Historical marker images

Thanks for your offer of help! NOTE I don't know how much or how little you know about copyright; please forgive me if I've told you what you already know.

As you guessed, copyright is the big problem: for these lists, the images need to be in the public domain or available under what Wikipedia calls "free licenses" (basically, nothing more than attribution and share-alike may be required), and because the texts of post-1977 markers (and the texts of any markers that had copyright notices, if there were any) are copyrighted, we can't include those markers prominently in an image that's released under a free license or in the public domain. In short, if it wanted us to use an image of a marker, IDNR would either need to relinquish all rights to the image, or it would need to make an explicit statement saying that the image was available for anyone to use under the terms of a copyright license like the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 License.

I'm not working hard on getting images of specific markers (generally, the only ones I've gotten are of sites where I was already going, such as the Orange County Pivot Point marker that Cbl62 and I were discussing), so I'm not going to bother you for any specific images, but if you were able and willing to work out a license release for some images, we'd be quite happy. By the way, it might help to put something on OTRS to establish that you really are the person from IHB that you claim to be. The best way to do this would be to use an official email address (especially if it's listed somewhere on the website), rather than the one with which you've sent me emails. Simply say something like "This attests the accuracy of User:Aroseformo's claim to be affiliated with the Indiana Historical Bureau. Aroseformo is familiar with the conflict of interest policy and will edit in line with it." and email it to info-en-qwikimedia.org. This won't give you any special authority, but it will ensure that people don't think you're putting yourself forward as someone else (it's happened before) and will demonstrate that WP:COI won't be a problem. OTRS keeps the text of your email (and its address) private; they'll tell people that you're IHB-affiliated but nothing more, so you can feel free to replace the second "Aroseformo" with a gendered pronoun or whatever else you want to use. State pie and beverage

Thanks for letting me know about List of Indiana state symbols. I am disappointed to learn that the news sources were incorrect about the status of these symbols. Although I would want the sugar cream pie and water to be included even if they were only unofficial by resolution, it appears the sources - and I - were mistaken and they are not even officially unofficial. I think I would like to indicate in prose that they were proposed as symbols, but without the House joining the Senate these should be scratched elsewhere. Also, you may want to let the Tourism Office to correct their site as well. I enjoy reading and occasionally writing Indiana government and history articles as well, so please let me know if there are other changes you would like to see made.
