Greetings!
The Months of African Cinema Global Edit-a-thon was concluded on 30 November 2018, and we've had amazing results. Over 570 articles were created across 8 language-Wikipedias. 7 in-person gatherings of Wikipedians were organized across different parts of the world.
All our winners have been recognized and you can check the complete list here.
For a pilot event, all our expectations were surpassed and we have you to thank for that. Thank you so much for being part of this global event! Thank you for helping to fix African content gaps on Wikipedia! We hope to see more of your participation in future AfroCine events and activities. Artashat and Dvin museums[edit]
Hi Armineaghayan, we met at Wikimania in Stockholm :). I'd like to ask you two questions on museums in Armenia if you don't mind. I am working on an archaeological project. One of the things I am currently doing is making sure that all the museums I have in my OpenRefine sheet are actually on Wikidata (and linking their Q-id's. I encountered two museums in Armenia that I cannot actually find yet on Wikidata. Could you (before I do create the wikidata items) help me doublecheck if indeed they are missing still or that I didn't look well enough? It concerns museums in Dvin and Artashat. I understand that they are archeaological sites and according to the info I have (and this article) there probably are two small archeaological museums now. AfroCine: Join the Months of African Cinema this October![edit]
Greetings!
After a successful first iteration of the “Months of African Cinema” last year, we are happy to announce that it will be happening again this year, starting from October 1! In the 2018 edition of the contest, about 600 Wikipedia articles were created in at least 8 languages. There were also contributions to Wikidata and Wikimedia commons, which brought the total number of wikimedia pages created during the contest to over 1,000.
The AfroCine Project welcomes you to October, the first out of the two months which have been dedicated to creating and improving content that centre around the cinema of Africa, the Caribbean, and the diaspora. Join us in this global edit-a-thon, by helping to create or expand articles which are connected to this scope. Also remember to list your name under the participants section.
On English Wikipedia, we would be recognizing participants in the following manner:
- Overall winner (1st, 2nd, 3rd places)
- Diversity winner
- Gender-gap fillers

Thank you very much for participating in The Months of African Cinema Global Edit-a-thon which was concluded on 30 November 2019. We are happy to announce that the Wikimedia Foundation approved to award tokens for our winners during this edition of the contest. These prizes would be given in the form of vouchers (primarily Amazon gift cards, but we can work with other possible options in your country) and would be distributed in this manner:
- Overall Winner - $100
- Second place - $50
- Third place - $30
- Diversity Winner - $30
- Gender gap filler - $30
