Your submission at Articles for creation: Garland of Antwerp (April 8)[edit]

Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed! Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time.
Please read the comments left by the reviewer on your submission. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit when they have been resolved.

Print sources are perfectly good! You don't by any means need to restrict yourself to what's available online. (Having said that, if you can find a link to an online version of newspaper articles, that's always nice too.) On the other hand, your interview with the sculptor cannot be used, as it's impossible for anyone else to verify, even in principle (see WP:VERIFIABILITY). Just make sure you use reliable sources to prove a) the subject matters, and b) that what you're saying is true. If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask me. Again, welcome to Wikipedia! That isn't really a source; it's just a picture of the work and it doesn't appear to mention it or its name (but correct me if I'm wrong). Perhaps it would be best as an external link just so people can see what the work actually looks like. I look forward to seeing your newspaper sources; please make sure that the sculpture is actually discussed, rather than just appearing in a picture. It's also not yet clear where the name 'Guirlande' is cited. Oreo Priest talk 15:53, 8 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. Take your time. Oreo Priest talk 18:58, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Good to hear from you again! I am very busy, but I will try to get back to you within the week. All the best, Oreo Priest talk 15:14, 5 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
So I downloaded the dropbox file, but it doesn't seem to have any extension, so I can't open it. Can you please check what type of file it was and upload it again? Thanks, Oreo Priest talk 13:35, 13 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I read the articles. In my opinion, these are good evidence of notability, and good references to use. Be sure to use them! Go ahead and continue working on the article! There's lots of good stuff to include.
That being said, there are a few issues. I still haven't seen the name of the sculpture mentioned anywhere. Also, try to use somewhat neutral language. "beautiful satin [finish]" is too much; see WP:PEACOCK. If you could take a picture of the sculpture yourself (particularly if the owner allows you to use it on Wikipedia), it would help illustrate the subject. Overall, though, I think you have the basis for a solid article here! Again, let me know if you have any questions. Cheers, Oreo Priest talk 12:32, 20 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I noticed you haven't added the print sources you spent so much time finding as references in the article. I strongly recommend you do so to prevent the article getting deleted later on. I think Template:Cite news should be of help.
The picture you shared is definitely a good one. I would be happy to help you upload it.
There are a few obstacles in the way though. First, we need to get permission from the author of the photo to release it under a free licence. See Commons:OTRS, and follow the procedure there. This step could be skipped if you replace it with a photo you took yourself. Second, due to unfortunately restrictive Belgian copyright law (see Commons:Freedom of panorama if you're interested), "modern pieces of art cannot be the central motive of a commercially available photograph without permission of the artwork copyright holder", so we need permission from the copyright holder of the sculpture to upload the picture, whether it was one taken by Sigrid Spinnox or yourself. This too should be done by OTRS. Keep me posted as to the progress of this process.
I realize this is a cumbersome process, but this is principally because you're uploading work with two different copyright holders, neither of which is yourself. Nonetheless, I'm sorry that it has to be so complicated, especially for a newcomer to Wikipedia. I will do everything I can to help. Cheers, Oreo Priest talk 22:13, 24 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hi! For the old newspaper articles, do you have the dates, or the names of the newspaper or author? Those would make the references complete. I also found this article, which appears to have been written more recently than your Wikipedia article (and was possibly inspired by your Dutch one). You might want to use it to reference a fact or two, as it's a very reliable source.
Have you made any progress with the picture? At any rate, the article should be good to go into the mainspace (i.e. become a normal article in Wikipedia) quite soon! I look forward to hearing from you. Cheers, Oreo Priest talk 15:15, 17 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't hear back from you, but I think it's adequate as it now stands, so I promoted it to the main article space. Don't hesitate to improve it further if you want! Oreo Priest talk 08:23, 27 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
