License tagging for Image:Peter.herrmann.xls[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Peter.herrmann.xls. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 09:08, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

Nova Science[edit]

Mr. Tausch,

Please contact me about this article through my talk page, not through email. It is much better to keep conversation about Wikipedia articles strictly on Wikipedia. I have replied to your comment on the discussion page of the article, and you may reply there as well. Your version still has many, many problems and is not acceptable for Wikipedia. Please read up on the policies for inclusion of content on this site, which are very strict. Please review the page here and the linked policies. In a nutshell:

  • it's not "your" article -- you must collaborate with others to write it, which means not deleting the "concerns" section because you find it unnacceptable.
  • Please follow the Manual of Style guidelines when writing articles.
  • Do NOT include original research -- this includes searching databases for scientometric data! You are free to publish this data on your own website, of course, but not on Wikipedia.

I hope this helps you understand my concerns about the article. As it is, the article currently is not very helpful to the reader who is trying to find out what Nova is (that is the goal of an encyclopedia article), and it violates a number of Wikipedia policies. I am happy to cut it down to a very basic entry, simply stating the name of the publisher and the fields of their publication, and we can start over. Would that be acceptable to you? I don't want to fight over the content of the article, but please understand what kinds of things we publish around here. This is a very special kind of "publishing house," with house rules!

Additionally, you should know about the Three-revert rule -- to quote that page, "An editor must not perform more than three reverts, in whole or in part, on a single page within a 24-hour period. A revert means undoing the actions of another editor, whether involving the same or different material each time." Thanks. -- phoebe/(talk) 16:53, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

editing talk pages[edit]

Hi Arno Tausch,

regarding your edits to the talk page of Nova Science -- the convention on Wikipedia is to leave other people's comments on talk pages exactly as they placed them, only adding new sections to the bottom. In other words, please don't change headlines, other people's formatting (including bolding etc), or try to summarize the discussion -- just add your own new comments for other folks to respond to. I'm going to change it so that the earlier comments are formatted as they were, but I will certainly leave your comments put. Also, please remember that you can sign your comments with your username and the date and time by typing four tildes (~~~~) -- this will make it much easier for other people to follow the discussion. Thanks. -- phoebe/(talk) 00:34, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

p.s. in case it's helpful, here are the talk page guidelines. By the way, please don't post my institutional affiliation without my consent. Thanks! -- phoebe/(talk) 00:51, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
