond I'm either asleep or at work). Bureaucracy alert

Hi Amortias, hope you're well - pardon my bureaucracy but the G1 tags you added to a couple of user pages (such as User talk:ShrekV) do not apply to pages in the user namespace.   2. Misclicking when cleaning up some vandalism, if you looked I realised what I did and self reverted to the last good version.

You didn't misclick, you misused Rollback. The last good version was clearly this one[1]. Instead of then using Rollback properly, on yourself, you made an edit which kept the blatantly false year of birth. No two ways about it. This edit has no swearing in it. The first one yes was an error if you believe it was a misuse of rollback you would be best placed to raise it at ANI and we can hold a discussion there about it as that's an appropriate forum for it. If when trying to fix it I screwed up then yep I screwed up twice in one night it happens. The second abuse of rollback as you advised of was against a vandalism only account whos edits i was in the processing of clearing up prior to an admin nuking the majority of them. AKA MBG, if you believe this article should be deleted there are three options available to you to request this. You can tag it for speedy deletion if you feel the article meets the criteria listed there, secondly you could propose its deletion where if after 7 days no objections are raised it may be deleted, or finally you coudl raise a reques at articles for deletion where a 7 day period of discussion can be held to determine if the article should remain.
