The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy

[edit]

A special episode called "The Grim Adventures of the Kids Next Door" air on November 11, 2007! The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy ended on November 11, 2007! 201.92.174.222 (talk) 20:17, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I know that but like I said, it was non-canon and just like Underfist it doesn't count as part of the series. treelo radda 20:29, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Irish socks?

[edit]

So, do we have any socks who have a bent towards Ireland? Not feeling any connection, so it may be really a new user, but he/she/they have already a tendency to edit war. Yngvarr (t) (c) 20:05, 12 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Noticed this one when they first appeared on AN, didn't ring any bells then and still doesn't. You get newbs who edit war all the time, just most assume themselves to be right and the rest are puppets. treelo radda 22:14, 12 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Turning tail

[edit]

Because I didn't realize the first account had been spamblocked. I just assumed the second account was just a rename and not an actual sock, and even if it was an SPA, it wasn't explicitly sockpuppetry. A bit of an oversight on my part. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshellsOtter chirpsHELP) 17:22, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you can get an admin to undelete the talk page of the first article, you'll see the verbiage between that and the current version is, if not identical, close enough in personality that it makes no difference. Yngvarr (t) (c) 18:22, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Much easier to ask an admin to email it to you instead of getting it undeleted. Sadly, you were wrong in figuring that the account doesn't need a block, might not be a direct sock but I'd say a meatpuppet if otherwise and is still an SPA. Actually, your explaination doesn't make as much sense as you figure and if anything it seems that if an account is spamblocked and another pops up doing similar things to the blocked account then it follows that the other account should have a SSP case open and a checkuser case also if it's uncertain. The oversight to me is removing it when it was a legitimate sockpuppet case. treelo radda 19:07, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Meh. I still considered it more of a rename than a sock. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshellsOtter chirpsHELP) 19:10, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Tsk, I'm surprised at you for that. An indef blocked account, having not made any unblock requests, reappears but is not a sock? I'm calling it meatpuppets myself, since this being a group project, and the original account referred to himself in the plural. Well, anyways. This has nothing to do with jelly. Yngvarr (t) (c) 19:16, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Jelly? Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshellsOtter chirpsHELP) 19:42, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re [1], I'm replying here rather than there. Not for obscurity sake, but rather from just discomfort about talking about him right under his nose...

Anyways, I think I'd like to give him one more shot, or just a little more room. I want to reply to his message on my talk page, and try just one more time to explain the whyfor of it all. The IP edit is fairly conclusive, and he's been warned, both templated and personally, not to behave in that manner. So I'm not going to ANI at the moment, but one more, either by a registered account or IP address, and I will. Yngvarr (t) (c) 21:27, 16 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fine, I'll bring the popcorn when the block stick is swung. treelo radda 21:55, 16 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Just a little bit of butter, but definitely salty. Yngvarr (t) (c) 22:34, 16 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

So, there you have it, Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/Totemruby. Check the chronology, sometimes these diffs get me wonky, especially when I have 12 different windows and tabs open. Yngvarr (t) (c) 20:30, 17 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A sockpuppetry case? I don't see why we should bother, it's got a huge backlog and admins are fairly reluctant to even step into handling this stuff. I remember Totemruby getting a mention at either AN or ANI, did that actually happen as I couldn't find it in a search, if it did then bring it back up and get something done a little more swiftly. treelo radda 20:41, 17 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sheesh, I didn't notice the backlog when I filed. There's 75 cases listed. I posted a fairly innocuous question to ANI, but it's unlikely to be looked upon kindly. Yngvarr (t) (c) 21:27, 17 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
As far as I'm concerned it'll take upto a month for someone to make a cursory look so why bother wasting time? If it gets a result then good but you shouldn't be moaned at for trying to get something done because a shoddy sockpuppet reporting procedure has become so ineffective as to be useless. treelo radda 21:38, 17 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
One admin, and another frustrated user, has chimed in. I've made a side-comment that I'll ANI the case if it gets out of hand. For now, it's more of a mild irritation, but even worse because Ruby blatantly denies the socking, even tho the verbiage is identical. Most of those cases, not just mine, appear to be something to take care of in a timely manner. Almost makes me want to up against RFA. Almost. Yngvarr (t) (c) 21:41, 17 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Whoa. User talk:JzG is the man. I don't think I've ever dealt with him personally, but I know he's a good admin, I've seen him participate on ANI in the past, and he don't take shit. Yngvarr (t) (c) 21:49, 17 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No he don't but nobody should have to be forced into announcing as much on ANI just to get a problem fixed in a timeframe which isn't a joke. WP:SSP2 won't solve this issue but it'll make it easier to do CU on guys like Totemruby. treelo radda 22:04, 17 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Me again

[edit]

Just wondering what you're planning to do with this subpage you created ages ago. Is your intent to keep it up until I finally give in and watch an episode of Zim? Because honestly, I've seriously considered doing that now that I've joined Toonzone and realized I'm the only 20something who hasn't seen a full ep. As repulsed as I am with that show, I'm still dying of curiosity. Yet repulsed. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshellsOtter chirpsHELP) 23:17, 1 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, that's going nowhere until I and Gorgy get you upto speed with the televisual treats any sane and rationally with it 20-something or older has actually absorbed and appreciated. With that, I'm telling you to watch an episode in full, preferably both 15 min. eps to make a whole and then you can go play outside with the other kids. I say that but then that's just the lull before I go repurpose it for some other show you simply have to watch to save yourself from being a social outcast with otters instead of cats so no, your reign of deletionst crazytalk stops where User/User talk:Treelo begins. Go forth and watch yourself some Zim you bumpkin, might end up liking it as heck knows I wasn't that open to it on the first try either. treelo radda 00:04, 2 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
And I can recommend one episode (which is my personal favorite) to start with, and the lemur can suggest another. And we'll expect a full report afterward. Yngvarr (t) (c) 00:05, 2 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yuppers, that seems like a good way to go. Up for it, my purple cat/rabbit kid friend? treelo radda 00:07, 2 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Meh. Wouldn't hurt to at least gimme a couple YouTube or Veoh links. As for getting a spine I'll have to do that myself. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshellsOtter chirpsHELP) 01:07, 2 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Better late than never, maybe? My second-favorite is Attack of the Saucer Morons. Watch that, and whatever Treelo might suggest, and let us know what you think. If you can handle it, then I'll tell you what my favoritist episode is. By the way, ever read any Lovecraft? Yngvarr (t) (c) 10:09, 2 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'd rather take the free version. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshellsOtter chirpsHELP) 00:07, 4 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

(undent) Well. I doubt you find any on the innertubes. I just looked, and most of what I found are fan remixes and the like. And wouldn't you know it, but the official season one box set was discontinued (but apparently season two, and the "leftovers" aren't) [2]. There's an interesting price there, and something about Amazon video on demand. Yngvarr (t) (c) 00:52, 4 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That's how it is, Kid Bulletpoint. We do expect a writeup once you have and I think we may need to up you to two episodes as nobody ever gets a full impression of a show from one episode. Something stub to start class would be nice, C class even better. treelo radda 03:26, 6 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Srsly. Do you have an instant message program or email or somesuch so I don't have to keep spamming your talkpage? Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshellsOtter chirpsHELP) 04:12, 6 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
But how would Yng be involved then? Keep spamming as it's nicely centralised then and best of all I don't care. treelo radda 11:39, 6 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I don't go for those newfangled geegaws like instant mashed potatoes on the innerwebs. Anyways, between all the hemming and hawing, you should have been able to watch the entire production history by now. I'm thinking each time you post a delay, we'll need to increase your quota by another episode. Yngvarr (t) (c) 15:43, 6 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

We'll get to other cultural references later. Speaking of cultural references, Chowder (one with the otters) = TPHB. If you read Dilbert enough you'll get it and yes, it is entirely profound. treelo radda 04:25, 9 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ten Pound Hammer (Bobby) condenses down nicely into TPHB and from the lead of Pointy Haired Boss...

The Pointy-Haired Boss (often abbreviated to just PHB) is Dilbert's boss in the Dilbert comic strip. He is notable for his gross incompetence and unawareness of his surroundings, yet somehow retains power in the workplace.

Exchange "his surroundings" for "great popular cultural works" and "gross incompetence" for "deletionist tyranny" and we're kinda close. Kinda. It's now five, you ask a lot of questions and it's running down the clock. treelo radda 04:38, 9 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Good idea, probably has a long weekend, he can make a "lost weekend" thing out of it. What ISP do you have, 4.5 kilo hammer? Just curious, but if it was once working, don't see why it would have stopped just now. Yngvarr (t) (c) 20:31, 24 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Searching works, but when I play the vid it doesn't work (I tried a couple non-Zim eps and they work). The last two times I tried the torrents I gave up because they were taking too long, but I'm not giving up this time. Most likely Turbo Nick took down their Zim eps just to tell me "you snooze, you lose". (Update: Torrents worked this time. Yay.) Well, we've got a winning streak of one so why not tempt fate anyway? treelo radda 15:54, 26 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Actually I'll have to pose a series of questions first, to see if we can go there: What kind of mobile device(s), if any, do you have? Phone, PDA, ereader, etc? Sidenote, I see he's taken an interest in The Secret of NIMH. Ever see Watership Down? Yngvarr (t) (c) 16:17, 26 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I have no idea where this one is going even with these questions. Guessing from your use of terms, I'm figuring you're asking me if I have any mobile devices or if I watched Watership Down but even if not I'll answer anyway. I only have my iPod touch which should be plenty enough and I dislike Watership Down greatly. I implore upon you not to make him see it if he hasn't already. treelo radda 16:36, 26 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, one cannot always agree upon tastes, and some disagreement is healthy. Chowder, for instance, sincerely likes (new) country music. I'd like to see what his reply regarding mobile devices is/are before I unveil My Little Plan. Yngvarr (t) (c) 17:24, 26 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

(merp) Oh this shall be fun. treelo radda 17:46, 26 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I liked NIMH since 5th grade, really, got the DVD for Christmas and watched for the second time. As for stories with animals in, I also read the Redwall books but last I checked, the Redwall pages were such a fancruft dump that I couldn't even bear to look at them again. As for mobile devices, I have a cell phone and an iPod shuffle, but I'd like a bigger iPod at the least. It'll still mostly have country music of course. P.S. Treelo, you're not leaving after all huh? Yay. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshellsOtter chirpsHELP) 19:46, 26 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
TBH, it's nothing exciting. I wanted to find out what mobile devices you had because your next assignment will be to read some classic literature. They're free (copyrights expired or non-renewed), so you can download the full-text, but it's easier to read on a mobile device. You can read it on a computer, but IMO, you get uncomfortable. Intro to Ed, Edd n Eddy

[edit]

If you can think of anything more to add, be my guest. I can't think of a better intro to the page, and I've been watching it for almost 10 years.

I just love the way some editors specialize in adding tags, but don't have anything of value to offer. I call them rogue editors. All they do is look for places to add tags, but they never contribute anything of value. Not that I'm calling you that, because I know better, but maybe you are enabling them?

So, step up to the plate and improve the intro, or take your tag off. If you can't make the article better, don't try to tear down what others have already done. -- Elaich talk 04:28, 28 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

First, WP:OWN, please stop falling foul of it and watch the tone, I'm not your enemy remember. OK, let's break it down as 9 out of 10 of your contribs are reverting something on a EEnE article and you've got a tunnel vision view of things. Now, you got the premise section right below it, that right there is your intro. Cut it down to one simple paragraph and that's it. An example way of laying it out:

Ed, Edd n Eddy is an original animated cartoon series on Cartoon Network, created by Danny Antonucci and produced by Canadian based a.k.a. Cartoon. The series revolves around three preadolescent boys, collectively known as "the Eds," the three hang around in a suburban cul-de-sac. Led by Eddy, the Eds scheme to make money off their peers, but their plans usually fail, leaving them in various predicaments.

Works, doesn't it? If it's not great, write your own but please write something besides "I don't like it". Now, don't take this too hard but I have something to impart about you, I don't know if you're seeing what I'm seeing but I do want you to accept this as my observations and that you might want to take on board what I'm saying.
In the last two years or at least since DLC split, you haven't been building the articles like you used to. If people don't agree with how things are now, you go into the sort of "What did you say about my baby?" attitude you get like with this thread. You tell me that you cannot figure it out so I'd better go remove the tag, fix the issue myself or be a rogue editor enabler and get accused of trying to destroy it which is the opposite of what the tag is telling people to do.
This is what I mean by "tunnel vision", you're so tightly wound up in the removal of crap that you've lost sight of just keeping the article alive and informative to someone who hasn't been watching it for 10 years, your own attempts at keeping the article in a static state because it's your work, not because it's good work are becoming less and less conducive to a working article set and I don't like it. I think you need to back away from the articles and work on other articles, others will keep them clean and maybe even improve on them but you got to allow them to instead of stopping everything dead. I hate working on these articles because of the crud cleanup but I also hate having to dodge your verbal bullets which just suck the fun and the freedom from even editing them. I just don't believe that for all your work that you're a net positive for the articles anymore, you've made some great articles and maintained them well but now you're killing them by keeping them in stasis instead of just allowing them to stand and grow on their own. Sure, you've never said "this is my article" but each time you mention things about it, especially when racking up the drama like above you do imply it.
As a friend and someone who wants to see these articles improve and not just stay frozen in their "correct" versions, step away from them. treelo radda 13:05, 28 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dragging this out even further...

[edit]

Okay, first of all, you've decided not to leave just yet. Good for you. Seriously though, I just want to say that I watched a couple more episodes, and "The Nightmare Begins" was not just a fluke. It might take a couple more episodes to truly get me, but I really am considering getting the DVDs just so I don't have to deal with some torrent gobbling up my precious hard drive space. I might even gasp try to improve the Invader Zim article! See what you've done to me? Oh wait, I was the one that downloaded the eps and pressed play. See what I've done to me?... Okay, sorry. I seriously think that Zim has made me much less fearful of trying new things (who says you don't learn valuable life lessons from cartoons?). With that in mind, is there anything else you recommend cartoonwise? Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshellsOtter chirpsHELP) 23:54, 27 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'm scared of the Zimverse here on Wikipedia. But anyways, have you ever watched Foamy the Squirrel? It's a web cartoon, but still. If you haven't, start here for the holiday spirit.

Which question again? Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshellsOtter chirpsHELP) 00:08, 28 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Gorgy, quit it with the bullets, bad enough when Chowder does it. The question was about the new reading materials you should consider reading, that sort of talk has no place here though so off with you two elsewhere. I did read that you were happy I didn't leave earlier on though a certain candleholder has yet to do so also but I got to ask, do you really want to take on some 12 articles with a law unto themselves? Godspeed, just don't go around nominating stuff for XfD, they'll knock you into submission with flawed logic and cruft-based excuses. But if you gotta do one thing, move the template as the name makes little sense. treelo radda 00:22, 28 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Didn't answer that question you really wanted answering before, I don't have anything but I'll confer it to Gorgy if he's OK with leaving the literature until later. treelo radda 00:27, 28 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I'm sure it'll be a definite editor's barnie in it for you if you manage to somehow rope it down to a small 6 articles or so effectively and without instigating semi-prots, AfDs or edit warring. treelo radda 01:28, 28 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
What the hey. Not tonight though. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshellsOtter chirpsHELP) 03:59, 28 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Me? Huh? Of course I'm glad you're not leaving. If you did leave, I would have done something foolish like submit myself to RfA out of boredom. Chowder's got his own little entourage with regards to the country music thingy; he doesn't pay attention to me. I'd be all alone. Yngvarr (t) (c) 00:30, 28 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, Treelo's the one who started this whole thing. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshellsOtter chirpsHELP) 01:19, 28 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh yeah, blame me why not! treelo radda 01:28, 28 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I know he has his XfD/fast food outlet/strip mall/music pavilion to keep himself busy with but I'm not the gooey glue that holds the cogs of this ragtag group together, at least not so much to convince yourself to go down in a firey maelstrom of an RfA which lasts all of 5 hours due to a mercy WP:NOTNOW closure. treelo radda 00:39, 28 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Are you very alive and full of goo? Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshellsOtter chirpsHELP) 01:19, 28 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Crap, he's quoting lines at me. treelo radda 01:28, 28 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Is that bad? Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshellsOtter chirpsHELP) 03:59, 28 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No, that's just trying to twist your arm, but you might consider that there are at least two people who would rather you didn't go, and I think all of us can think of a generic someone who we'd rather see go (no, no particular names come in mind). Yngvarr (t) (c) 00:46, 28 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I can think of a few and with names. Anyway, read the Mark Twain quote, I am not going... yet, I want to be dishonourably stripped of my admin and checkuser bits for abusing my powers first. treelo radda 00:53, 28 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
One more thing, I have a bunch of Bear in the Big Blue House icons you two may be interested in. I only currently have Tutter, Treelo and Ojo but no Pip & Pop or Bear just yet. If you're interested, please send an email in the regular fashion and I'll send you them and yes, they work for both Windows and OSX. I did forget to say but yeah, I did make them. treelo radda 01:01, 28 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, you actually should already have my e-mail addy, unless you deleted it. I'm about to call it quits for the evening, so if I don't see it, I'll ping you. Yngvarr (t) (c) 01:06, 28 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

(merp) You'd better ping me I think, not sure where your email address has rattled off to. treelo radda 01:28, 28 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ping. Can't sleep and can't concentrate on reading, so I figured I'd wander around some more. Yngvarr (t) (c) 02:19, 28 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I bought a DVD now. Are you happy yet, Shnitzel? :-P Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshellsOtter chirpsHELP) 19:26, 30 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Radda, radda radda radda. treelo radda 19:30, 30 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Translation? I don't speak Radda, you know. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshellsOtter chirpsHELP) 20:02, 30 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No? Most people do. treelo radda 20:14, 30 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
