Merry Christmas[edit]

Hello BOLLYWOOD DREAMZ! I just wanted to wish you and your family a merry Christmas! May this Christmas be full of great cheer and holiday spirit. Have a great day and a wonderful New Year, from The Bald One White cat 11:19, 25 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Seems very trivial. I'd hardly call that a role. You could mention it but it really isn't of essential importance, perhaps to die hard fans, but wikipedia isn't a fan site. I don't think it is worth having an edit conflict over though The Bald One White cat 19:54, 27 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Include it , but stress the little significance of her role. The Bald One White cat 19:56, 27 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes of course, but that was yesterday! Hey have a look at this. The Bald One White cat 20:12, 27 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I had a lot for Christmas so I haven't bought anything yet. I had a new Dunlop Cry Baby wah pedal, Jimi Hendrix style. i was testing it out yesterday and even my Dad who was a child of the 60s think s my pedal sounds like the year is 1968! Voodoo Chile in particular sounds good on it. Everytime you hear it its like going back in a time walk to a place surrounded by doped up hippies man. 60s baby yeahhh! Groovy baby! I will though be buying a few new pairs of River Island jeans, Bollywood style of course as the holes (the once intentionally trendy holes/distressed look) I had in some of my jeans have become a bit too big! I'm wearing a pair now and the knees are completely missing from them, 80s style. I wouldn't wear them out today though its like wind chill -15 celsius here today! I'll probably buy some DVDs too. The Bald One White cat 20:27, 27 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey friend. Today I've started around 350 Bollywood films which must be a record, even by Haphar's standards, covering virtually all of the red links for the 1970s. However they are under construction meaning that even basic details need to be added. I'd appreciate any help you can give. Eventually I'll have 1940s to present covered, doing a decade at a time. Happy New Year! The Bald One White cat 18:41, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Its just adding cast and director and correct imdb links thats all like here. Anyway there are 340 articles now to sort out at Category:Indian cinema articles under construction so if you could do a few whenever you fell like it this would help a lot! The Bald One White cat 19:18, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My dear friend![edit]

Hey dear Rahul.... Thank you for that amazing gesture that I see now on my userpage. Words could never express my gratitude for that act of yours. A very happy and merry (and belated....:() Christmas. Hopefully, we will see Bebo on that main page too very soon. Regards, ShahidTalk2me 17:50, 9 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Bollywood Films[edit]

I think you should go "highest-grossing" criteria and not the "distributor share" criteria. Better to maintain consistency. Distributor share anyway doesn't look so effective. KensplanetTC 13:45, 10 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Aamir Khan[edit]

In regards to this edit, you refer in your edit summary to a particular URL. Can you please add that to the article to help support your claim? Cheers, Kingturtle (talk) 16:56, 16 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

M. James[edit]

I've let Moodriddengirl know about it. It isn't blatant vandalism but when we have come to a consensus that the film isn't important enough in the intro then it is disruptive if he keeps on doing it. Dr. Blofeld White cat 10:53, 17 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hey...[edit]

How's life been?! ShahidTalk2me 18:18, 22 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Have not seen it yet, though I see it is a huge success. It won the Golden Globe award for best film and is now nominated for 10 Oscars - It's a huge achievement. I was stunned to see SRK at the Golden Globes ceremony. What a great progress. As to the Star Screen Awards, as always--presented as expected and disappointing. Didn't I tell you Priyanka would win this award? That despite the fact that she was not brilliant at all. She was very average. The role was great and that's another story, but people don't really pay attention to acting. I would honestly prefer Aish in the best actress category. What about you? What films are looking forward to? What are you doing overall? ShahidTalk2me 21:00, 23 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yeh it's really funny that people take it as that. People in India are particularly funny because they feel so proud of this British achievement. Dev Patel himself is considered to be British. Mukesh Bhatt said the things so precisely. Nobody would have looked even at the poster if it was an Indian film. Apart from that, an Indian film cannot get a nomination at the academy, unless it's a best foreign language category, or the distribution company is Western - like in the case of the French film La Vie En Rose. Hey Luck By Chance released today and I'm really looking forward to it. I'm a big fan of the Akhtar family - whether it's Javed Akhtar's and Honey Irani's scripts, Shabana Azmi's performances (although she is a bit unrelated), Farhan's films and now Zoya seems to be the next cinematic sensation in the direction part as well. Also, I've become a big fan of Konkona Sen Sharma, she is just one of the most amazing actors I've seen. I'll see the film when I have the first opportunity. What about you? When are you going to watch it? ShahidTalk2me 11:05, 30 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Oh yeh I see... Yes generally the "Star of the year" male/female were kind of considered the best actor/actress categories. But these new categories are more of critics ones LOL... you see only from the less commercial films to the arthouse flicks are nominated there. Anyways... Hey Bebo is nominated in two categories. I think many of the categories have to get wikipages... no? ShahidTalk2me 18:08, 30 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Oh definitely. She of course looks much more of a young matured lady and her tomboyish bubbliness is slowly and gradually diminishing - but she definitely looks more and more beautiful. She is also much more fit and I'm happy that even her film role choices also get better. Hema Malini is an example of a woman who was bubbly, smart and vivacious at her youth and now has become very gentle and elegant. I don't know why Pritz always reminds me of Hema Malini. Hemaji herself said once that if there was an actress of this generation who would be cast perfectly in her roles in Sholay and Seeta Aur Geeta, it would be Preity. Did you knnow that all the top stars in the film fraternity refer to her as Basanti (ie Hemaji's role in Sholay!)??? LOL! And do you really think Minissha Lamba resembles Preity? IMO - NO! In yours? ShahidTalk2me 17:44, 31 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Bollywood[edit]

Hi Bollywood Dreamz how are you? What are we going to do about this Bollywood main article. It has been stuck in a dead cycle for many months with constant reverting. Do you not have any time to try to help improve it? Dr. Blofeld White cat 16:55, 4 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hey now you enjoy all the uni work!! Heheh Dr. Blofeld White cat 09:02, 5 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello[edit]

ShahidTalk2me 18:09, 9 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well either way does not make any difference really, but I would prefer to leave it blanked as the table reflects the years, not the winners. Her see this funny article... LOL Preity and Bebo are friends LOL!!! ShahidTalk2me 17:03, 21 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks friend for your kind words. Dr. Blofeld White cat 09:51, 24 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Rahul but the BOI links do work. I think it was a server problem on your PC. Well as for Filmfare, there's no much sense in listing personal favourites. Hrithik and Priyanka will win in the best acting categories. Jodhaa Akbar - best film. I think there's a chance Aish wins best actress and Priyanka the critics award. Jodhaa will win best film, and so goes the list as boring as ever. It's not lke the Oscars, that you can never be sure of who the winner will be. And I liked the Oscars this year. I'm happy Kate Winslet finally won an award. She was absolutely fantastic in the reader, although I thought Meryl was just amazing in Doubt. AR Rehman is indeed a real genius. The Slumdog success may not be a direct achievement for India, but it still is, because our very own AR Rehman and Gulzar have won it, and Anil Kapoor was there on the stage at the Oscars, which I never imagined would happen.
Hey Rahul have you heard that Zinta got a Best ?Actress nomination from the Genie Awards??? WOW!!! She's nominated along with Oscar winners like Susan Sarandon. WOW.... ShahidTalk2me 11:29, 25 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm OK not been a good couple of weeks though. Have you seen Slumdog Millionaire yet? Dr. Blofeld White cat 17:20, 25 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I saw it back in January before it won a heap of of awards, I've long been a fan of Boyle's films since Trainspotting. I thought it was an excellent film and an excellent choice of subject matter but not to the extent it has been hyped. Having seen how excellent a film Gran Torino is also though, I think in many ways Slumdog seemed to just inspire the critics because of its originality and uniqueness as a film so a number of other films were quite unfortunate to be contended with it. Oh I love our old games[edit]

Oh you know I love them. But I must say your list is almost the same as mine. But here is mine:

  • Karisma for Fiza (2001) - she deserved a national award, or whatever possible, she was just sharp and brilliant in every scene, and her histrionics were amazingly believable - one of the best performances by an Indian actress.
  • Rani for Black (2006) - I was never impressed with her acting before, and often found her as someone far too average. But in Black (also Saathiya and Yuva), she's overcome her own abilities. She won herself. It's a misleading role, because if she overacts, we people don't really get if it's overacting, and interpret it as powerhouse talent. Nevertheless, I laughed, cried and smiled throughout the film thanks to her amazing portrayal.
  • Preity for KHNH (2004) - I don't think it's Preity's best performance. But I think she was totally amazing. What I like about her as an actress, is that in addition to the zest she adds into each of her characters, she is capable to pull off a character that has instant transformation in a film, and make this transformation believable. As Naina she was first insecure and angry, and then full of life (yet suffering), and played both sides convincingly. I was also quite excited in the sad parts, and found myself tearing in the last portions, especially when she walked crying in the streets of NY.
  • Both in the same league:
    • Kajol for K3G (2002)
    • Kareena for JWM (2008)
  • Aish for Devdas (2003)
  • Rani for Hum Tum (2005)
  • Kajol for Fanaa (2007)

Critical comments (hehehe LOL!) for the other performances later, I must go now. Overall, I like both Kajol's and Bebo's performances equally. ShahidTalk2me 18:41, 25 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Have you heard of Haifa Wehbe? Sizzling hot, Check out this for the green dress and this. She has to be the sexiest woman I've ever seen me thinks. HOT!!! Dr. Blofeld White cat 13:21, 26 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Undoubtedly. The fact it was directed by Boyle was a huge part of its success. If it had been directed by a relatively unknown Indian director or made in Hindi I seriously doubt it would have won much acclaim. Shallow industry, the film business. I just think it is awesome when a low budget film with low profile actors is a massive success, and then you get some Hollywood films spending well over $100 million and with little critical success either. Glad you like Haifa. Her Bipasha Basu and Koena Mitra baby in Asia's top 10 finest women LOL. Just too HOT. Shame Mitra is not a good actress, SHahid and I were laughing at that one the other day. Dr. Blofeld White cat 18:19, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Bad luck?[edit]

What's with all of Bebo's films getting delayed? Really unfortunate. --krimuk 90 02:30, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Yes it is, my friend! :( Badtameez Dil showed no signs of starting production hence I removed it, and I'm also tempted to remove Bombay Samurai too but have left it for now. I was really looking forward to Shuddhi though. Do you think it's true... does marriage really affect an actress' career? -- Bollywood Dreamz talk 02:40, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I am tempted to believe that it doesn't. It is a complete non-issue in Hollywood, and that's how it should be. But in India people have these pre-conceived notions about how a woman should be. That's probably why an actress isn't approached for too many roles after marriage or after she has reached a particular age. Look at Rani and Preity. Fabulous actresses but very little work now for no particular reason. --krimuk 90 02:47, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It's shallow to see people thinking this way - how sexist. An actor can go on to work in his 40's and 50s romancing actresses half their age, but not the case with an actress. But, I also have to point out the fact is that actresses should be willing to do different roles especially when they have reached the "particular age". A classic example of that is Kajol and Vidya Balan. Just curious... but what do you see happening with Bebo now? -- Bollywood Dreamz talk 02:57, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Oh absolutely. A brilliant example would be Dimple Kapadia who went on to appear in wonderful films through the 90s playing "her age". But yes, the men should also play their age! As for Bebo, I hope things turn out well for her. I don't think she will have much to do in Singham 2, but Bombay Samurai could be the role that gets her back on track. I also hope that they retain her in Shuddhi with some other actor, now that Hrithik has quit. --krimuk 90 03:04, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, but it is really hard to find sources for his early-90s films. Do you have access to old film-related newspaper/magazine archives? And I was thinking the same thing about merging the two sections. Will do that gradually. :) Btw, could you please comment here? Thanks. --krimuk 90 04:12, 24 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
That's what. But the user (TRPoD) is still hell bent on either removing them or messing up the table by adding citation tags for already sourced films. Very frustrating when editors don't assume good faith. --krimuk 90 02:23, 25 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
No, I agree. It did look very cluttered. :) --krimuk 90 03:38, 25 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hahahaha, that is so cute! Love it. Okay, here are my answers. Tadaa!
  1. Vidya, Kareena, Priyanka, Deepika and Katrina
  2. Ranbir, Hrithik, Shahrukh, Aamir and Salman
  3. That would be Aamir and Deepika
  4. Salman and Katrina are the most overrated
  5. Definitely Parineeti. Way better than the others.
  6. Ranveer Singh! He is the next superstar.
  7. Dhoom 3, Krrish 3, Chennai Express etc. etc.
  8. I really liked Lootera, Shuddh Desi Romance and The Lunchbox, and I really hated Chennai Express
  9. The Dirty Picture
  10. Difficult, but I'll try. 1. Omkara; 2. The Lunchbox; 3. Kal Ho Naa Ho; 4. Taare Zameen Par; 5. Lage Raho Munna Bhai
Now your turn to answer these. Then let's see who wins the hamper. --krimuk 90 04:13, 25 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Really difficult to list 5 top films, right? There were so many good ones. --krimuk 90 04:59, 25 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Fun! Okay, here's some other questions (my answer in the brackets):
  1. Name a recent actress who you think has had plastic surgery. (Anushka Sharma. Poor thing!)
  2. Who do you think was better: Priyanka in Barfi! or Vidya in Kahaani? (I liked them both, but would rate Vidya slightly higher)
  3. Who do you think was better: Ranveer in Lootera/Ram-Leela or Farhan in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag? (Ranveer)
  4. Name the one best performance of the following actors: Amitabh, Aamir, Shahrukh, Ranbir, Hrithik, Ajay (Amitabh: Black; Aamir: Rang De Basanti; Shahrukh: Chak De India; Ranbir: Barfi!; Hrithik: Guzaarish; Ajay: Omkara)
  5. Name the one best performance of the following actresses: Madhuri, Sridevi, Rani, Preity, Kareena, Priyanka (Madhuri: Devdas; Sridevi: English Vinglish; Rani: Black; Preity: Heaven on Earth; Kareena: Omkara; Priyanka: Barfi!)
  6. If you had to remake the following films today, who would you cast: 1. Silsila; 2. Mother India; 3. Lamhe; 4. Arth; 5. Hum Aapke Hai Kaun (Silsila: Ranbir, Farhan, Parineeti and Shraddha; Mother India: Vidya Balan; Lamhe: Shahrukh and Priyanka; Arth: Hrithik, Kareena, Rani; HAHK: Shahid and Priyanka)
  7. Rate in order of sex-appeal: Priyanka, Katrina, Deepika, Sonam, Anushka. (Deepika, Priyanka, Anushka, Katrina, Sonam)
  8. Which actor over 45 do you think should stop romancing young heroines? (All of them. :P)
  9. Name a recent film that made you cry. (The Lunchbox. I couldn't stop crying)
  10. Who do you think is the most underrated actor/actress? (I agree, Akshaye Khanna and Urmila; more recently Kangna) --krimuk 90 05:17, 25 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Wow, after reading this, I am excited to watch The Lunchbox. And how about The Namesake, is that one good too? I think Irrfan Khan is a good actor. BollyJeff | talk 16:24, 25 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I have only seen him in Slumdog Millionaire, Billu, and Life of Pi. I guess he was in Salaam Bombay, but I don't remember him in it. BollyJeff | talk 03:14, 26 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, The Namesake was excellent. Both Tabu and Irrfan are superb actors. You should also read Jhumpa Lahiri's book that it was based on. I am currently reading her new book The Lowland. --krimuk 90 03:19, 26 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
You guys seem to have fun here.--Dwaipayan (talk) 21:02, 25 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hahah, yes Dwai. You should answer these questions too. :) --krimuk 90 03:19, 26 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
LOL Rahul. Rani was so unrecognisable as a sardar in Hadippa! that I considered Veera to be a cameo. :P -- KRIMUK90  05:09, 27 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The Special Barnstar
An overdue barnstar for being an awesome Wikipedian! KRIMUK90  07:34, 1 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hey buddy, did you watch Shaadi Ke Side Effects, Queen or Gulaab Gang? -- KRIMUK90  06:18, 10 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I have seen Gulaab Gang; it's a typical masala film but it was great to see Madhuri and Juhi on screen after so long. Yup, heard great things about Queen, and look forward to watching that, maybe this weekend. Btw, Rani will be on the main page on her birthday. Yay!! -- KRIMUK90  01:26, 11 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. :) That's difficult, but I would go with Juhi only because her character is more layered and juicy. Madhuri's character is a bit ho-hum in that respect, but she can definitely give Salman Khan a run for his money in the action sequences. -- KRIMUK90  01:40, 11 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
You think so? I think she looks rather hot in that pic. -- KRIMUK90  02:11, 13 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
In hindsight, I do agree with you. Changed the pic. :) Btw, I saw Queen and am absolutely in love with the movie. -- KRIMUK90  10:24, 18 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I am terrible at removing watermarks, really. I try but fail each time! Also, I am really surprised that Kareena turned down Queen. What was she thinking? She would have been fab. She is probably the only actress who has turned down so many awesome films: Kal Ho Naa Ho, Black, Page 3, Ram-Leela and more recently, Zoya's next. -- KRIMUK90  02:21, 20 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
LOL, she definitely was smoking something if she thought Gori Tere Pyaar Mein was better than Ram-Leela & Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon was better than Kal Ho Naa Ho. Well, atleast she established the careers of Zinta and Padukone! -- KRIMUK90  01:26, 21 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Interesting! Do we have any ref to show that he won it 15 years later? -- KRIMUK90  01:41, 26 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
After Kangana, I will focus on expanding Aamir Khan again. Do you want to work together on that one? -- KRIMUK90  10:50, 1 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Great! :) I am almost done working on Aamir Khan filmography and will be nominating it for FL soon. Then I will finish Ranaut's article before starting Khan's bio again. Of course you can start expanding it in the meantime. I found an e-book on Khan called I'll Do It My Way; I can e-mail it to you if you want. :) About the TFA, there is no minimum time limit as such. Padukone and Julianne Moore's article featured within a couple of months of being promoted. -- KRIMUK90  01:35, 5 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Kareena Kapoor birthdate source[edit]

Hi there, your edit here at Kareena Kapoor is a bit ridiculous, because you reinstatated a birthdate with the inaccurate explanation Her DOB is clearly sourced and is included in the article. As of this version, neither the birthdate in the infobox, nor in the lead, nor in the Early life and background section were "clearly sourced". I eventually found this reference the lead following content that describes Kapoor as being popular and highly-paid, which is hardly the place where anybody would expect a birthdate reference to be. This edit of mine better demonstrates what "clearly sourced" looks like. If you plan to edit BLPs, please be sure that all contestable content is impeccably sourced, particularly where WP:BLPPRIVACY is concerned. And per WP:BURDEN, when content is removed for being improperly sourced, or where there are questions about sources, the burden is yours to provide the source if you reinstate the content. As this went, you reverted and left it up to me to find it, which is a waste of my time if you knew where it was. Thanks. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 05:33, 10 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I have returned the birthdate citations to the infobox and lead at Kareena Kapoor to make it easier for other editors to spot vandalism. Though you pointed at WP:LEADCITE as the rationale for removing the references, the guideline provides for the inclusion of redundant links, specifically: Any statements about living persons that are challenged or likely to be challenged must have an inline citation every time they are mentioned, including within the lead. Since the DOB has been contested, even if in bad faith, and DOB is protected by WP:BLPPRIVACY, it makes sense to maintain the references. And, from my years of experience, it makes it easier for regular editors to spot disruption when there is a source right next to the data. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 21:23, 16 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Hi there, re: this edit, since this issue has come up a few times, it might be wise for you to open a discussion on the talk page. This way, if editors keep making changes without discussing, you can invite them to the discussion on the article's talk page. While this is not a get-out-of-Edit-War-free card, it will help to protect you. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 16:26, 12 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Reference "overload"[edit]

Hi there, I disagree with your removal of the reference shortcuts here, which you explained with this edit summary: "Cleaned up. No needed to overload article with ref. DOB ref provided in "Early life and background"." The content has been vandalised numerous times and having references makes it easier for other editors to vet the information and spot disruption, which I think falls into the allowances of MOS:LEAD.
