Varig Flight 254

[edit]

Hi, could you take a look at the Varig Flight 254 article? Many of the references are in Portuguese. My gut feeling is that the references verify the claims but I don't speak Portuguese. Mjroots (talk) 09:21, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Have a look at the talk page for the article too. There is some text that was removed as being WP:OR but it may be included in one of the references, which is why I pasted it to the talk page. Hopefully the tags will be able to be removed from the article once everything has been checked out. Mjroots (talk) 14:51, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

TUSC token dc5cca35b7b4c4f4ed0a76adb823603e

[edit]

I am now proud owner of a TUSC account!

In order to get a password reminder sent by e-mail, you need to have set your account's e-mail address. The account merging tool can help you find all the wikis where you have the same user name and password. You might want to try that, just in case the password is the same one you use elsewhere.

Otherwise, since you opened that account long ago and made no edits with it, I can rename it to something like "Babbage (2)". Then you'll automatically get the account when running Special:MergeAccount. Let me know if you need my help on this.

Possible DC Meetup

[edit]

Some editors are planning a possible DC Wiki-meetup in mid to late February. If interested, please join the discussion at Wikipedia talk:Meetup/DC 5#Another date? (If you’re no longer interested in getting these notices, please remove your name from Wikipedia:Meetup/DC 5#Nope, but let me know about future events.) Thanks. — Satori Son 16:36, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there!

Got your message about the deletion (obviously), and now I'm second-guessing myself. Per WP:NOTE I believe she is notable enough; previously, I guess I deleted it either too hastily or with the misconception that her achievements hadn't been cataloged well enough. I've restored it. Apologies! Master of Puppets Call me MoP! :D 05:46, 10 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

February 2009

[edit]

Please remember to mark your edits as minor if (and only if) they genuinely are minor edits (see Help:Minor edit). Marking a major change as a minor one is considered poor etiquette. The rule of thumb is that only an edit that consists solely of spelling corrections, formatting changes, or rearranging of text without modifying content should be flagged as a 'minor edit.' Thank you. Gimme danger (talk) 04:49, 21 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. If you're talking about the changes I made to Sogyal Rinpoche, yes, that was definitely an error in labeling given the number of changes. But I was not aware of that rule of thumb. In general, I didn't realize I was breaching etiquette by marking "wikiication" edits which consist solely of adding links to existing text. I had figured those should be marked as minor since the text itself isn't changed. I'll follow the rule in the future, thanks for your help! babbage (talk) 05:52, 21 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Argh, I just did it again :) babbage (talk) 05:52, 21 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I need some help translating this into English

[edit]

I saw that you are a translator on the French Translation page... I need some help translating the following letter into English. It was written by General Pulaski, while traveling to find food for the starving soldiers at Valley Forge. I know it's an inconvenience to ask you to do this, but I would very much appreciate it. If you don't have time though, I understand. Thanks.

La Partie aupre Germenton que V. Translation no longer necessary... sorry for any inconvenience

[edit]

I'm just writing to tell you that I no longer need the translation. I'm sorry for any inconvenience. As a precaution, I asked several people listed on the French translation page to help me with the letter. Today I checked, and several people have sent me the translations or are in the process of translating them. I've been trying for several weeks to find a translator (first on myspace, which was hardly any help at all, then on wikipedia, which I must say has been more helpful). I hope in the future you would still be willing to help with translations. There are several letters from Lafayette that I cannot understand. But it may be some time before I need them.

Thanks again.

ps I was watching C-SPAN today, and was quite surprised to learn that after all these years, Pulaski may be made an honorary citizen.

Acorn Park

[edit]

Hi! I'm so glad you are a fan of my article Acorn Park! When I made it I thought it would be a silly orphaned article that would get deleted because who likes gazebos shaped like acorns? Hooray! – DroEsperanto(talk|contribs) 02:16, 3 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Babbage,
please send your real-name, your wikiname, your Freenode-nick (if you have one), your prefered login-name and the public part of your ssh-key to . We plan to create your account soon then. --DaB. 23:50, 11 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

For every category you create, you should specify parent categories to which it belongs. You can do this by listing the parents near the bottom of the page, each enclosed in double brackets like so:

[[Category:Inventors by nationality]]
[[Category:Venezuelan people by occupation]]

I am a human being, not a bot, so you can contact me if you have questions about this. Best regards, --Stepheng3 (talk) 17:24, 29 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Babbage -- query on your edit of Wiki on Australian linguist Athanasius Treweek

[edit]

Hi Babbage,

You request that messages be left - I hope this method is how I am supposed to do that and not a break in protocol.

I was just reading a Wiki article on Australian linguist Athanasius Treweek. Your edit of the article to paste in a section has left problems. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Athanasius_Treweek&diff=204980785&oldid=168966389

"A Japanese success there would have been a major blow for the Allies..."

The sentence appears to be a cut and paste - however in its new context makes no sense as the preceding sentence doesn't give a contextual location for where the Japanese success might have happened. The issue is compounded with later reference in your paste to a specific battle without context as to which battle is being referred to.

Cheers,

'Wisened'
