File source and copyright licensing problem with File:Agnes Monica at 2004 AMI.jpg[edit]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Agnes Monica at 2004 AMI.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 22:26, 1 May 2011 (UTC). If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fut.Perf. 22:26, 1 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have added the source of the image and its copyright status. I hope that's sufficient.Awriterwrites (talk) 04:48, 2 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'm afraid not. There is no indication that anything on the site you quoted is licensed under {{FAL}}. In fact, there is no indication anythig on that site actually belongs to the site in the first place. It's just a blog that has itself grabbed images wildly from all over the place. Where did you get that "FAL" from? Did you just make it up? Please understand that the idea is not for you to invent a license under which to publish it. You must prove that the actual owner has explicitly published it in this way. And if they haven't, you simply must not upload the image. There's no way we can use it.
BTW, technically, if you want to modify an image description page, don't do it by going through the upload form again, because what you write there won't in fact end up on the page. Just click the "edit" button like on any other page to edit. Fut.Perf. 05:59, 2 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your explanation. Yes, it is a blog. But in the right upper corner, the owner mentioned, "Indonesian Heartthrob blog belongs to Furansizuka. Give me/this blog a credit if you copy/use the articles/pictures. myfreecopyright Reg: WBB88_B54F_C03BB." If this myfreecopyright is not considered as "FAL", could you explain what does it fall into and how I could use the picture. Awriterwrites (talk) 06:54, 2 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Strange, I can't find that remark anywhere. But in any case, the "myfreecopyright" is not a license, it's just a registry for asserting copyright. I now notice he does have a "CC" license at the bottom of his page, but it's the "noncommercial–no derivatives" version, so it wouldn't be free enough for us. And even if it were, there's still the fact that it's almost 100% certain he doesn't own the images in the first place.
I can't prove that the image is his, and I'm considering to change it with a picture from kapanlagi.com. Would it be okay to upload the pic in wikipedia if I got the permission from the website? Awriterwrites (talk) 09:05, 2 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Agnes at AMI 2004.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. damiens.rf 15:32, 9 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion has been contested. Declaration of consent has been sent to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org. I'm not sure if I'm missing any steps here. Awriterwrites (talk) 15:47, 9 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
That's ok. Someone with otrs access will review the permission and fix the tag. Thanks, --damiens.rf 17:16, 9 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Agnes Monica[edit]

Do you speak in Bahasa? Well, this is my response:

  • You say that Chinese ancestry isn't relevant to this article.

  • You ask why few sentences were removed in the second paragraph.

Terlalu detil kok, apalagi sampai nyinggung-nyinggung 'controversial', serius? Penyebutan 'the chairman of Korea Foundation for International Culture and Exchange' juga tidak penting.

Begitu menurut saya, Salam :)) Bluesatellite (talk) 11:52, 16 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The lead section in most Wikipedia's biography articles doesn't always have to write in "Main idea and supporting sentences" concept. We should write the paragraph chronologically, because lead section summarize the whole article. Well, I'd love to make it a FA, but FA nomination here is much much harder than in Wikipedia bahasa Indonesia :( Bluesatellite (talk) 12:55, 16 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Again, Lead section doesn't always have to write in with main idea, but should summarize the whole article. We do not need to emphasize about her dream of international-career. Being a judge and a producer are important, because they are part of her artistic development. And about 'Discography', in many interviews, Agnes has always considered And the Story Goes as her first and Sacredly Agnezious her third studio album (her official website even does not mention her kid albums). The Kid albums, mini albums, and compilations go to 'Other albums'. Bluesatellite (talk) 13:23, 16 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

In second paragraph we talk all about her career as an adult singer in Indonesia (from And the Story Goes to Sacredly Agnezious). Maybe in future, we expand the next paragraph about her career as an international singer (I hope). Again and again, lead section doesn't always have to write in with main idea, look at Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, etc. Bluesatellite (talk) 13:46, 16 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Controversy? Seriously, I don't ever think proclaiming to go international is a "controversial thing" as you insist. It is no no no more important than the rest of her life and career. This is the last time I explain to you. Agnes Monica is a biography article, of course its lead section must summarize her whole life. Current lede has been balance because it describes every notable aspect of her life and career so far, not just emphasize her fans' point of view about going international. I hope you understand Bluesatellite (talk) 11:33, 18 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It looks fine to me :) Bluesatellite (talk) 09:35, 19 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

GA nom for Agnes Monica[edit]

Good luck! We need more GAs on Indonesian celebrities (I'm waiting on one myself at the moment) Crisco 1492 (talk) 05:08, 6 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. Good luck to you too :) Awriterwrites (talk) 15:07, 6 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • I've reviewed the nomination and there is quite a bit of work to do. As a side note, you seem to have good luck with KapanLagi.com. Could you get them to release a couple pictures of Gita Gutawa, Melly Goeslaw, and Chrisye if possible? Crisco 1492 (talk) 13:09, 2 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Thank you for your review, but I'm not sure if I can fix all of them in just 7 days :( I just moved in to a new flat and have no internet connection until Dec 11. I'm using the internet at my office now, so I have limited time to edit the article. Is it possible to extend it to another 7 days (after I have my internet connection at home)?
  • Have you tried asking the pictures from KapanLagi.com? How did it go? I can ask them for you, but I need the links of the pictures that you want. You can find the pictures in KapanLagi.com picture gallery. If they don't have the pictures, they won't be able to release them.
  • I just tried. Okay, I'll try and do some of it for you. (I said two weeks, btw... LOL) Crisco 1492 (talk) 00:38, 6 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Crisco 1492, could you comment on my concern about Agnes Monica's surname on the article's talk page? It's true that some Indonesian names don't have family names, but Agnes comes from Chinese background. Most Chinese Indonesian families have converted their names to Indonesian names, but still include their family names in their last names. It is shown in the pattern of her family names. Ricky Muljoto is her father's name, Steve Muljoto is her brother's name, and her full name is Agnes Monica Muljoto. I'm not sure how I should refer to her in the article, so I just simply use her first name, as her surname is never used in the media. Awriterwrites (talk) 03:47, 6 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • If you haven't checked out the picture gallery, it is here: galeri foto. When I asked Agnes' pictures to KapanLagi.com, the Editor in Chief contacted me the next day. She likes Wikipedia and seems very willing to help Wikipedia editors. If you have given them the procedures of how to release the pictures, I think there shouldn't be any problem of getting the permission from them. Let me know how it comes out, I can contact her if you don't receive any reply from them after few days :) Awriterwrites (talk) 06:59, 6 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • I got the Balada Salawat picture from there. I will see if she replies... don't know if she will. Side note: this would be good for both Gita and Erwin's articles. Crisco 1492 (talk) 07:15, 6 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Although if she granted us permission to use one of these three pictures, I think we could have a featured picture of Gutawa... Crisco 1492 (talk) 07:49, 6 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have edited what you have highlighted on AG's GA review. Awriterwrites (talk) 10:53, 7 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • K, I'll take a look as soon as I can. I have an essay to write for class. Crisco 1492 (talk) 13:05, 7 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • K, commented there. Coming around nicely. Your dead links can be seen here. Still waiting on KapanLagi.com, sadly; at least Gita Gutawa has been passed already. Crisco 1492 (talk) 15:07, 7 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Congratulations on passing the article :)
  • I will contact KapanLagi.com about the pictures. I will ask the permission for her profile picture (it seems to be the best picture on your list, IMO). However, the picture for Balada Salawat album seems similar with what has already been included in Balada Shalawat article. What do you want to use the picture for? I need a justification to explain to them :)
  • If you change your mind or I miss picture(s) that I have to ask, please let me know. I want to ask the permission in one go.
  • Btw, I have added more comments on AG's GA review. Could you also look at my comment about "University of Pelita Harapan" in the "prose issues" section.
Awriterwrites (talk) 02:36, 8 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • The one in Balada Shalawat right now is the album cover; if we had a free picture from the press conference, it could go in the proper section of the main article. If they allow it, this would be nice for the Awards section and this would be nice to show her with Erwin (at the top of the biography section). I will get to Agnes in a minute. Crisco 1492 (talk) 02:50, 8 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • I have sent an email about Gita Gutawa's pictures. I'll let you know after I receive a reply. Let's hope there will be some pictures released :) Awriterwrites (talk) 04:21, 8 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Crisco 1492, have you looked at my comments on "prose issues" section? Should we stick to University of Pelita Harapan, or change it either to Pelita Harapan University or Universitas Pelita Harapan. Btw, I have left some comments too on the GA review section. Awriterwrites (talk) 08:28, 8 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • I'd go with Pelita Harapan University. For the GA icons, I will give it another two hours and then change it myself. I think it's supposed to be automatic. Crisco 1492 (talk) 11:20, 8 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • No reply until now. I think I have run out of luck with KapanLagi.com :( Awriterwrites (talk) 13:08, 20 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Waddup[edit]

GA?
Congratulations on bringing Agnes Monica to GA status! She's one of Indonesia's biggest stars right now, so it's only right that she should have a good article.

Kira-kira sebentar lagi dia bisa menemukan mataharinya. Crisco 1492 (talk) 06:56, 8 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

you never pasted this nomination page on WP:FLC, meaning that nobody reviewed it for months... Do you want it to be nominated correctly, or will you still work on it? On a quick glance there are several issues which are betterd fixed before the nomination. Regards.--Kürbis () 08:29, 9 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 01:17, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
