New message[edit]

Hey friend! I'm very happy to see you, particularly because I'm very soon leaving. It's good to know you're back here on WP as our dear friend BOLLYWOOD DREAMZ. How've you been? Which films have you watched recently and how's life been overall? ShahidTalk2me 09:08, 9 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I've missed speaking to you too!! How are you amigo? Let me know!! Count Blofeld 10:01, 9 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've watched Heroes and Fashion. Fashion was really well made. Heroes too was very good and Preity was brilliant. Have you seen how she spoke Punjabi? WOW! And have you heard of her win at the Chicago international film festival for Heaven on Earth? ShahidTalk2me 09:58, 10 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes indeed, studying is so demanding. I always wondered how Darwinek managed to put in so much wiki time alongside his studies. What is it you are studying again? Count Blofeld 13:21, 10 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Animated work is cool, VERY surprised Amitabh hasn't been approached long ago to do one. Absolutely mention it and describe what she did. Adds another element to the article. I'd imagine there would be decent sources available to sort it out. 20:10, 11 November 2008 (UTC) You're welcome. Once it is intergrated it could probably be polished up a litte but should be OK for a start. I've made some further slight adjustments just now, Take care Count Blofeld 22:09, 11 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hmmm Priyanka was good, and in a couple of scenes had overcome herself. BUT, she did not convince me completely. I think the role is brilliant, and that's the problem, the role is actually greater than her performance. I had problems with her dialogue delivery and lack of facial expressions. Overall, it is the role that makes it look larger than she herself could let herself think. But in an industry where most actors this year have not been great performers, in an industry where most people confuse between a role and a performance, in an industry where hype at times works better than telent, I quite think she is the next ruler of the award ceremonies, if a greater performance does not come in the following month.
The one who really captured me was Kangana. She really was brilliant in every frame, very expressive. She was her intense self. I was just amazed at this amazing range of emotions. She gave the film's best performance, and I think (OMG)... I'm becoming a fan..
As for Bhandarkar, he really is a master in delivering great acts for his leading ladies. Tabbu, Raveena, Konkona, Bipasha, and yes, Priyanka too -- all have given amazing performances.
Please tell me about Kareena's perfromrmance in Golmaal2. ShahidTalk2me 23:48, 11 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
LOL thanks... I really mean that. I personally can't get what Rani is doing... Is she really deaf-blind (LOL)? Can't she see and hear what everyody writes and says about her? The entire industry says she must find other options other than YRF, and she, on her part, only keeps doing films with them more and more.... What nonsense? She is such a talented girl, why does she ruin her career? Just the other day I read some article on TOI, and you know how they described her? "Queen of flops"...!! I was shocked...
And what's up with YRF? I think, after delivering initially good performances from their actresses they are now asserted to do the opposite. I was so disappointed at Preity's JBJ act. ShahidTalk2me 16:35, 12 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well it looks fine, but I had no problems with the previous version either. It of course looks better because too much praise makes it sticky, and it was a good step (but you definitely can mention that her role was received well). As you see I've had a kind of a problem with Heroes. I still don't know which review can be added on Preity's article.
BTW, I know Heaven on Earth was released in Canada already. Why have you not watched it? Do you plan to? ShahidTalk2me 18:35, 12 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
As for Preity's Heroes review - I swear I was thinking to add that HT quote. I'mm amazed that we share the same quote. hmm OK for the Indian Express quote on Bebo's Golmaal2 para, but don't say she was criticised. Change the statement to something like "Reviews for her role were mixed and the IE concluded" ShahidTalk2me 22:02, 12 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hey I saw your analysis yestersay. Well I quite like the IE, because it does not criticise and does not praise, and is very well written. I also liked the TOI, but now I don't think it's a good option, it's too incohorent and pretemtious.
As for character/performance, you are actually not obligated to add any. You can write just.... "Kapoor" -- hehehe!! ShahidTalk2me 07:41, 13 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I copyedited Bebo's article. But I now have a serious concern, and please don't laugh... I think it is a problem when Kapoor costars with an actor whose last name is also Kapoor, because then, if we refer to her as Kapoor - it becomes ambigious and the reader does not know who are we referring to in particular. During copyediting, I had that problem with JWM (Shahid also Kapoor), Bewafaa (Anil also Kapoor), Golmaal Returns (Tusshar...). Now there are many such instances when I think. She has to stop working with the Kapoors and stick to the Khans only LOL hahaha!!! But seriously, do you think it's not that of a big deal and I'm exaggerating? ShahidTalk2me 12:53, 13 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes please don't talk to me anymore... LOLL get serious why would I be? I just forgot to reply. I usually take my time to reply because you are generally coming quite some time after I log in. Dostana, I hope I'll find it somewhere on the net cause I can't see at cinema LOL!!! ShahidTalk2me 17:12, 14 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am in no hurry at all. You can go ahead and upload. I may take a while to expertise on OTRS. Here's the Image again http://www.bollywoodhungama.com/stills/partiesnevents/Premiere_of_Mere_Baap_Pehle_Aap/still42820.html Thanks, KensplanetTalkContributions 13:59, 10 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Mr. Dreamz. Could you please find some images of:

  1. Rekha!!!
  2. Amitabh Bachchan
  3. Shahrukh Khan
  4. Sunny Deol
  5. Vivek Oberoi
  6. Ajay Devgan
  7. Aftab Shivdasani
  8. Koena Mitra
  9. Johnny Lever

Count Blofeld 21:03, 17 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

And of Shahrukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan? SRK's image is particularly terrible. ShahidTalk2me 17:05, 18 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No no please don't get sad because of this. Copyright violation has been an integral part of Wikipedia's history, whether it's fair use images or free images. Users also upload images from flickr stating they are free, while the image link shows otherwise. From the very beginning I was completely sure that people would misuse the license. The only way to handle it is just fighting against it. There is no other way? What option have you thought of using? ShahidTalk2me 17:34, 18 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Aarrgh I just lost my detailed message in an edit conflict. Basically it is a shame that people are abusing it but it is quite understandable given the complex nature of the agreement. To be honest I'm surprised more people have tried to do so, Pity Riana isn't here, it takes weeks to sort our agreements everytime. You can't be held responsible for the actions of others, but I hope it won't result in the agremeent being scrapped by not fulfilling the guidelines to uploading. Count Blofeld 17:38, 18 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This idiot!!!!!!!!! I hate him!!!!!! Now how come the Sharmila Tagore article was moved to Ayesha Kahn????? He clearly has some mental problems. ShahidTalk2me 18:10, 18 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thankyou very much Bolly. You are a Bollywood Hero. If there is anything which I can help you with, then please please do not hesitate to inform me. I'll do it. Thanks, KensplanetTalkContributions

Yes nice images. Not sure about the copyright status of Image:Kapoor on NB4.jpg though. Surely this is owned by the TV company? Count Blofeld 18:37, 19 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Don't you dare - the main image is amazing and she's just gorgeous in it. None can match it, because it gives a close up on her face, and she even looks very warm in the image, something that contradicts her arrogant public image. And she also wears a saree, non of the following images show her wear traditional outfits. It's all because of you! You westernised chump! Kidding LOL!!
Would you upload other Zinta images if I found any? It's not that I want to add any images to the page, but it would be nice to see the commons gallery expanded. ShahidTalk2me 18:48, 19 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Glad to see, so long as it is OK. Why not upload images though for those who don't yet have any? Count Blofeld 18:51, 19 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

We ought to do what we did with the Bollywood blog and make a list of actors who don't have images. Yes by all means change the main pic back if you want. It does kinda look like she is naked and a bit startled. Count Blofeld 19:09, 19 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well it's up to you to decide. I don't have strong feelings about that. I was asked to opine, and that's what I did. It's obviously more appealing and intriguing to see a new image for us editors who see this page everyday. But to the average reader, the previous was better as she looked way better. In this one she is too close to the camera and she looks very surprised. I respect both your and Blof's opinions, so I'm happy whatever the result is.
Thank you, I'll send when I have time. ShahidTalk2me 19:13, 19 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well it's simple. The list of top-grossing is a list of the films that made more money. The list of hits is a list of films that were more profitable for the producers. A film like Vivah for exmple had a relatively very low budget, but it made enough money that even though it was not as much as the money KANK made, it recovered its costs big time. The Hero in 2003 for example was an extremely expensive film, and that was also the problem. It made lots of money, but did not receover its costs, that's why it flopped. If a film like, say Chameli, whose cost was low, had earned so much, it would have become a big hit. In other words, the verdict of a film is measured on its returns against its cost. So you see a film can be the highest grossing and still a flop.
What you see on the page is a mixture of both pages, because in India there is no consistency. Titanic was so expensive that it was almost clear to everyone that it would flop, because it's difficult to recover such a high cost. But the film was so popular that it grossed much more and became simultaneously the highest grossing and extremely profitable. In India it's different, and because this list is essentially a list of popular films, the decision was to combine. Meaning, using the list of top grossing but integrating some of the top hits list bits into it. The Hero, although the third-hishest grosser of 2003, was a flop, so I found it stupid to add it. Vivah on the other hand was not one of the top grossers but was one of the biggest hits, bigger than Fanaa, RDB, KANK and Don, so it's there. In 2005, the list is identical in both lists. In 2002 for example, Devdas was the top-grosser, but Raaz the biggest hit.
The date I leave depends on my dad, not on me. Probably I have one week or more. But that too, when I leave, I'll be coming once a week or once amonth and will be able to contribute. ShahidTalk2me 12:30, 20 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Bollywood Dreams I would be thankfull if you can get me images of the following personalities:

Rekha[edit]

I forgot. We don't have an image of Rekha!! We could do with a better one of Amitabh too Count Blofeld 19:28, 20 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re[edit]

Nice the idea is definitely good, but far from being fulfilled that easily. It's a lot of hard work. I always planned to do something similar. You know my argumentative nature, but with me being away and coming only roughly, it would be much harder with all those who try to stop the developement of Bollywood articles. We will first have to discuss to death all the aspects you mentioned. Then come to a concluded decision with a format of how it will all look. I think an essay will also have to be written to determine the criteria of these articles and determine what can be there and what totally cannot. That will help us fight all those who will be adding/removing any such thing that will contradict/violate all those criteria without coming to long threads of arguments. I don't know if it will be possible to delete the List of top article, as it is a very old page list known to everyone from WP:INCINE. I think I'd like to talk to you about some more related things via e-mail. Not now, some time later.

But I believe Rahul that before starting to realise this golden dream, we have other very important things to do which are at this time far more important. As of now, I think there is much more work to do - some ideas I had, which I wanted to fulfill and implement before I leave. I'll tell you about that later. ShahidTalk2me 20:20, 20 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rahul when you're here please let me know. I'll tell you what I wanted to do. ShahidTalk2me 16:21, 22 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Finally you're here!! ShahidTalk2me 17:13, 25 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Rahul please do follow the edits of Prajwalraov (talk · contribs). He seems to be a die-hard Priyanka fan, so he uploads copyvios and stuff like that. ShahidTalk2me 17:20, 25 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well I'm fine. That's final now - at the end of this week I'm leaving. Well it can be said more delcately, I'm going on my wikbreak, but will be coiming roughly from time to time. As for RNBDJ, I'm unsure. What do you think? I believe that this is correct but I'm unsure. ShahidTalk2me 17:42, 25 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh yeh definitely! Considering it is Hindi cinema's most celebrated award ceremonies, the Filmfare Awards article looks terrible. What looks worse is the pages for the categories. I have always wanted to format these pages in the way the Oscar categories are formatted - with nominees namespresented as well, in accordance with WP:MOSLOW.
Example:
  • 2008 Kareena Kapoor - Jab We Met as Geet Dhillon
    • Aishwarya Rai - Guru as...
    • Deepika Padukone - Om Shanti Om as...
    • Madhuri Dixit - Aaja Nachle as...
    • Rani Mukerji - Laaga Chunari Mein Daag as...
    • Vidya Balan - Bhool Bhulaiyaa as....
Understand? ShahidTalk2me 18:02, 25 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

K3G vs. G2[edit]

Well are you sure it has supassed K3G? Is it supported by BOI? Note, remember that a film can gross more but still be considered as big a grosser - it is called adjusted gross - and that's what actually counts. Plus, G2 got released 7 years after K3G, when the figures are different. I seriously doubt it's surpassed K3G. What has to be considered here is the adjusted nett gross, not the nett gross at the time of release. See this as an example]

I see now you're using businessofcinema.com, which I'm not sure of its reliability. You're making a mistake, because if you use boxofficeindia, you must use it consistently. Different sites report figures differently. And now, the credibility of the article is at risk. You better wait for BOI to be updated. ShahidTalk2me 18:43, 25 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'll explain in more detail what I said in the first paragraph. See again this: compare Sholay to Hum Aapke Hain Koun. Sholay grossed only 15 crore while the latter 65. But Sholay is still a bigger grosser -- because the adjusted nett gross is higher.
Now you obviously don't know what the adjusted gross of ShahidTalk2me 18:47, 25 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes! In one single year, what matters is the nett gross - but throughout history - the adjusted gross. That's what reflects the real success of the film. Titanic is the highest-grossing film ever, becuase it grossed more money. But if you adjust it for inflation (I mean, if you check the level of ticket price at cinema's, the value of the dollar), it's definitely Gone With The Wind.
In India it is particularly difficult to calculate things without adjusting for inflation. The prices often change, the value of money too. If you were to do it like this - Sholay would be considered not the biggest earner, but the biggest flop LOL!! ShahidTalk2me 19:21, 25 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well I must buddy... :( ShahidTalk2me 13:38, 28 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Obviously I will and very often... The situation in Mumbai is so sad... Have you heard? ShahidTalk2me 19:44, 28 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, friend[edit]

A Barnstar! Rahul, thank you for being part of Wikipedia, for being one of the best editors on Bollywood related articles, but above-all, thank you for being my friend! I don't really know how to express my appreciation, my affection. I had the luck to meet a simple and good guy, who very soon turned out as my great Wikipedia buddy! I thank you for that, for the support, the nice and long discussions, and anything else which has been part of you brilliant work on here. Not once did you prove your abilities as a great editor and Wikipedian. You contribution to Bollywood related articles is immense, and one of the best from a Wikipedia editor. Again, I thank you for everything, and wish you all the very best. Your friend, ShahidTalk2me 16:37, 29 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I hope it's OK :) From now and on, I will not be an active editor on Wikipedia, but I will be coming roughly from time to time. I promise to try to be as frequent as possible. Best regards, ShahidTalk2me 16:37, 29 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Lists[edit]

Hello amigo. Well if you notice on the Bollywood lists e.g Bollywood films of 1980 you'll see I have listed the top 10 films for every year. Now I intend these to be filled like Bollywood films of 1977 etc but I also have no objections if you were to develop sections on critically acclaimed films providing they are referenced. The idea is that they cover the years in Bollywood film in detail. I really think this would be the best thing to do is for you to help fill in the "Top 10" by year in the Bollywood films by year. Ideally I'd like to see each of the years with paragraphs of text and then the film list. Count Blofeld 22:01, 1 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

OK by all means develop those, 1990s needs a lot of work in particular. I actually think though far too much attnetion is paid to films 2004 -present and we should be working on older films to even up the coverage and quality Count Blofeld 10:43, 2 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rahul User:Peripitus has deleted images which I was sure were part of your agreement for people like Mallika Sherawat. I think you need to speak to him and inform him that we have permission to use them unless he was right to do so? The Bald One White cat 14:11, 12 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The best thing you can do about it is contact him and speak to him about it. The more he knows about the terms of the agremeent and that it is valid under specific circumstances the more understanfing he'll be I'm sure. The last thing we want is the agreement to be terminated because of people uploading them incorrectly. The Bald One White cat 17:42, 12 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Excellent! That will be my Grandma's 103rd birthday! The Bald One White cat 14:14, 15 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You beat me too it with the reverting!! The Bald One White cat 17:05, 17 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I know, I miss him much. I stil found it odd why he never said where he was going or what he was doing. He promised he would email but he didn't. Hey check out Bollywood films of 1970, Bollywood films of 1971 and Bollywood films of 1972. I started them all! If you could fill out the pages 2000-present I will see about stubbing all the notable films within them from the last 8 years The Bald One White cat 17:15, 17 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Excellent. Well just remember the more red links in there the more likely the Bald One is likely to pee on them with his sapphire blue coloured pee!! LOL!! Mmmmmmmwwwwwooaahahaaa! The Bald One White cat 17:30, 17 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well naturally living inside a volcano in Japan we have toilets such as this, implemented. One for me, one for Mr. Bigglesworth and one for my homies. Note the lime green slippers are a Belgian innovation, like the Germans we tend to prefer toxic looking coloured sandals on our footsies even when we pee. Just picture the Bald guy complete with facial scar and Belgian/Budapest dialect accent in lime sandals with grey Nehru suit squatting as he turns red to blue. "Somebody frickin throw me some Andrex!!". Hehe. The Bald One White cat 17:47, 17 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well perhaps on second thoughts you wouldn't like to. LOL I'm just kidding. The Bald One White cat 18:00, 17 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It isn't different IP addresses. I think you'll find they are all 59.103.100 IPs registered in Karachi -Pakistanis. I think that it is highly likely that it is a school, and this editor often uses a different computer. The most recent one beginning with 70 is registered to Houston, Texas. Yeh buddy I'm extremely happy... But.... I won't be here to see it, so I don't know what to say... ShahidTalk2me 14:43, 19 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Main Page appearance: Deepika Padukone[edit]

This is a note to let the main editors of Deepika Padukone know that the article will be appearing as today's featured article on January 5, 2014. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page. The blurb as it stands now is below:

Deepika Padukone

Deepika Padukone (born 1986) is an Indian film actress and model. She has established a successful career in Hindi (Bollywood) films, and is cited in the media as one of the most popular and attractive Indian celebrities. She made her acting debut in 2006 as the titular character of the Kannada film Aishwarya. She then played dual roles in her first Bollywood release—the 2007 blockbuster Om Shanti Om—and won a Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. Padukone received praise for portraying the lead female role in the 2009 romance Love Aaj Kal, but her performances in the 2008 romantic comedy Bachna Ae Haseeno and the 2010 comedy Housefull met with negative reviews. The 2012 box office hit Cocktail marked a significant turning point in her career, earning her critical acclaim and Best Actress nominations at several award ceremonies. In 2013, Padukone established herself as a leading actress of Hindi cinema by playing primary roles in the comedies Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Chennai Express (both of which rank among the highest-grossing Bollywood films of all time), and garnered critical acclaim for her role in the tragic romance Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela. Screen Popular Template[edit]

Just saw, you are on a template creation spree. I liked your work, But, there is no need to include popular awards in that as The main category is Screen Award for Best Actress and that's it. No need to say jury. At the end of the day its the main award. Popular award is not that important. What you think. As, then we have to merge filfare also. Or please, saparate both (screen) that would be better.—Prashant 09:36, 28 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I understand it's the 'main award', but Screen Awards introduced the 'popular' category in 2009 (which I think was pretty stupid of them to do so) to award actresses based on a voting system. As of right now, it's been given out every year and hence I decided to add it to the template as well; they also had the critics one but I didn't add that because it was only given for two years. Initially, I was thinking of creating a separate template for the popular choice but refrained from doing so since there is only about 6 winners right now. Maybe when the list gets longer and the category continues for the next several years, we will create another template—like what we did for Filmfare. -- Bollywood Dreamz talk 18:14, 28 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

But, you cant say the main award as jury award as it looks i dont know byt strange. Well, its very confusing in India. How these awards work and these categories. I was readimg your Koffee with Rahul and I must say you definitely gave Kjo a run for the money!! :) —Prashant 19:16, 28 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

LOL. Thanks! ;) Well the winners are chosen by the jury; it would look weird if I put it as 'main'! :P -- Bollywood Dreamz talk 19:21, 28 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
