TFA[edit]

Thank you today for The Emperor's New School, "about a television spin-off to the 2000 movie The Emperor's New Groove. It aired for two seasons from 2006 to 2008 on the Disney Channel. In it, Kuzco is required to attend the public high school, Kuzco Academy, before he can become the emperor of the Inca Empire. Episodes use physical comedy and often break the fourth wall."! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:52, 15 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thank you for the message. I am extremely proud of this article, and I learned so much during the FAC process so it is really something special to me. Aoba47 (talk) 17:37, 15 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

ITN recognition for Ann Reinking[edit]

On 16 December 2020, In the news was updated with an item that involved the article Ann Reinking, which you updated. If you know of another recently created or updated article suitable for inclusion in ITN, please suggest it on the candidates page.  — Amakuru (talk) 12:38, 16 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thank you. I am just glad that I can help. Aoba47 (talk) 18:02, 16 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

AfD[edit]

Hi Aoba, sorry for bothering you with this seemingly irrelevant matter. In light of your AfD for "Shattered Glass (Britney Spears song)", I have initiated two series of AfDs: one for non-notable Rihanna album songs, and one for non-notable Christina Aguilera album songs. It puzzles me how there are a ton of articles on these kind of songs that do not receive enough coverage (though I admit, I was the one that brought some of the Christina Aguilera articles to GA in the past..) Alas, I hope you can comment, and thank you for your initiative with "Shattered Glass", (talk) 04:42, 19 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thank you for the message. I believe notability rules have become stricter over time so these articles may have been perfectly fine at the time of their creation, but things changed. I will definitely comment on both AfDs in the future. From my very quick look, I do agree with you that these songs do not appear to have enough significant coverage for separate articles, but I would of course like to do a little more research just to make sure.
  • In a somewhat related note, I am always uncertain about doing these larger AfDs because it could easily go into trainwreck territory, and I personally find that individual nominations can be more beneficial even though they take a lot more time. However, with that being said, I think these bundled AfDs can still can work, and you did a great job with fully explaining your rationale so it applies to each individual article. Aoba47 (talk) 18:25, 19 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Subaru[edit]

After it was copyedited, I nominated Subaru Sumeragi to GA. If you can review it, I'll appreciate it but I also know you might be busy with other projects to do it. Anyway, happy holidays.Tintor2 (talk) 03:50, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thank you for the message. Unfortunately, I do not have the time right now to do a full GAN review. Best of luck with the nomination though! Aoba47 (talk) 04:38, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Akudama Drive ended but no movie reference in the finale... anyway
  • Ending with an episode named after the show is pretty awesome though too. Aoba47 (talk) 16:29, 24 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I saw you left comments here, but I was wondering if you had an official support. Or was it just a matter of stopping by to give suggestions? Le Panini [🥪] 04:06, 26 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Le Panini: Sorry for the late response. I just saw your message now. I was just stopping by to provide some suggestions. Unfortunately, I do not have the time to do a full review on the article as I will be taking time away from Wikipedia in the near future and it is a rather long article so I would want to be able to devote my full attention to do a thorough review before doing any type of support. Aoba47 (talk) 06:20, 29 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Aoba47, Ah, no problem. I'd hate to see you go. Le Panini [🥪] 06:21, 29 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I do appreciate that. I am glad that I got a chance to work with you. I love that you are working on a Paper Mario game and bringing it through the FAC process because I have so many memories with that series. One of these days I will get to playing The Origami King. That is whenever I get a Switch lol. Aoba47 (talk) 06:26, 29 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Google Books[edit]

Hi Aoba, happy holidays, and hope you're enjoying your holidays so far. I was wondering if you have access to the chapter "The "Mean" Era" (pages 49-60-ish) on the book The Words and Music of Taylor Swift that you brought up during "New Romantics" FAC. As I'm planning to work on Red (Taylor Swift album) for at least GA status while waiting for 1989 articles to get promoted, the book is a wonderful source, but sadly I only have limited access to the preview... If you don't, then it's totally fine! Thanks in advance, and keep yourself warm and healthy, (talk) 04:06, 26 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thank you for the message. Unfortunately, I do not have full access to those pages. Google Books has blocked a majority of those pages. I would recommend making a request at the WikiProject Resource Exchange. If you put a full citation up there with an explanation on how you plan on using it, then someone there should email you pretty quickly. I've gotten an email in a day or two. I hope that helps, and happy holidays! Aoba47 (talk) 04:15, 26 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Thank you for letting me know. It is a really useful place to request for sources, (talk) 15:25, 27 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • I hope that it is helpful. Aoba47 (talk) 06:18, 29 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies[edit]

I would like to sincerely apologize for my behavior in the past. I admit that I was a huge jerk to you and other editors. I promise that I will not act as I did then again. If you don't accept my apology, I completely understand. What I said and done is completely unacceptable. Have a great Christmas and a happy new year. The Ultimate Boss (talk) 06:26, 26 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thank you for the message. To be clear, I never had anything personal against you. I was honestly just trying to give you advice, because in the past, I have reacted very poorly to opposes in FACs and other types of negative critiques and I know from these experience how that could quickly escalate into a very negative situation. I wish you the best of luck with the FAC and with any other Wikipedia work, and I hope you had a great Christmas and have a happy new year as well. Aoba47 (talk) 17:52, 26 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Pussy Fairy (OTW)[edit]

Saw your comment on my talk page, tried to reply but you removed it before I could publish. Hope you don't mind me making my way over here to get the message out. Here's what I wrote verbatim: "I suppose it was my mistake that I didn't make my reasoning clear for what I thought of as just an off-hand suggestion. I only meant that it was apparent to me in that moment (though perhaps I'm wrong about this, I checked the template documentation and didn't see anything mentioning this issue) that I couldn't plant the dead link tag directly into the reference, and that seems like a problem with that particular citation style that should be fixed if possible. Otherwise, the style is fine by me. I'm not used to seeing it used for web citations, nor for a full article, but I have nothing against the choice. My sole concern was with not knowing the protocol for the tag in this style. Apologies for the confusion/my misspeaking, and thank you for your assistance!" QuietHere (talk) 20:42, 28 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • @QuietHere: I should be the one apologizing to you as I had a very knee-jerk reaction and I instead should have stepped back and re-read your edit summary when I had a clearer head. Apologies for all of the mess that I admittedly caused here. I was inspired by articles like Pod (The Breeders album) to use the Harvard citation style and for whatever reason, I've gotten a lot of pushback for using this in the "Pussy Fairy (OTW)" so I was unnecessarily sensitive and defensive on that issue. Apologies again as there was really no excuse as I was the one that escalated into something silly. I think it is probably another sign that it is time for me to step back from Wikipedia. Thank you for tagging the citation as dead as I would not have been aware of that. I hope you are doing well, staying safe, and a having a good end to your year. Something for you[edit]

The Random Acts of Kindness Barnstar
For your input in others' FACs that take care of prose issues, and even occasionally source reviews that may be a mundane task to do. This is to let you know that your help is very much appreciated, (talk) 13:59, 30 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Thank you for the kind words! Congrats on the "New Romantics" FA and best of luck with the "Shake It Off" FAC. Aoba47 (talk) 18:21, 30 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The usual suspects[edit]

I thought it was your image, and was also wondering what the message was :) It was inserted by Hawkeye7. Best, SandyGeorgia (Talk) 05:27, 31 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • I would assume good faith and think of it as adding some sort of levity to the conversation. I do not believe I have talked to Hawkeye7 (and if so, I genuinely apologize for forgetting right now) so I cannot say for certain lol. Aoba47 (talk) 05:51, 31 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Dimple Kapadia[edit]

I'm giving Miss Kapadia another chance at FAC. I've spent the last couple of months improving it. If you have comments, please do post them on FAC. If you find yourself too busy, it's okay, no pressure. Kind regards, ShahidTalk2me 23:30, 2 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Shshshsh: Thank you for the message, and best of luck with the FAC. Unfortunately, I will be retiring from Wikipedia in the near future so I will be unable to review your FAC. I feel especially bad since you have helped me so much with my current FAC, but I just do think that I'm in the right space to do a proper FAC review and I would rather leave that to editors who are far more experienced and frankly just better at it than myself. Apologies again for having to say no, and have a great weekend! Aoba47 (talk) 01:37, 3 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • No problem, it's just that you gave it a review in the previous FAC already, that's why I thought of you.
  • Are you okay? You've been a little different off late, and now you're considering a retirement all of a sudden. Is this real? Are you planning to retire for good? ShahidTalk2me 10:17, 3 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • I am good. Just got very reflective with the end of 2020, and I'm trying to think more critically on how I spend my time so I can accomplish the things that I wanted to last year. I do plan on retiring for good because I'd rather spend my time doing other things and I'm just not finding Wikipedia to be enjoyable anymore. Aoba47 (talk) 17:51, 3 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The Heart of Thomas[edit]

Happy new year. I still haven't nominated another Clamp character (last one was Subaru Sumeragi) but I wondered if you could check the FAC Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/The Heart of Thomas/archive1 as the anime project seems to be lacking FAs in general. Cheers.Tintor2 (talk) 02:09, 3 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Tintor2: Wow! I am very glad that this article was nominated at the FAC level and I hope this encourages more FA activity from editors interested in manga and anime. I actually read quite a bit about this manga while I was doing research on manga for my M.A. thesis (which feels like eons ago). Unfortunately, as I have already said to a different user, I am planning on retiring in the near future, and I am honestly not in the best place to do any kind of review, let alone a thorough one like a FAC. I just do not feel comfortable or confident enough to do it so I must decline. Apologies for that, and I hope you are having a great and safe weekend! AfD[edit]

Hey Aoba, I am sad to hear that you are going to retire in the near future. I guess we are in (sort of) the same page where we no longer feel the urge to write articles about things we enjoy irl, so I hope you the very best in the future. If you want, I wish we could keep in touch through social media or other means, whichever you prefer. And do give me heads-up before you retire!

Alas, as part of my ongoing (rather aggressive) attempt to wipe out articles that fail WP:NSONGS, I have put up three AfDs... Wipe Your Eyes; Mmm Papi; and Whiplash. I am seeing that they have attracted no commentators... possibly because I have been rather too aggressive on this matter. Either way, I hope you could join in and comment. Thanks, (talk) 04:12, 5 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • @: Thank you for your message. We are actually in very similiar positions. I'm sad to see you retire from Wikipedia since I enjoy reading your work, but I understand why you are doing it. I would love to stay in contact through whatever social media you would prefer to use. I have been very fortunate to have met and worked with so many great editors so I would not want to just cut all ties just because I want to stop editting. I will definitely give you a heads-up before I decide to go. I will put up a retirement message on my talk page to do some sort of proper goodbye (at least for a while, because I should never say never about possibly returning to here one day lol).
  • I will look through your AfDs sometime tomorrow if that is okay with you (or more accurately later today). I do not think you are being too aggressive since you are being very clear with your rationales for each AfD and from my experience, it is common for editors to do a AfD and then nominate several after looking at similar Wikipedia articles in that topic. I only want to wait until later so I can really look through the articles and put up a well-written response that will hopefully encourage other editors to join in on the discussion.
  • On a side note, I am glad that your "Shake It Off" FAC has already attracted comments and it looks like I am in the minority of people who actually love this song. It is just silly that it never fails to put me in a good mood lol. Aoba47 (talk) 06:03, 5 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Thank you for your reply. "Shake It Off" is annoying but catchy at the same time, so it is always everyone's favorite at parties. Thank you for your comments at the AfDs, and I am waiting forward to your heads-up before your retirement :) (talk) 04:04, 6 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Kes[edit]

Heya,

I've just picked up a copy of Star Trek Voyager: A Celebration, which was only published at the end of last year. It's an official publication, and apparently sets out the real reason why Lien left the role (somewhere in there, it's just nice to see another official source for Voyager stuff). Although TBH, I haven't actually picked it up and read it yet! Anyway, once I do, I'll look to update the Kes article. I'll aim to avoid removing any information, as I think it gives proper context to whatever the real reason was and why they had to keep it quiet for such a long time. I haven't been around Wiki properly or the ST work for a while, but this might inspire some edits.

Thanks for all the work over the years, Miyagawa (talk) 11:52, 6 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Miyagawa: Thank you for the message. It is always great to see more official Voyager material as I will always have a soft spot for that series. I would be curious on what the book has to say about Lien's departure from the series because it was always very odd to me. Feel free to update any part of the Kes article and remove and revise anything that you think would be best. Thank you for all of your work and I always enjoy talking and working with you. If I ever do come back to Wikipedia, I'll defintely revisit Voyager articles. Have a great 2021! Aoba47 (talk) 21:21, 6 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Promotion of Blindfold Me[edit]

Congratulations, Aoba47! The article you nominated, Blindfold Me, has been promoted to featured status, recognizing it as one of the best articles on Wikipedia. The nomination discussion has been archived.
This is a rare accomplishment and you should be proud. If you would like, you may nominate it to appear on the Main page as Today's featured article. Keep up the great work! Cheers, Ealdgyth (talk) via FACBot (talk) 00:06, 7 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

FAC[edit]

Hi. I was wondering if you could leave some comments for "Pop Smoke" at FAC? I want at least one of Pop Smoke's articles to be at FA. I want to honor The Woo by giving one of his songs the gold star. Thanks a lot. The Ultimate Boss (talk) 07:33, 25 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thank you for the message, but unfortunately, I will not be doing any reviews in the foreseeable future as I am focusing more on off-Wikipedia work and I have retired from here. Best of luck with the FAC though. Aoba47 (talk) 13:55, 25 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Peer review[edit]

Hello Aoba47, apologies for posting on your talk page since the template above reads retired. This may come across as random, but I wanted to drop by and ask if you'd be willing to leave some comments at Wikipedia:Peer review/Lights Up/archive1. The article was passed as a GA about ten days ago. My GA reviewer, has made comments on how to improve the page, which I've implemented. HĐ suggested to contact you regarding the peer review and I would really appreciate if you could provide advice and suggestions on how to improve the article further.
