Unfree onion[edit]

{{User:UBX/Onion}} used an un-free image, namely the logo of The Onion. You're not supposed to use those in userboxes or other templates according to Wikipedia:Fair use criteria. Yet when Zscout370 called you on this mistake and replaced the un-free image, you went ahead and reverted. --Damian Yerrick 21:41, 10 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your Userpage[edit]

The user 209.106.168.1 recently made 3 edits to your userpage, all of a malicious nature. I have reverted the offending edits. Please feel free to remove this message at any time. The Neokid Talk 19:07, 19 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. This appears to have continued. I will make sure the user is blocked.

Your userboxes[edit]

Because of the current campaign against userboxes, it's pretty likely that many of your boxes are going to get deleted from their template space soon (especially your Flying Spaghetti Monsterism box and any political boxes, but in general, any boxes that could be considered to express a point of view someone might disagree with). These templates will very likely be deleted in the next week or two. The best (and really, only) way to protect those userboxes is to perform a "substitute" command on each one of them, which will put the code directly into your page, instead of calling on the template every time your page is loaded. That way, when the template is deleted, it has no effect on the code resident on your page.

In order to do this, go into your user page, and wherever you have a template, insert "subst" inside the brackets. So,

{{template name}} becomes {{subst:template name}}

and your userboxes will all take up residence on your page. Sometimes this makes the formatting funky, and will require some tweaking in the code to restore the layout of your boxes as they were before. If you have any questions about this, please drop me a line. Regards, JDoorjam Talk 23:11, 19 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:EagleLogo.jpg[edit]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:EagleLogo.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI 01:41, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Calciumkidthe.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Calciumkidthe.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 04:22, 12 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

File:Pchain2.jpg needs authorship information[edit]

Dear uploader:

The media file you uploaded as File:Pchain2.jpg appears to be missing information as to its authorship (and or source), or if you did provide such information, it is confusing for others trying to make use of the image.

It would be appreciated if you would consider updating the file description page, to make the authorship of the media clearer.

Although some images may not need author information in obvious cases, (such where an applicable source is provided), authorship information aids users of the image, and helps ensure that appropriate credit is given (a requirement of some licenses).

  • If you created this media yourself, please consider explicitly including your user name, for which: {{subst:usernameexpand|B3yondwond3rland}} will produce an appropriate expansion,
    or use the {{own}} template.
  • If this is an old image, for which the authorship is unknown or impossible to determine, please indicate this on the file description page.
If you have any questions please see Help:File page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 13:21, 29 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
