New Page Review - newsletter No.3

Hello Atlantic306,

Voting for coordinators has now begun HERE and will continue through/to 23:59 UTC Monday 06 March. Please be sure to vote. Any registered, confirmed editor can vote. Nominations are now closed.

Still a MASSIVE backlog

We now have 809 New Page Reviewers but despite numerous appeals for help, the backlog has NOT been significantly reduced.
If you asked for the New Page Reviewer right, please consider investing a bit of time - every little helps preventing spam and trash entering the mainspace and Google when the 'NO_INDEX' tags expire.

Discuss this newsletter here. If you wish to opt-out of future mailings, please remove yourself from the mailing list. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 15:35, 21 February 2017 (UTC)

I have unreviewed a page you curated

Hi, I'm Mabalu. I wanted to let you know that I saw the page you reviewed, Ryan Radbyrne, and have un-reviewed it again. If you have any questions, please ask them on my talk page. Thank you.

Hi, I have moved this article to draftspace because it has no references. Please add references to WP:Reliable sources before moving it back to mainspace or asking me to do it. This action is in accordance with New Page Patrollers policy, thanksAtlantic306 (talk) 23:07, 23 February 2017 (UTC)

Hi, am not questioning his importance but all articles especially biographies need references. References to WP:Reliable sources need to be added to the article before it is moved to mainspace. For referencing advice please see WP:Referencing for beginners, thanks Atlantic306 (talk) 00:19, 26 February 2017 (UTC)

Image

Hey

You should not delete my images. Just add new versions of them.

Lamro (talk) 19:42, 3 March 2017 (UTC)

      • If you see that an image (a logo in my case) is obsolete (a new logo is released), you don't have to delete the old one and replace it with a new one. Use the option "upload a new version"

Lamro (talk) 08:14, 4 March 2017 (UTC)

Hi Atlantic306 - I was just wondering why you removed the BLPPROD notice from Khalifa e Sindh‎. I'm not trying to challenge you with this question; I genuinely have very little experience with PROD. Quasar G. (talk) 22:37, 5 March 2017 (UTC)

Looking for more help

Atlantic306, you previously fixed the logo image on the Superstition Meadery page. There is a new image up there. I've tried to change it based on the link you provided in Talk, I have not however been successful. Could you please take the time at some point to fix the current image? All the best, justindevine — Preceding unsigned comment added by Justindevine (talkcontribs) 18:31, 7 March 2017 (UTC)

Indian TV articles...

Hi Atlantic, thanks for this. There's no pressure to read any of this, but for several months I've been tracking something I've dubbed the Campaign of Ignorance that has polluted a lot of Indian television articles. It's like people are going out of their way to bring articles into conformity with an incorrectly formatted template that only they know about, and to remove real-world content and other useful information like whether someone is part of the main or recurring cast. (Hence my description of the problem as a campaign to promote ignorance.) No pressure to read the the whole thing (or any of it) but if you read the bolded summaries it might give you an idea of the sort of thing that has been very difficult to maintain. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 18:19, 1 February 2017 (UTC)

@Cyphoidbomb: Hi. I visited this talk page to discuss something with Atlantic, and this title for the section caught my eye. I have same thoughts as of you, about Indian TV articles. I would like to contribute with you. Also, i am from India, so this fact can give you an Indian perspective. This may also help with finding information from relaible sources and similar stuff. If you reply me anywhere on wiki, kindly ping me. —usernamekiran (talk) 23:02, 8 March 2017 (UTC)
Hi Usernamekiran, it's nice to meet you. I don't do much in the way of building articles in the world of Indian entertainment, rather I spend a good deal of time managing disruption and trying to get these articles to adhere to basic community standards like MOS:TV and MOS:FILM. It would be very helpful to have more strong, vocal editors to participate in our various communities, like the Indian cinema task force for instance. I find that while there are many very strong editors at WikiProject Television and WikiProject Film, the majority of focus is on western entertainment, and editors don't have the experience or the interest to work on Indian articles. I wound up in Indian entertainment articles because I noticed there was pervasive corruption in film articles and it offended me. People doing marketing in articles, inflating box office figures, rampant sockpuppetry, etc. Anyhow, we could use more help but I think that maybe where you could make the best contributions is by digging in and starting to edit, as well as becoming friends with other Indian entertainment editors. We've lost many strong users, even administrators, to sockpuppetry, so we need to rebuild our user base. If I can be of any help, please drop me a line on my talk page. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 23:27, 8 March 2017 (UTC)

March 2017, requesting guidance/help

Hello. Would you please provide me some guidance regarding editing on wikipedia? I edited some pages recently. On Trial of Clay Shaw, i didnt make much changes with content/text, but i did with images. I did a lot of rework of Buldhana district though. Would you please give me suggestion regarding improvement of Buldhana (especially the infobox issue, it has been discussed on the talk page), and Buldhana district? Kindly do not make the edits directly, i want to learn lol. Thanks a lot again. PS: please ping me whenever, wherever you want to communicate with me. —usernamekiran (talk) 23:09, 8 March 2017 (UTC)

@Usernamekiran: The Buldana district article looks very good, will try to help with the Buldhana infobox tomorrow. However, I would advise you not to create an article for Luna Star as porn bios are very unpopular with a lot of editors who would be very quick to try and delete it, thanks Atlantic306 (talk) 00:10, 9 March 2017 (UTC)
  • @Atlantic306: hi. Thanks for the infobox help. And also, thanks for advice regarding Luna Star. I was not aware of this tendency of the editors. But if I insert reliable sources, and content in proper quantity (neither making it a stub, nor excessively detailed), and make it an encyclopaedic articles, would they still be able to delete it? —usernamekiran (talk) 03:31, 9 March 2017 (UTC)
It would have a better chance with reliable sources but they would probably take it to AFD, thanks Atlantic306 (talk) 03:41, 9 March 2017 (UTC)

I would like to review the decision to delete page Core Practice. Where can I submit a revised draft?

Hi, instructions are at WP:Deletion review but I would advise going through the WP:AFC process, and making the article less advert like and including references to WP:Reliable sources, thanks Atlantic306 (talk) 22:05, 10 March 2017 (UTC)

Phoenix Forgotten (film)

Hi Atlantic306, You recently sent me a talk message asking that I refrain from posting unconstructive edits for the page in the subject line. I'm new to Wikipedia so any additional guidance as to what I did wrong would be appreciated. I reviewed the text that was removed from the Plot section and I saw nothing objectionable. Can you please elaborate so I can understand better what prompted your removal of the text for future knowledge. Thank you --Markduston (talk) 18:35, 10 March 2017 (UTC)

Hi Atlantic306, Thank you for your reply to my above message. You said in your reply that the text was a direct copy of the text from MovieWeb. I'm sure that is accurate but the text was actually copied from the Cinelou Films official press release for the film. MovieWeb may have directly copied that text and posted it on their website but the actual source is the press release. I have direct permission from Cinelou Films who produced the film in conjunction with Scott Free to use the verbiage on the press release. Is that a problem? Even if I have permission, do I have to still re-word the copy? I'm happy to do that if that is the correct way to stay within Wikipedia's guidelines. Thank you for you time on this and thanks for helping keep Wikipedia honest. Best Markduston (talk) 22:43, 10 March 2017 (UTC)

Hi - yes, I noticed that, but now seems to have reverted to 66. Maybe I should change my name to Dorian Gray! Thanks, WWD — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.117.103.181 (talk) 10:09, 13 March 2017 (UTC)

Tejasswi's birth place

Sir i would like to ask you that why are changing tejaswi's birth place to Jeddah if it is Mumbai TAditya (talk) 17:32, 14 March 2017 (UTC)

Because the reference says Jeddah, if that is incorrect a reference stating the birthplace is Mumbai is needed before it is changed, thanks Atlantic306 (talk) 17:37, 14 March 2017 (UTC)

Thanks again for your help! How about if I place a copy of the infobox into Talk:38th Air Defense Artillery Brigade (United States) and we can both work on it from there! I can always use some constructive pointers!——→StephenTS42 (talk) 11:25, 15 March 2017 (UTC)
If you like, its very good except two of the images could be centered, thanks Atlantic306 (talk) 18:02, 15 March 2017 (UTC)
OK, will look into it and do as I am working on the article presently. Oh, BTW any further suggestions, comments and such-- if you will please-- ought be placed in the article's talk page. I think that's a rule, but I could have been misinformed. Thanks again!——→StephenTS42 (talk) 21:11, 15 March 2017 (UTC)

Hello,

You noted a copyright violation on my page, despite my credible sources. Can you please let me know what is wrong? Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.160.138.50 (talk) 13:53, 22 March 2017 (UTC)

The additions you made were a copyviolation of http://artdaily.com/news/87230/Renowned-art-world-leader-Cheyenne-Westphal-named-Chairman-of-Phillips-auction-house#.WMklvm-LQdU. You need to reword some of the information and possibly put it in a different order. The sources are ok but no direct copy is allowed, thanks Atlantic306 (talk) 14:05, 22 March 2017 (UTC)
