Verbetterings

[edit]

As my Dutch is very poor, I can only assume that verbetterings means the same as Verbesserungen in German, which I happen to speak. BTW, I'm not German but Icelandic. I hope your travel through Wikipedia will be a pleasant one. If you have any questions at all about anything, ask me. I might not know the answer, but then ask somebody else. That is also what Wikipedia is about. I'm glad to have met you. All the best. Io 21:54, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

PS Since you left off with Groetnis I'm obviously bound to return the greeting with kærar kveðjur, Io 21:57, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Frisian-Dutch

[edit]

I pride myself on a language ear, but am I correct in assuming that most of your other page is in Frisian and some part in Dutch? It will be interesting to try to make sense of it. :-) Beztu kveðjur Io 22:01, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Beztu kveðjur literally means best greetings. Ignore the z in beztu, it is not part of the standard orthography. Now the official spelling is bestu, but when it comes to spelling and language preservation I am a conservative. All the best and enjoy the English Wikipedia. I might visit your talk page from time to time, just to read and see if I can make anything out of it. I have found, that speaking Danish and German sometimes enables me to get the general gist of Dutch texts, but never in detail and usually mostly through educated guesses. (Danish has been heavily influenced by Plattdeutsch - that is where it is of help.) All the best Io 00:07, 3 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Anneboer vs. Geoffrey

[edit]

Just a question to satisfy my curiosity. You're Anneboer in the English Wikipedia and apparently Geoffrey in the Dutch. I wouldn't dream of asking you about your real name (I don't give mine either), but may we know whether you are male or female? I'm male, just to show that that bit of information is OK. Groetnis :-) Io 14:27, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I just thought, that Anne Boer (that is a legimate name?) would be a name for a Dutch or Frisian name for a female. I beg your pardon: I don't speak frysisk neither do I Dutch.
