The Culture[edit]

Hello Artega - Welcome to Wikipedia! We hope you have a lot of fun and a productive time here.

However, I must admit that I am here aboout something else, as I just had to spend about 5 minutes fixing your "simple spelling check" on The Culture (because the article had moved on, I couldn't simply revert you). The Culture novels are written by Iain M. Banks, a Scottish writer. As such he uses British English (with the Queen's English having a lot fewer "Z"s to start with). As per WP:ENGVAR, an article which started out in a certain variant of English, or has a strong national link (such as being about a writer's creations who writes in that language variant) should always stay in that variant.

To make a long rant short - please don't automatically assume that words like "civilisation" are spelled wrong. Check whether there is a reason, and whether there is internal consistence in the article. Cheers and happy editing from New Zealand. Ingolfson (talk) 10:07, 14 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
