Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Aravi0811. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Vellore Institute of Technology, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Bilby (talk) 10:06, 16 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Bilby, i am new to Wikipedia and currently in learning, Since my employer is Vellore Institute of Technology, There are many content conflicts raised previously and the article was misguided with unrelated information, the article reader keeps asking us why you are making so and the references links added does not belongs to the page. So i came to know and deleted the information. To keep away vandalism my employer asked to monitor the page and update the current affairs information which are not up to to date are kept replaced. I do not use that Wikipedia page to advertise or promotion or etc..., i am here to check if there are negative information are updated in that page and update the page to current affairs. After reading your talk i came to know that if i am paid or employee, user should be disclose with Wikipedia, hence disclosed my details and i added the paid contribution template. Thanks for the information. Aravi0811 (talk) 11:31, 16 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
