Picture of Oxya japonica is actually Gesonula sp.

Hi, I'd like to point out that the picture is a Gesonula species. The picture can be replaced with one showing Oxya japonica. The antenna of Gesonula is long and banded. Under the knees of the hind legs on the tibia, there is often a small red pigmentation in Gesonula species. It is likely present in that specimen. so I believe it is a Gesonula. Gesonula are very often found on yam leaves and leaves of some pond plants often in small groups. It can be mistaken for Oxya japonica because its wings also exceeds the length of its tail by maybe a few mm. Oxya japonica is called the Long-winged Rice grasshopper. Besides that, Oxya chinensis also looks similar generally, except maybe the wings are shorter, about the same length as the tail. There are several dozen Oxya species and is tricky. so I've not found out the most convenient way to identify Oxya japonica and Oxya chinensis yet. I use iNaturalist.org quite often. Pictures of Oxya species are there. I think the pictures are kind of mixed up. I'm attempting to improve the identification of the Oxya species. AngMingSen (talk) 09:23, 25 December 2022 (UTC)
