Thanks for your kind words about the article. I borrowed some material from the article on the Bach Museum in Eisenach. -Thoughtfortheday (talk) 10:12, 28 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest and promotional editing

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Bachhaus.eisenach. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the article Bach House (Eisenach), you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Melcous (talk) 12:08, 7 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy or request a change of username.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. Thank you.

Allowing username change to requested username. Please select an option from Wikipedia:Changing username and file a request as soon as possible to avoid re-blocking. Huon (talk) 18:10, 7 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Since you were only blocked for the username, I have accepted the unblock request. You should, however, also take the time to read the disclosure requirements explained at WP:COIPAYDISCLOSE and make sure you comply with them. Those requirements are part of the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use, by the way, and hold on the German Wikipedia just as well as on the English one. Huon (talk) 18:10, 7 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • In my view komkon_2 is a bad username, as there is also a company called Komkon. A better username would be something like Joerg-Bachhaus (last message at Melcous' TP here ended with "Joerg"). Jytdog (talk) 00:05, 8 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, thanks, I did not know that. I have now changed my username. Joerg bachhaus (talk) 05:29, 8 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
See my comments at Wikipedia:Changing username/Usurpations#Bachhaus.eisenach → Komkon_2: please don't change your username yourself (you can't: all you did was taking a second, in fact third, account which impedes a "change" of your old username to such a new one): a name change should be requested (while logged in with the Bachhaus.eisenach account) at Wikipedia:Changing username/Simple or Special:GlobalRenameRequest. It is true that you can stop editing with one account and start editing with another new one, but this is, in the context, something you really shouldn't do because of your intention to continue editing on the Bachhaus Eisenach topic (see WP:SOCK, this would be an "inappropriate use of an alternative account", while "contributing to the same page or discussion with multiple accounts", and would only get you blocked again). --Francis Schonken (talk) 09:45, 8 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! So I'll do the GlobalRenameRequest and until that is granted stay with the old blocked&unblocked username. Sorry for the mess, I thought I was doing what was required. I won't contribute to the topic Bachhaus Eisenach until all this has been sorted out. Bachhaus.eisenach (talk) 13:07, 8 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, I'm looking forward to your further collaboration to Wikipedia, and apologise if it all looked a bit confusing. --Francis Schonken (talk) 13:13, 8 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I just wish to echo Francis in looking forward to your future contributions.--Thoughtfortheday (talk) 15:17, 8 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Next steps

[edit]

Well, the name change seems to have been successful. I added templates indicating the connections to User:Bachhaus.eisenach, User:Joerg bachhaus and User:Jörg Hansen Bachhaus – I hope that is OK thus far.

Next step would be to add this code to the User:Jörg Hansen Bachhaus page:

{{UserboxCOI |1=Bach House (Eisenach) }}

... which should result in showing up like this:

This user has publicly declared that they have a conflict of interest regarding the Wikipedia article Bach House (Eisenach).

I'd add it myself to that page, but I'm not really in a position to do that: Jörg, could you add that code to your own new user page? That would be best, so there is no doubt that it is you who made the declaration. I'm a bit disappointed by the ugliness of the {{UserboxCOI}} template, but that's afaik the only one suitable (& mandatory!) for the purpose.

Jörg, if the Neue Bachgesellschaft is your employer, and/or if you are a member of that organisation, then it may be best to insert this code on your user page instead:

{{UserboxCOI |1=Bach House (Eisenach) |2=Neue Bachgesellschaft }}

resulting in:

This user has publicly declared that they have a conflict of interest regarding these Wikipedia articles:
