Invitation to the Forgotten Realms project[edit]

Hi,

We are working on a Forgotten Realms Project to map Toril (mostly Faerûn, at the present). Since you contributed quite a lot on a Forgotten Realms-specific entry, I'd like to invite you to join the project, so we could improve the “Mapping the Realms” project.

The goal is to create a sort of World Factbook for the Realms. This means:

A consistent content
Use of templates
Entries should be limited to “sovereign places”: states and free cities, as well a moderately-inhabited place such as the Western Highlands.

On top of this, we also plan to cover Lost Empires, such as Pelvuria or Imaskar and, of course, Netheril

The project is located here
The Geographical index of Toril is a good start to get a visual of had been done, as well as the Halruaa entry.

The White Counsil[edit]

You have to understand, though, that not all people who read Wikipedia articles are familiar with the article subject; the White Counsil wouldn't really be known outside the online miniature wargaming community, and individual sections on the sub-fora that make it successful would only truly be understood by those who are members of it already. Things like individual usernames of the people who worked on UROD and LDTTW are not really notable outside the 180 (or so) members of the White Counsil, and with terms like "it's ruler and leader", this could lead to confusion for people from outside the forum. It is important to remember the Wikipedia definition of notabiliy:

A topic has notability if it is known outside a narrow interest group or constituency.

Also important is Wikipedia:Notability (web), where the White Counsil does not seem to fit any of the three required criteria for articles on web content:

The content itself has been the subject of multiple non-trivial published works whose source is independent of the site itself.
The website or content has won a well known and independent award, either from a publication or organisation.
The content is distributed via a site which is both well known and independent of the creators, either through an online newspaper or magazine, an online publisher, or an online broadcaster.

So in summary, briefly mention The White Realm in The White Counsil Today, but don't give it its own section or go into superfluous detail on the member groups involved. Thanks. Grimhelm 10:33, 23 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
