Welcome to Wikipedia, Audiesdad! I am Ke4roh and have been editing Wikipedia for quite some time. Thank you for your contributions. I just wanted to say hi and welcome you to Wikipedia! If you have any questions check out Wikipedia:Questions, or feel free to leave me a message on my talk page or type {{helpme}} at the bottom of this page. I love to help new users, so don't be afraid to leave a message! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Also, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name using four tildes (~~~~); that should automatically produce your username and the date after your post. Again, welcome!

Some editing tools you might like

Do you know about THC site? You can search by County for markers, etc. The key to being able to get an URL you can stick in a Wikipedia citation is your mouse right click. Let's say you want to search for Audie Murphy in Collin County:

  • Input his name in the upper left hand search box.
  • Under "Scope of search" limit it by checking County and using the arrow to bring up Collin
  • Under Record Types to View, limit it again by, say, Historical Markers
  • Click the green Search at the bottom

That should bring up a selection of what in Collin County mentions Audie Murphy. You can view each one by just left-clicking on the Historical Marker link, and it will show the record on the right-hand side of the screen. But if you want it to produce a useable URL for citation, right-click instead and and tell it "Open in a new tab" or "Open in a new window". That way, the URL that appears is useable in a citation. If you just left-click it's just a generic URL that is not good for citations.

Toolbar

[edit]

I think you have to be signed in as an account to get the toolbar. But if you do, the toolbar has a drop-down box for citation templates that makes it really handy when you edit.

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 02:46, 24 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
