Hello, Babahu

Welcome to Wikipedia. I wanted to discuss a couple of your edits in Sony Vegas Pro article, as well as their appropriateness.

First, in this edit (507450036), you have added "(needs specifics)" which is a comment and is not part of the article's body. In the future, please consider using {{which}} instead. (I have fixed, so you can look at the article now to see the result.)

Second, in this edit (507453070), you have apparently thought that I had deleted the list of similar programs. But I hadn't. Look at the bottom of the article to see the complete list. All of them are of the same type as Sony Vegas Pro.

Third, you have restored the list of films which I had deleted before. There are two problems with these lists:

  1. They do not have a source, i.e. there is no shred of evidence in the article that these films are made Sony Vegas Pro. In Wikipedia, things that do not have source may be deleted. It is prohibited to return them without a source.
  2. Wikipedia is not a directory. Lists and repositories of loosely associated topics are not allowed in Wikipedia, especially if they lend weight to advertisement. In this case, the films have no relation whatsoever with Sony Vegas Pro except that a part of them may have been edited in it.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Best regards,

Hello,
Thanks for the reply. I agree with at least half of what you said. Wikipedia is far from perfect; it is a work in progress and deleting just every piece of unreferenced material is unwise. (Sometimes, one must try to find source for them or hope someone else do.) However, in this case source is not the only problem. Such poorly defined lists are not allowed in Wikipedia in the first place, per Wikipedia is not a directory. There is always problem enforcing this policy because some of the things that are not allowed in Wikipedia are very fun to read or see.
If you still have problems with deleting the list, I can call in an RFC to settle this dispute. Maybe that helps fix the problem. So, please let me know.
Best regards,

Editing Talk Pages[edit]

[How to interact / contact you] I'm following the Wiki's link on contacting you. If this is not the right way, please inform me.

You have undone my edit on Sodium Nitrite, asking for refs and being less specific. There are no refs for any of the other items in this paragraph. The info came from a DuPont webinar which I don't know how to ref.

Also it is common to give examples to reify the concept. I don't understand how my example is out of place. I was specific since I do not know for sure other products but I do know for sure that the DuPont products contains it.

The above was on my user page User:JohnSRoberts99. One does not write on other's user pages, you write on their talk pages. The problem with the information you gave was it did not have a reference and appeared to be spam (WP:Spam). You were quoting something using only one product, which was not really clear which one as all we had was a product name. One would have to chase down that specific product to find out what you were discussing. Can this be done to a group of products and not just one? If so, that would be a good place to start. If they have a patent and are the only producer, the product more than likely has a common chemical name. A reference, see WP:VERIFY, means that the information can be verified. Finally, you sign your posts to other's talk pages by inserting four tildes at the end of the statement or question.JSR (talk) 09:34, 27 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
