Sumanuil I removed it because it appears to be opinion, not from a source, there is no citation to support anything other than original research, it reads like an opinion and there was no suggestion it was anything else. I removed it because it is extremely vague. The sound at the start of the recording doesn't sound anything like a cat and there is no evidence to suggest that is where the piece gets it's name. If I thought it likely there was a citation I would have put the template but a search showed no mention of it anywhere and like the idea that a man named Mitt invented the oven glove it seemed improbable. ☕ Antiqueight ^haver 20:03, 19 January 2018 (UTC)

I hope you'll ignore one of the other editors running down my post at WP:IMOS. It wasn't an inflaming one-liner at all. You or anyone else are free to agree or disagree with me, about how non-english is used on English Wikipedia. GoodDay (talk) 22:14, 23 March 2018 (UTC)

GoodDay I will not discuss other editors comments away from the other editor. But since you are here I would ask what exactly it is you mean by suggesting the Irish word would be meaningless to someone who doesn't know the English word since the Irish word is only appearing on the page (unless it is by far the most common usage when speaking English) as a translation for the English article title? Your sentence seems to make no sense at all in the context.Many Irish words are already used in English along with other non-English words. To ignore a well known translation would be to ignore how English is spoken in Ireland. ☕ Antiqueight ^haver 23:15, 23 March 2018 (UTC)

You are still not making sense to me. This ENTIRE discussion is about whether to put an Irish translation into an article when the name of the article is in English. So your example is the wrong way around. The equivalent would be an article entitled "Gaelic League" which then said the Irish for that is "Conradh na Gaeilge", which should be fine. Or one entitled "Irish Art" which states the Irish for that is "ealaín Éireannach" which is just a translation and isn't used in English and isn't a title known as being in Irish. There is no suggestion of having an article with a word in Irish added with no English equivalent. ☕ Antiqueight ^haver 23:27, 23 March 2018 (UTC)

Thanks so much for the offer of help on twitter to get into wiki editing. As i said thought i start would start with my school to update the info on our makerspace as i know about that , but seem to have come across another editor that is insistent to list our old ofsted status at the top if the page and bury our new info.

I'm quite keen to keep it factual and peer reviewed so any help would be good to learn the ropes. No sure what to do with this. Page is Penketh High School any advice ? Also is there a list of things that pages that need making or editing ?

Hi Antiqueight

Just read your reply still figuring out how to just reply to it. I did agree with the rest if the edits just seemed a strange on to just the ofsted report high up ( when no other school does this and its on the page ) quite hard to write on things like school info than I though!! So for my second edit I might pick something more factual and easier referenced. If that happens again though ill consent it, I only wanted to add some bits on our makerspace really so any extra was a bonus was more of a wiki starter ..lol !

Thanks for the useful tips I'm working my way through! Any suggestions for second page to edit would be appreciated! Might be nice to do a little side project on one page. Try and master it in something less stressful to start with. (KA81K (talk))

discussion on gender and notability

Hi Antiqueight,

I just finished reading the discussion on Rosiestep's talk page on discrimination issues in notablity. Really interesting and frustrating! Your comment: "wondering if this increasing difficulty of proving the notability of these biographies has come up in any discussions and possibly what we can do to improve the situation?"

There was a discussion on my talk page recently concerning notabilty on biographies of women in science and academia. Senior editors, User:SusunW and User:Joe Roe contributed to the discussion and their remarks were very helpful.

I have encountered this gender and notability problem as a participant of the Wikipedia:WikiProject Archaeology/Women in archaeology task force. Some of the red listed women that I have turned to blue have been flagged for not having enough sources or being orphans.

On another note, I like your user page! I am copying some of the tools and links for my own use. thanks MauraWen (talk) 13:49, 23 June 2018 (UTC)

@MauraWen: Oh, I'm glad my user page was helpful - take anything you can use, link to anything you like. I have other sub pages with details and you are welcome to anything useful on them. Orphan fixes are not always straightforward but often technically a simple enough thing to fix that I find it worth doing to prevent that tag but the issue of sources is a right royal pain sometimes. (Note on the page listing the articles I have done there is a tool I use to prevent orphans.. not always useful but a great help when it is...). I shall pop over to your talk page to see about that chat too as soon as I have a chance (I'm away from the internet this weekend). Thanks for the heads up to that. MauraWen, my 2 cents for whatever it is or isn't worth. For orphans, at the very least, you can list them on a list of archaeologists, painters, writers, etc.; as alumni of their university (i.e. Notable alumni); resident of a place (Notable residents); or student of/colleague of someone. (I always check "What links here" on the left-hand tool bar as soon as I make it live. It's important because sometimes you end up with really weird links which are name sames but may have nothing to do with your person). As for the not enough sources, just put up a hand on someone's page or the Women in Red talk page. Someone will be able to help usually. SusunW (talk) 23:38, 23 June 2018 (UTC)

Louise Gavan Duffy

I've been through this for basic copy-editing. It seems to be coming along quite well but I am surprised at all the items in "Further reading" and "Other reading". If an article reaches GA standard, then all the important details from such items should be included in the article itself. You should see to what extent you can improve the article by drawing on them. If they are not really significant, then you should delete them.

You need to provide some basic info on St Ita's.

Ipigott I was just going over to your page to say thank you and how obvious it was re reading it with your eyes (so to speak) the bits I had left out or cut down when initially writing it. There was so much and I was trying to be succinct. I think I need to go back and add anything interesting from those further reading sections as well as add detail to things like, as you point out, St Ita's. But you have certainly helped me see it. Science fiction and fantasy

@Ipigott: We do in fact have a panel and editathon-lite planned. placeholder description. While my aim is women in genre and that was the original discussion topic which caused the idea to spawn, I also want to emphasise POC and other minority groups. So, the aim is around women in SFF online, on the day it will not exclusively be about women on the wiki or in SFF but also getting people to edit for the genre. Explicit wording and descriptions are yet to be finalised. We expect to have a panel which will be a little presentation on how to edit as well as a Q&A around why to edit and the concept of notability followed by a group editathon. After which I will remain in the lobby or available for anyone with further questions or who wants to join me in editing for the weekend. I will be editing as many articles as I can while also being chatty and catching up with everyone...Smirkybec will be facilitating. Any ideas for changes to wording, concepts to review/discuss etc are welcome. One friend has also suggested covering the variations of editing for people who can not spend long periods typing but would be able to rate pages, do copy editing etc. So I want to cover a few tools like AWB and Huggle. ☕ Antiqueight ^chatter 18:36, 22 September 2018 (UTC)

So, keeping with WiR's themes this month for "I" and photographers, I discovered her. I know squat about using pictures in general and even less about them when they cross international boundaries. As her photographs were discovered in the archives of the National Monuments Service are they in the PD? As in can we use them? What about her house? It is on the National Inventory.
