I hope...[edit]

... that you come back eventually. You are a great user a your contributions are important to Wikipedia. I also hope that you can overcome any situation you could be (possibly) facing in real life. Regards, and I hope you are doing fine, --Paparazzzi (talk) 04:46, 17 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • same. I planned to review your FAC. Miss you, and if I ever inadvertently offended you (which is likely if "Not the best article" offends you, which sounds so harmless to what I am used to hear), then please forgive me. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:45, 17 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Indeed, Gerda Arendt, that's the height of politeness compared to some reviews  :) and this instance was a particular shame, as Aoba47's candidate had already gained two supports in less than 10 days. Doing well that, I think! ——SerialNumber54129 13:35, 17 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • If I was coordinator, I'd let it run. There may be enough watchers to deal with concerns, in case they come, right? - If I'd retire every time I was called someone with an agenda to whom AGF can't be applied, I'd have retired often. Instead, six years ago, when a friend was banned and I was tempted to go because I didn't want to be part of a community who did such things, I stubbornly decided to stay and not do those a favor who perhaps wanted it. Aoba47, do you hear me? Sleep over it, a few nights perhaps. - Look, if you go, I go in "missing" process, and will have to translate an article you wrote to German, - I have so many others to write ;) - Today, I found that another great person died, with an article of only one reference, the new one for his DOD, and three maintenance tags. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:00, 17 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • I hope you decide to return to editing after a break. Your contributions are valued. You already said in your note to Ian that you know you shouldn't take criticism personally, but I think it bears repeating. It can be a tough pill to swallow, but it helps to remember that criticism is generally designed to improve things, not to hurt you personally. --Laser brain (talk) 13:39, 17 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • I am sorry to see such a pleasant, determined, and productive contributor leave. I wish you all the best, whether you decide to return or not. ceranthor 14:30, 17 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • What Ceranthor said. Come back when you're ready. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 23:59, 17 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Response[edit]

Thank you for the messages everyone! I honestly did not expect anyone to notice any of this. I have realized that my decision to take a break comes from a more personal place than the editor’s comment on my last FAC. I know that the person was only helping, and did not mean any harm. I am very grateful for their edits and their responses during that particular FAC process. And, don’t worry Gerda Arendt, as you have only been kind and helpful to me.

Over the past year, I have been growing increasingly stressed with life in general. I had a pretty bad bout of depression and anxiety in 2016, and I can feel myself slipping back into that place. Rather than bouncing back and forth on here between temporary retirements and breaks, I think that it is better for me to sort through all of my own personal issues first and foremost. It really hit me while I was working on the Last Night (2010 film) article that that I overly obsess over Wikipedia projects, rather than moving forward with my own career plans and goals. I keep saying that I would, but I really should ><.

Anyway, apologies for the super long message. It probably does not make any sense to anyone lol. Just wanted to thank everyone for the help. I will most likely return to Wikipedia in the future, but I think at least a few months off would be for the best. And I also want to apologize to all of the editors that I have annoyed in the past, as I know that I do that a lot ><. As always, I hope that everyone is having a great day and/or night! I wish you all the best in the world! You come up with very good edits and you are an important part of Wikipedia. All the best to you! Cartoon network freak (talk) 20:49, 17 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Take care. Thanks for all the reviews you made to the articles I worked into.Tintor2 (talk) 20:51, 17 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I'm wishing you the best of luck with all your endeavors. I had a bout of anxiety + depression as a teenager and I can personally say that my two year block from Wiki did help me to get things sorted out. Hope you'll feel better and maybe even eventually decide to return, as you're a great contributor! I would've addressed future concerns raised at your FLs but you withdrew them already lol.--NØ 21:21, 17 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you everyone! It feels weird to me to be this personal on here, but I am very appreciative for everyone that I have met through Wikipedia. Aoba47 (talk) 21:43, 17 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
So glad to hear from you. I'm also glad that you are taking care of your mental health even if that means taking a break from Wikipedia. Please come back when you feel better. You are a great editor and contributor to Wikipedia, but your health is more important. See you soon and regards, Paparazzzi (talk) 03:31, 19 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
My friend, all I can say is you'll be missed. You've made Wikipedia a great place to work and I personally look forward to your return, but please take all time time you need to put yourself first.--Changedforbetter (talk) 19:12, 31 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry and good luck[edit]

@Aoba47: I have to say that what I said could be possibly offending to many. I hope that whatever that needs to be sorted out will be sorted out and I hope you come back.

Sincerely, Clikity (talk) 21:14, 17 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thank you, and I should be apologizing to you, as you were very helpful during the FAC and I really do appreciate. Hopefully, in the future, we can work on the project together. Aoba47 (talk) 21:41, 17 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page stalker) If this is indeed a break, no one has earned it more. I sincerely do hope you come back here and do take care of your good self, Aoba. Cheers, mate.  — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 12:22, 21 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
