HELP!

Would you please do me the favor of taking a look at the recent edits to PBS KIDS by Timothy Chavis? Since PBS Kids is no longer a network, is the broadcast infobox appropriate? Esp with the changes he's made to it? And what do you think the deal is with the cleanup tag--other than that he messed up the formatting himself?? Thanks....Gladys J Cortez 22:31, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:KCBY.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:KCBY.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot (talk) 19:38, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

WGN-TV

Once again, Rollosmokes has resumed edit warring and continues to disregard Wikipedia editors' instructions to stop reverting "The CW" and "The WB" to "the CW" and "the WB", while I unfairly continue to be labeled as a "sock puppet." Please advise. Thanks. TV9 (talk) 03:47, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

Response to TV9

Please pardon me, Azumanga1, but I have to do this here:
If you ("TV9") have a problem with me or my edits, then speak to me directly and stop running to a middle-person (i.e. Azumanga1) for help. By the way, I haven't touched your sacred WGN-TV article for a full week. ([1]) I really think it's hypocritical coming from someone who hasn't edited anything here in over two months, and only appears when his favorite article (your way of violating WP:OWN and WP:POINT) is changed. Change the sound of your one-note song, please. Rollosmokes (talk) 05:37, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

ESPN template

If you are going to add the canadian channels to espn template, then add them all, not just the sports channels, like viewers choice, animal planet, discovery channel, discovery hd, discovery civization, nhl network... and also remove wtsn as it is no longer on the air. 99.236.63.51 (talk) 03:37, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

This is my user page and I will say what goes on my user page and what doesn't ok. 99.236.63.51 (talk) 17:32, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

ESPN

ESPN does own a interest in all of the channels that I listed in the ESPN template. Have you even checked each of the articles websites to see if ESPN owns an interest or not? Because ESPN does. ESPN owns a 20% interest in CTV Specialty Television Inc., which owns TSN, RDS, RIS, ESPN Classics Canada, Viewers Choice, NHL Network Canada, Animal Planet Canada, Discovery channel Canada, Discovery HD Canada and Discovery Civilization Channel. Check each articles website for youeself to see. Check here and you can also check the CRTC website here and here. Theres all the proof you need. 99.236.63.51 (talk) 03:03, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

I gave you an outside source, HERE, that's your outside source that ESPN owns an interest in Discovery Channel Canada and al of the other channels I listed. And HERES another link from the CRTC website showing that ESPN owns an interest in other channels. I am giving you many outside sources showing this and you still revert it, if this continues, then it may lead to you being blocked because it is a form of continued vandalism. 99.236.63.51 (talk) 03:21, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

This is the only warning you will receive for your disruptive edits.
If you vandalize Wikipedia again, as you did to Template:ESPN, you will be blocked from editing. -- 99.236.63.51 (talk) 03:28, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

This is the last warning you will receive for your disruptive edits.
The next time you delete or blank page content or templates from Wikipedia, as you did to WYSX, you will be blocked from editing. This is because you deleted over half of the article. Why!?! Milonica (talk) 03:08, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Please do not delete content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to WAMF, without explaining the valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear constructive, and has been reverted. Please make use of the sandbox if you'd like to experiment with test edits. Further, marking a major change like this as a minor one is considered poor etiquette. The rule of thumb is that only an edit that consists solely of spelling corrections, formatting changes, or rearranging of text without modifying content should be flagged as a 'minor edit.' Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Michiganchannel.gif

Thank you for uploading Image:Michiganchannel.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 14:44, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Re:ESPN Template

For the final time, I have already given you a outside url proving that ESPN Inc. owns an interest in all of those channels I listed. It is already stated in each of the specific channels article that the channels are owned by CTV Specialty Television Inc. And CTV Specialty Television Inc. is 80% owned by CTVglobemedia and 20% owned by ESPN Inc. And CTV Specialty Television Inc. owns all of those channels that I lised in the template.

That is how it works. It does not matter whatsoever whether ESPN Inc. owns an interest in the American versions of these channels or not, but they do own an interest in the Canadian ones.

For a second time, heres the proof: 1. First of all, check each specific article for yourself. It states it there. 2. Secondly check this link and it clearly shows what I explained earlyier. 3. Third, here are 2 outside url links from the CRTC's website, an ownership charts, that clearly shows the ownership of these channels and you will see that ESPN INc. owns a 20% interest in them all. LINK 1 and LINK 2

There is all the proof you need. I have stated this before to you and I have also given you proof of this before as well, so by reverting these articles, it is considered vandalism, and if this continues then an Wikipedia administator will need to intervine and you will be blocked. Thank you! 99.236.63.51 (talk) 02:15, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Kxof.JPG)

Thanks for uploading Image:Kxof.JPG.

WCVB-TV

Yes, a channel 5 existed prior to WCVB-TV. The article, however, is not about that station—it is about WCVB, and WCVB came into existence in 1972. 121a0012 (talk) 05:54, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

standardization

I've noticed that many television station templates have been migrating towards using the navbox template instead of custom templates. perhaps we should start helping out with the rest, starting with Detroit, NYC, and Los Angeles?

As well, since canada has templates listing stations by network, should we do the same for America (such as Template:NBC Stations)? RingtailedFoxTalkContribs 10:57, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Wkyutv.jpg

Thank you for uploading Image:Wkyutv.jpg.

Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 07:04, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

KPNX ID

Your comments here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:KPNX#KPNX_ID KPNX usually IDs itself as KPNX-TV KPNX-DT Phoenix-Mesa. The stations official COL is Mesa but as I have stated before COL really does not mean much anymore. All a COL gets is a top of ID on screen or audio on TV and audio on radio. In addition COL gets a city grade signal. The same is said of WOI-TV which IDs itself WOI-TV WOI-DT Des Moines-Ames (Ames is the COL). However if they are IDing themselves just as KPNX-DT they are breaking the law as the analog signal must be included in it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Oak999 (talkcontribs) 20:43, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for theadvice on the category which I created "Religious programmes".I did not know at the time of the two closely allied categories, covering "Religious television series" and "Religious radio series".The category has now served its use, as some articles, such as that on the UK series Songs of Praise, have now been categorised as "Religious television series" - I think the new one can be deleted, and sorry about not knowing about these similar categories! OUTtv pages

Hi, recently you made various edits to both OUTtv and OUTTV, redirecting both and creating disambig pages. Disambig pages are used for article titles that have the exact same spelling, ie. Cosmopolitan Television where there are several different CosmoTV channels around the world which have the exact same spelling, so a disambig page would be useful in that enstance to distinguish between the different channels from around the world. OUTtv and OUTTV are different as they both use different spelling, no disambig page is required here. In both articles, it clearly states in the "See also" section to refer to this article for that subject. At most, all may be needed is at the top of the page it state "For the similiar television channel in the Netherlands see: OUTTV" and viseversa. Thank you for your edits but they are unnecessary. MusiMax (talk) 02:35, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

Rather, I should say, there is no need for the nationally in the title of the article as both channels use different spelling, a disambig page using "OUT TV" or more appropriate "Out TV" would be fine, but the nationally of the service as in "OUTtv (Canada)" is not needed as both services use different spelling. New Project

Myself and several other editors have been compiling a list of very active editors who would likely be available to help new editors in the event they have questions or concerns. As the list grew and the table became more detailed, it was determined that the best way to complete the table was to ask each potential candidate to fill in their own information, if they so desire. This list is sorted geographically in order to provide a better estimate as to whether the listed editor is likely to be active.

If you consider yourself a very active Wikipedian who is willing to help newcomers, please either complete your information in the table or add your entry. If you do not want to be on the list, either remove your name or just disregard this message and your entry will be removed within 48 hours. The table can be found at User:Useight/Highly Active, as it has yet to have been moved into the Wikipedia namespace. Thank you for your help. Useight (talk) 17:05, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:Choifm.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Choifm.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Fair use rationale for Image:Kmay.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Kmay.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Friendly reminder about talk page messages

Hello. As a recent editor to User talk:66.102.80.212, I wanted to leave you a friendly reminder that as per WP:USER, editors may remove messages at will from their own talk page. While we may prefer that messages be archived, policy does not prohibit users -including anonymous users- from deleting comments from their own talk pages. The only talk page messages that may not be removed (as per WP:BLANKING) are declined unblock requests (but only while blocks are still in effect), confirmed sockpuppetry notices, or shared IP header templates (for anonymous editors) ... and these exceptions are just to keep a user from gaming the system. --Kralizec! (talk) 16:58, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

Your statement [3] "right to removal does not apply to IP addresses" is incorrect according to WP:USER. Please do not revert-war on this -or any other- user's talk page as it is a waste of everyone's time (not to mention being utterly futile). --Kralizec! (talk) 01:32, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

A puzzler

Hi! I've been looking through some of my past contribs and noticed something. I appreciate you adding the Non-free fair use rationale template to Image:Conan widescreen.jpg to save it from CSD though I'm stumped as to why it was needed. I'd added a fair-use rationale for the image's use in both articles. Did I misread something or is it the template itself that's required? MeekSaffron (talk) 05:15, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

I'm taking a break...

Because you have been one of the editors with whom I have a good working relationship, I've decided to write this to you directly.

I'm taking a break from editing for a while. There's too much going on with me in this place that I need to regroup, enjoy the summer, and refocus. I feel that there is a lack of cohesiveness and willingness to share opinions and work together the way we should here, at least in certain areas. Right now, all of this is coming to a head for me, and I've decided to take a step back. I'm not sure when I'll return, but I will. Keep up the good work, and hold the fort until I return. What to do?

Recent airchecks (recent by a couple weeks) show WCDX continues to brand itself "Power 92 Jamz". - NeutralHomerTalk 00:03, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
After listening to this station (via the internet) it appears that the station is using both "Power 92-1 Jamz" and "iPower 92-1". I have added both to the infobox and a section below the history on the WCDX page. I will send an email to the person I get airchecks from and make sure they are up-to-date, because obviously they aren't. - NeutralHomerTalk 00:30, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:KBJR-6.jpg.

Image copyright problem with Image:KWVT.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:KWVT.jpg.

Request to move article WDCQ-DT incomplete

You recently filed a request at Wikipedia:Requested moves to move the page WDCQ-DT to a different title - however your proposal is either incomplete or has been contested as being controversial. As a result, it has been moved to the incomplete and contested proposals section. Requests that remain incomplete after five days will be removed.

Please make sure you have completed all three of the following:

  1. Added {{move|NewName}} at the top of the talk page of the page you want moved, replacing "NewName" with the new name for the article. This creates the required template for you there.
  2. Added {{subst:RMtalk|NewName|reason for move}} to the bottom of the talk page of the page you want to be moved, to automatically create a discussion section there.
  3. Added {{subst:RMlink|PageName|NewName|reason for move}} to the top of today's section here.

If you need any further guidance, please leave a message at Wikipedia talk:Requested moves or contact me on my talk page. - JPG-GR (talk) 06:02, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

Please let me know how I can help with the current readding (and rebuilding) of templates.

Also, not to be picky, but could you please archive some of your talk page. When I post, when I type something it is slow to appear on the screen dur to the 328kb size. Just letting ya know. Take Care....NeutralHomerTalk 03:52, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

Ford Lions Report on WJMN air time?

Where'd you get the information about WJMN airing The Ford Lions Report at 11:35 pm Saturdays? The Official Site for it says WJMN airs the show at 7:30 am Sundays. However, The Lions site is known to have out-of- date information so it may be their mistake. If you have a more up to date, reliable source, please post it. Image copyright problem with Image:Soptv.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Soptv.jpg.

Template:Salisbury TV‎

I wouldn't trust the availability on TVGuide.com. According to it, it says where I live I can recieve KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh (I actually get WMAR from Baltimore). Plus, an LP or CA station from Washington, DC would not be seen in Salisbury. - NeutralHomerTalk • November 2, 2008 @ 01:14

Also, WFDC-TV is the only station available on Cable (Comcast Channel 20) in Salisbury. - NeutralHomerTalk • November 2, 2008 @ 01:18
I just checked my channel lineup, as a Comcast subscriber in Salisbury, MD. WZDC is on channel 600, and WMDO is on channel 612. WFDC on 20 as you say. David (talk) 01:25, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

What is your source for KCWK being a digital-only station? KCWE is digital-only, but KCWK is a Pappas Telecasting CW 9 affiliate which was supposed to flash-cut next month (but which instead is now dark). --66.102.80.212 (talk) 22:04, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

Just because the album has had numerous covers is no reason to include them. There are also various American and Asian covers- it would be ridiculous to include them all. Additional covers need only be included if they themselves are significant in some way- though the rerelease is worthy of discussion, the rerelease's cover is not, and so the illustration adds little to the article- certainly not enough to warrant excusing the usual aims of free content. Hi
Concerning WCBZ-LP, WLPN-LP and WOIL-LP: speedy deletion defines criteria where a page may be deleted without discussion. It doesn't say that it must, and consensus in previous discussions about that criteria was that if the page is useful, it shouldn't be speedied just because it was created by a banned user.

I am uncertain why you reverted this article because, in doing so, you've reintroduced dozens of errors in the series overview section (dates, episode numbers, color codes, etc.). I have restored the article to a version prior to your reversion -- this allows for all the previous formatting corrections which coordinates between the overview and the individual season sections. If you have a specific concern about this, please let me know. Cheers. CactusWriter | needles 16:05, 7 March 2009 (UTC)

STOP THE DISCUSSION!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have check episodes on George Shrinks and they are out of order. It made its debut on the PBS Kids Bookworm Bunch on September 30, 2000. You haven't checked this website [4], haven't you? They are in the right position but they seem out of order here. Revert the changes and make sure it's back the way I wanted it. P.S. On the Electric Company, Francine Carruthers stole Keith Watson's skill, not Annie Scrambler. And don't forget to find more episodes and summarize it for me at this other website [5]. P.P.S. I want the fundings for this show to have the year it was made and make it just the way I want it! Thanks. 71.140.104.248 (talk) 05:51, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

I don't know why you're asking me privately. Is User:Y32 one of his socks? That user was caught vandalizing my user page and was indefinitely blocked. If it isn't him, this question would be more appropriate on a public board such as WT:TVS and WT:CVU. TomCat4680 (talk) 01:13, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:Wtnz2006.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Wtnz2006.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Geniac (talk) 01:10, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

Templates

The rule for television templates is that we apply only the one for the region in which a station originates, not the one for a neighbouring region that the signal merely happens to spill into. The Seattle/Bellingham TV template already provides a text link to the BC TV template, which is all that's needed. An article should almost never have more than three navboxes of any type (TV, city, whatever) on it at once, and the ones that are there need to be restricted to those of the most direct and immediate relevance, not ones of secondary relevance like neighbouring TV markets. Gaz Metro (no accent acute!)

One of the many reasons that we don't use foreign letters in English is because the title of the article (in this case) won't show up on an English search for the article. There is no e-accent acute on my keyboard as there may be with yours. And French is a foreign language to most English-speakers and therefore they wouldn't know to search for it that way in the first place.

Please move it back! Thanks. Student7 (talk) 11:12, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

Media lists

There's no real reason to change a rebroadcaster's link in a media table from [[CBMT|CBMT-3]] to [[CBMT]]-3. It doesn't change the actual functionality of the link — it merely makes the table look sloppy with no discernible benefit to the reader. Bearcat (talk) 06:12, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

WHLV and their blank subchannels

Hey, guy, I recognize your handle from the radio-info.com boards. Regarding WHLV and your reversion of the update about there being no programming on their subchannels (an update that I did not have a personal hand in, other than to correct a couple of minor spelling/grammar issues).....I know the need for sources but, c'mon, a couple million Central Florida TV viewers can plainly see that those channels have been blank from the start, so what kind of "sources" do you need? Unless it gets reported in the local media, or WHLV publicly 'fesses up to their technical problems, there's probably not going to be a citeable source (other than a couple million pairs of eyeballs). I'm all for accuracy and accountability for the info on Wikipedia, but this is a little like insisting on sources to confirm that the sky is blue. StanislavJ (talk) 11:54, 4 September 2009 (UTC)

WONS/WNGS

I'd be interested to know where you received your information regarding the relationship between WNGS and WONS. I have corrected most all of the errors in the two articles. WONS shared a UPN affiliation with WNGS, but there was no other relationship between the two stations. WONS was never a translator or repeater for WNGS. WONS ceased carrying the UPN programming when WNGS was included on the cable system in Olean. I worked for WONS/W25AK/W20AB for nearly 15 years. In fact, I was the one who suggested the WONS call sign, although the one we really wanted was WXXV. Regardless, I appreciate your including an article on WONS on Wikipedia. It brought back many fond memories of the station that I helped to build. RevJPW (talk) 01:59, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
