[edit]

Please do not vandalize pages, as you did with this edit to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Punk music. If you continue to do so, you will

Please stop removing bands from the list of punk bands. You are using this page to assert your opinion on what is and is not punk music. It's funny that you claim neither Fall Out Boy nor Green Day play punk music, even though you admit they play music that sounds "something like punk" (if it sounds like punk, it might just be punk, kiddo) and both have Wikipedia articles that describe their music as punk and have verifiable sources to back this up, yet the only thing needed to include Joan Jett as a punk musician is her "bad reputation". Let me get this straight: playing music that sounds like punk doesn't make you a punk band, but having a bad attitude does? Does that mean gangsta rappers are punk rock? You may be an authority on the subject in your own mind, but I'm afraid that authority extends no further than the rim of your skull.
If the case is contentious, as it is with Fall Out Boy, Simple Plan, Yellowcard, and so on, then it comes down to verifiable sources—and there are sources that call these bands pop punk. I admit that I find it appalling to call these bands punk, but it's not the function of Wikipedia to reveal "the truth". — Twas Now ( talkcontribse-mail ) 19:42, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Firstly, easy there Twas Now, there's no need to bash. Asdasa, much as I loathe pop punk bands, they're still a form of punk, and should be noted in the list of punk bands. Joan Jett does not dedicate her entire career to punk rock, which is why we can't accept her. The bands listed play primarily punk here. I would suggest you stop making edits based on the assumptions of your own, that infringes Wikipedia's neutral point of view.--F-22 Raptor IV 21:53, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop. If you continue to violate Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy by adding commentary and your personal analysis into articles, as you did to List of punk bands, 0–K, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. --F-22 Raptor IV 22:04, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Concerning Joan Jett

[edit]
This is material that needs to be gone over at the talk page, as far as I know, Bad Reputation was the only punk rock album she did, and possibly, the only punk rock song off the album is "Bad Reputation". If you can provide other albums from JJ that have evidence of punk rock. I'll let her in.--F-22 Raptor IV 22:18, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
PS, any other albums or songs. A one-time punk hit is no deal. Many bands have made only one punk song, but never made the list.--F-22 Raptor IV 22:22, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Can you point out a few outside sources that describe her other songs/albums as punk? They cannot be user-contributed.--F-22 Raptor IV 22:41, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It's User contributed. It doesn't matter anyways, I found a news article concerning her concerning her punk status.--F-22 Raptor IV 23:36, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I made a comment on the punk talk page, yes, the article "kind of" supports her punk status.--F-22 Raptor IV 23:40, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
