AFL finals[edit]

You raise an interesting question. I've been a little dissatisfied with all the various finals articles we have for a while, and this gives me an impetus to improve it. Let's say there were a new article called Australian Football League finals series; that would be the appropriate article for your table – but it needs other content, otherwise it would just be deleted for WP:NOTSTATS. I think there is some valuable content on AFL finals series, Early VFL finals systems and other pages that could be moved.

What I suggest is the following: I see that you have made a draft of your tables for the 2000-present final eight system. You should make the same tables for all previous finals systems (final four, final five, Argus system, etc.), because if it's an article about the whole VFL/AFL finals history then it needs tables covering the whole 120 years. I'll compile a new Australian Football League finals series article, which can include the history of why finals exist, the history of replayed finals, home ground contracts and all the other stuff that is VFL/AFL specific. I'll aim to get that done within the next month, and once it's created I'll let you know and you can compile your tables into it.

For what it's worth, I don't think the top table (the one listing WLWL by position without identifying teams) is going to be well received in its current form. I think you can probably expect it to be challenged as WP:INDISCRIMINATE. It would really help if the teams were identified in the table, because then it becomes a historical finals record as well as something which can be statistically analysed. • I am progressing well with the new article. I think I'm fairly close to having something that can be created that will stand alone. Aspirex (talk) 00:02, 24 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Ashtonsharma. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "AFL Finals Results statistics".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Legacypac (talk) 15:05, 30 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
