Nature of a Sista'[edit]

I've added the hidden notes and also used the {{not a typo}} template to stop bots "fixing" the name "Quadraphinc". I've also used {{'}} to stop the odd apostrophe from affecting the text formatting; that's the downside of easy-to-use markup, I suppose!:) Cheers, Baffle gab1978 (talk) 02:41, 15 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Thank you for the copyedit! You have improved the article by a lot so I greatly appreciate it. I should learn more about how punctuation works on Wikipedia as I mess it up a lot lol. Hope you are having a wonderful day so far! Aoba47 (talk) 03:04, 15 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Music[edit]

Since you're such a huge music fan I though I might write you a list of some songs that I've been listening to a lot recently. I'll start small so I can see if your music taste might align with mine. "Figure 8" by Ellie Goulding, Kelly Sweet's cover of "In the Air Tonight" and Jetta's cover of "I'd Love to Change the World" (Matsubs remix). PanagiotisZois (talk) 22:37, 15 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • I actually enjoy all types of music (I know that is a super lame/generic answer, but I enjoy learning about different things including music). If I had to put some sort of definition on my musical tastes, I prefer female artists and more mellow music. I really enjoy all of the tracks that you recommended above, though nothing will ever beat the original "In the Air Tonight" in my opinion. I really enjoy Goulding's music; I have fallen behind with her latest stuff, but "Love Me like You Do" is probably my favorite from her. I have actually never heard of Jetta before so thank you for introducing me to her. I will definitely message you sometime in the future with my favorite songs of the moment; I wonder if there is any easy way to make and share playlists. I am so out of the loop with new music technology lol. Aoba47 (talk) 22:47, 15 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oh God, talk about a late reply. Sorry. No, it's not lame. I too wouldn't say I have a favorite type of music. I just happen to listen to songs and if I like them, I'll add them to my playlist, or something similar. Though looking back on some of my favorite songs I too tend to lean more towards female artists; though they're more of the pop genre. As for those three songs / artists, I think even if I heard the original version of "In the Air Tonight" I'd probably still be biased towards Kelly Sweet's cover because it was used in the trailer of Petals on the Wind. I actually loved Goulding's "Love Me like You Do" too. Though at first I thought it said love me like a dude (lol). And I'm glad you liked Jetta. I though I might introduce you to another song / artist. "Here" by Alessia Cara. PanagiotisZois (talk) 21:32, 22 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Thank you for the response and the links! I should read and watch that film/book one day. I have never read or watched anything by V.C. Andrews actually. Aoba47 (talk) 00:00, 29 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oh boy, oh boy. Let me corrupt you with the stories of V.C. Andrews. XD PanagiotisZois (talk) 00:02, 29 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • I have read a lot of yaoi, and I have done and read a lot of academic analysis on more pornographic texts, like Marquis de Sade, so I think that I am already corrupted lol. Aoba47 (talk) 00:26, 29 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Collaboration[edit]

OK, so I was thinking about how you said you'd like to possibly work on a film article, and I was wondering if maybe we could find an article we both want to work on so that we could help each other out. What kind of article would you like to work on? PanagiotisZois (talk) 13:21, 18 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • @PanagiotisZois: Thank you for the message. I would love to collaborate with you on something in the future. I need to learn how to be a better collaborator on Wikipedia as I usually do all of my projects solo. I would done for pretty much any film, but I will definitely give it some thought over the next week or two. Do you have any ideas? Aoba47 (talk) 17:02, 18 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ramandu's daughter[edit]

I noticed your reversion of my recent edit to this page. I'm on the Wikipedia Typo Team and one of my current projects is to delete duplications of the word 'the'. Sometimes it's simply typed twice, other times it's on both sides of brackets, and there are other reasons.

I just took a closer look at the page to see if I made an error, and now I realize that 'the' is duplicated seven times on the page! Twice are simple duplications. Five other times it says the The Chronicles of Narnia series or a variation. I'm surprised these weren't caught because it's a Good Article so I assume that many people have read it, but I've also noticed that 'the' gets duplicated more than any other word without being noticed.

When adding a noun or a noun phrase with 'the' (like 'the series') to a noun or proper noun that already has 'the' in a title (like 'The Chronicles of Narnia'), one 'the' gets dropped. It's not proper English to repeat it. Even though there is much more leeway for error and rule-bending in spoken English than in written English, even saying sentences with a double 'the' sounds extremely awkward. (Go ahead, say the sentences on the page aloud.) So the same way nobody watches the The Muppets television show but instead watches The Muppets television show, there should be only one 'the' preceding Chronicles of Narnia (and it should be capitalized).

Please let me know if you want me to change all the duplicate appearances of 'the' to singles. (And I've never watched the Muppets, for some reason they popped into my head as an example.) Thanks for reading.

You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Christmas with Friends (India.Arie and Joe Sample album)), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

DMMD[edit]

Holy shit! Are you seriously thinking about working on Dramatical Murder? I've played that game (and loved it). Maybe this is the article we can collaborate on. (heavenly harps) If you want that is. If you'd prefer to work on some other articles first I have absolutely no problem. PanagiotisZois (talk) 07:10, 26 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • @PanagiotisZois: Thank you for the message, and it would be really awesome to collaborate on this together someday in the future. It will be a lot of work to go through all of the Japanese sources (I am trying to improve my Japanese skills again through self-study). I even have the visual fanbook, which I still need to read more thoroughly. I am not planning on doing it in the immediate future, but I will let you know when I do. Good luck with your Callisto project. I am still obsessed with Xena so I should definitely work on an article on a character from the show sometime in the future. Aoba47 (talk) 16:50, 26 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Thank you Aoba. And I hope all of your projects turn out looking awesome as well; which I have no doubt they will. I actually was thinking of you a little when I started Callisto's article. :P After having worked on so many articles about film/TV shows, etc., I thought it would be nice to write a character, rather than a medium, article. Also, I was wondering, is Dramatical Murder where you got your username from? Since the MC is named Aoba Seragaki. PanagiotisZois (talk) 19:35, 26 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • @PanagiotisZois: Good luck with it! Callisto is one of my favorite characters from the show so I would be interested to see your work on the related article/project. I am actually am a huge fan of Dramatical Murder (it is one of my favorite yaoi/BL stories and games out there), and I made my username after Aoba Seragaki. I actually wrote a scholarly article about DMMD (focusing on the rape storyline with Mink) and submitted it for publication in a literary journal so hopefully that works out lol. Aoba47 (talk) 19:59, 26 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Unless there's a kind of law that prevents you from doing so, I'd love to read what you wrote about DMMD. If you don't mind, of course. PanagiotisZois (talk) 16:28, 27 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • When it gets published (I am going to stay hopeful about finding a place for it), I will definitely send you a link. Aoba47 (talk) 16:29, 27 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

So judging by your review of Carnie's ill-fated weight-loss show, you seem to be able to dig up these references out of nowhere. Another GSN article, How Much Is Enough?, is, I believe, within striking distance of GAN, save for the fact that it currently lacks a reception section. Is there anything you might know of that would allow us to locate some reviews for this? Thanks again for taking on my GSN reviews; I'm more than happy to pick up a couple of yours. --Bcschneider53 (talk) 05:23, 27 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Bcschneider53: Here are the sources that I could find: 1, 2, 3 (unfortunately behind a paywall), and 4 (unfortunately behind a paywall). Unfortunately, I could not find much on this particular show. It is also difficult as the phrase is a rather common one. I apologize for not being to contribute as much here. And don't feel pressured to pick up my GANs; I am just glad to help out any way that I can. Have a great weekend! Aoba47 (talk) 06:03, 27 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for this! I actually found the original article at The Boston Globe for the first paywall link. I wanted to ask if you think this should remain a C-Class or if it can be promoted to B-Class. To me, the only B-Class criteria in question is No. 2, since it lacks a section for reception (it unfortunately seems there's nothing out there). --Bcschneider53 (talk) 18:05, 27 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • I think that it should be fine as a B-class article, though I am always uncertain about the scale. Aoba47 (talk) 20:08, 27 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Anytime! I am just glad that I could be of some help. I can definitely take one up for review. Aoba47 (talk) 03:37, 30 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
