I was looking at the article your created. Very nice! I see however it -is- was tagged for lacking citations and possible original research. I know finding reliable sources can be difficult for many stamp articles. When I created the Washington-Franklin Issues and the US Regular Issues of 1922-1931 I used Scott's Catalogue for many of the citations. I reverted your modified translation because the version quoted in the article is taken from a published source. I don't speak German, so I can't vouch for its accuracy. If you feel the translation is erroneous or misleading, you should try to find a better published translation. Alternatively, you could point out alternate translations of specific words in a footnote. But you can't change the language of a direct quote.

Just FYI, the quoted translation is offered pretty widely (though it is by no means definitive), probably because it makes a pretty good poem in English. Ravpapa (talk) 04:31, 27 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

How very considerate of you! But, as it happens, I myself tried to delete the article by wiping all the text, not realizing that won't do it. The subject was one of those I found on the "articles requested for creation" list; and when I saw that an article in French wikipedia existed, I got it up and translated it. (I also did this recently with Hindemith's Konzertmusik for Brass and String Orchestra--the article isn't much good, but it's better than nothing.) After doing the Dvorak, however, I went to his work list and saw that English Wikipedia has excellent separate entries for the individual symphonic poems which have much better info than the writer of the French article provided. Hence I deleted it, lest somebody consult it instead of seeking out the better articles! It really should be taken off the list as well (housekeeping at the music portal leaves much to be desired). But your encouragement is very welcome, and I appreciate it.BFolkman (talk) 14:02, 3 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I came here to tell you that, having read Ravpapa's request at WP:REFUND, I had restored the article. I should have checked your talk page first. I have re-deleted it.
Two tips which would make things clearer in a similar case: while blanking of a page by its sole author is taken as a request for deletion, that does sometimes cause misunderstanding. A more definite way to request deletion of an article where you have provided substantially all the content is to put {{db-author}} at the top. Also, a few words of WP:Edit summary, like "deletion requested - subject already covered" helps to remove any doubt.

Unsurpassable in exactly what aspect? Price? No! Rarity - there are other one-of-a-kind stamps, so no it can't be that? Definitely not a WP:NPOV. Rare is perfectly accurate. Other stamps are EQUALLY rare but none surpass the Blue Boy in rarity. Stamps of which 20,000 copies exist qualify as rare. Fair use, .TIFF vs. .JPEG files[edit]

I am trying to add stamps since 1976 by fair use guidelines of the USPS to Commemoration of the American Civil War on postage stamps using the upload wizard at Wikipedia.

I tried three fair usage items, First Bull Run, Irish immigration and Vicksburg battle along the format, but so far I have not been successful in calling up the image. My uploads for older stamps seem going alright on Wikimedia Commons, I have added five stamps there for use at my User:TheVirginiaHistorian/sandbox/U.S.Territories on postage stamps. as well as Nevada statehood for 'commemoration of ACW on postage stamps'.

On the fair use items, I think I omitted category: stamp on the pull down menu for two of them. I tried to resubmit today, is there a notice board that I can ask about the status of my uploads? Will the .tiff format in fair usage work in the fair use wizard -- it seems alright coming over from Wikimedia Commons.

I tried again today, in the title slot, the page automatically adds .tiff to the title, even when I alter the description. The selection at the bottom of the page does not let the upload continue, although all red starred boxes are filled. Mac allows 'Save as' from the default Grab .tiff file to .JPEG file, which I take to be the moral equivalent to .jpg on a PC. Another editor recommended trying .jpg. Am I on the right track for Mac?
