Deeceevoice

I don't understand your edits to this user's page? What's so bad about savedarfur.org? It's not like it's excessive or disruptive. I don't think it meets WP:UP#NOT at all. Can you explain your reasons for doing this? futurebird 16:33, 30 September 2007 (UTC)

It falls under WP:UP#NOT since it was lengthy discussion pertaining to non-wikipedia related activities (Jena Six, etc). — talk 16:35, 30 September 2007 (UTC)

It seems another user revered it before I had the chance. I doesn't look there there is much support for your interpretation of WP:UP#NOT. Lengthy discussion? More like a list of links. futurebird 16:47, 30 September 2007 (UTC)
This is completely in the category of "if you don't like it, don't read her user page." --jpgordon∇∆∇∆ 16:59, 30 September 2007 (UTC)

Don't break the 3 revert rule, Animum. futurebird 17:01, 30 September 2007 (UTC)
You could always MfD it Animum? I can fully understand your point that it is being used as a soap box. It's basically an advertisement for some charities that Deeceevoice likes. Ryan Postlethwaite 17:14, 30 September 2007 (UTC)

Before you do something as extreme as editing someone's user page (let alone nominating it for deletion) you really need to try talking to them. If you don't like what someone has on their user page, talk first. When a member of the arbcomm uses rollback on your edit, you really should stop and think about what you are doing. Talking to another editor should always be the first option if you find content on their user page objectionable. Guettarda 04:05, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

I'm a little disturbed to discover that Animum is an admin. futurebird 04:50, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
Eh. We've admins who have done a lot worse things. Luckily, this one was caught quickly, and corrected; I'll assume in good faith that something like this will not happen again. There's a time and a place for boldness; this was honestly mistaken for one of those times. --jpgordon∇∆∇∆ 05:07, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
I'm a little confused, given this. Animum could have deleted it unilaterally, and the action would have been perfectly legitimate - "Any administrator may delete any offensive material from her user page at any time". Daniel 09:21, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
Bull. "This" doesn't mean it's open season on my user page. No way this made any sense. No way it was in any way appropriate. deeceevoice 10:17, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
Listen, I've never even heard of nominating a user page for deletion. Animum tried that after repeatedly removing removing the links. It's one of the most absurd stunts I've ever seen on the wikipedia. That's not what nominations for deletion are for. These actions came out of the blue, without any discussion. In short, I don't see how these actions can be described as anything other than rude, overly, aggressive and abusive none of which would be remarkable on the wikipedia ... if this user was not an admin. But, the user is an admin. futurebird 11:51, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
Excuse me, the userpage is against WP:USER! You can't link to charity funds from your userpage. We aren't myspace. Userpage MfD happens all the time and I personally think this is a prime candidate. aminim should maybe have asked you to remove it rather than remove it himself, however, he is in effect correct in his actions. Ryan Postlethwaite 11:57, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

So, are you saying that nominating a user's page for deletion is a good idea when they have material on that page that you tried to remove twice and other users (not the user in question) objected to you removing? The rules are always subject to interpretation. I suppose I object so strongly because I have things on my own user-page that could easily be removed for the same reasons. It's flimsey. futurebird 12:08, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

I removed the heading section twice before I read the rest of the page, which is why I MfD'ed it after removing the top section; upon reading it, I thought the page served no intention other than to recruit for charities, rant about a block, and attack an editor with whom Deeceevoice was in conflict with. — talk 20:54, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
Your feelings about the rant seem to be personal. There is no reason to try to delete a user's page over personal feelings. Honestly, it's not what I expect from admins. I'm saying that, not to be mean to you, but to let you know that I was shocked and hurt to see an admin acting in the way you did. futurebird 00:04, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
Out of respect for Jpgordon and Raul654 (see MfD), I will consider this issue dropped if everyone else is willing to (and even if not everyone else is willing to, I'll still abstain from commentary). — talk 01:12, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

"El Wanabí" article deleted

Hey, hope you're doing good. Some time ago you deleted a page about the song "El Wanabí" (from Puerto Rican rock group Fiel a la Vega) under the basis that it wasn't significant. However, this is very subjective considering that the song is indeed still very famous and popular in Puerto Rico and within the Latin communities in the United States. Taking in consideration the criteria roughly established in the Notability page, "El Wanabí" is notable. As of today, the song is easily recognizable by most people, it's been covered and used in several TV commercials, the band itself has released several versions of the songs, and other artists have also covered it. Just wanted to say that. I really don't know if there would still be an archive of the page somewhere. Take care. Thief12 15:10, 3 October 2007 (UTC)

The new warnings...

I believe you change the script recently, User:Voice of All/Adminwarnings/monobook.js, and I don't think it is IE compatible (Note: I use FireFox and IE, bue I mainly use IE for fighting vandalism for technical reasons). Can you change the script a little to make it IE compatible? PrestonH 18:28, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

I've undone your edit. I completely lost the admin warning tab after your change. I'm not sure why that happened, though. Nishkid64 (talk) 20:17, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
Hmm, it was just a rearranging of the way text should be placed inside the editform, so I don't see how that could have messed up the script's overall functionality; however, I'm not an elite JavaScript h4x0r, so I won't audaciously argue.  talk 00:43, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

My recent RfA

Thank you for supporting my RfA, which unfortunately didn't succeed. The majority of the opposes stated that I needed more experience in the main namespace and Wikipedia namespace, so that is what I will do. I will go for another RfA in two month's time and I hope you will be able to support me then as well. If you have any other comments for me or wish to be notified when I go for another RfA, please leave them on my talk page. If you wish to nominate me for my next RfA, please wait until it has been two months. Thanks again for participating in my RfA! -- Cobi(t|c|b|cn) 01:38, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

Vandalized by Friends of Nathan Summers

My userpage was vandalized by {User:Vitusbrothers} who have stolen my Avatar which is an original piece of artwork that I own copyright for. The avatar was used to create a video that was posted on Utube and then linked to Nathan Summers site "Rocky Radio" by Summers, and then posted on my userpage without my permission. I am attempting to contact Utube but I am requesting that both parties be banned from Wikipedia. This is a one sided attack by vandals who's only reason to sign up for wiki is to harrass me.--Amadscientist 22:18, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

Since this is primarily an off-site matter, I'm going to elect to leave it up to YouTube; linkspamming is bad, but it seems your primary concern is the avatar. — talk 23:50, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

Redirect of KSA

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on KSA, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because KSA is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting KSA, please affix the template hangon to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. For the revert. I've also blocked that IP for a week for harassment. For some reason, there's a person who uses different IPs to harass a user called Chris Chittleborough. Acalamari 17:28, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

I don't think it would: about three or four IPs are used to vandalize, and blocking the range may shut out good editors. Acalamari 17:40, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

Per wikis blocking policy, only open proxys may be indefinitely blocked. Also, this is a first block, if anything a 3 hour anonblock would more than suffice. Is there a specific reason you made the anonblock indefinite? -- Avi 02:18, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

Yes, and it was a reason of which I did not have control. I was testing DerHexer's admin.js for a while per his request, which caused the indefinite blocking of the IP. I'll converse with him over it the next time he comes onto IRC. Regards, —Animum (etc.) 00:16, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
