I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Though we all make goofy mistakes, here is what Wikipedia is not. If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to see the help pages or add a question to the village pump. The Community Portal can also be very useful.

Happy editing!

P.S. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you need help with anything or simply wish to say hello. :)

Image upload[edit]

A suitable template you could use would be {{CopyrightedFreeUseProvidedThat|type the conditions you mentioned here}}. Type that into the summary textbox on the upload page, along with any other information you'd like to mention. The full list of image copyright tags can be found at WP:ICT, and I'll be glad to help if you need any. :) Regards, Sango123 (talk) 22:31, 18 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Editing and images[edit]

Sorry its taken me so long to get back to you Matt. As for your question, there is no single ideal procedure for adding your images to articles. First thing though, you have to try to be as objective as possible and ask yourself whether there really is space and/or a need for your image in the article. If you're convinced of its relevence and quality, it isn't a problem to simply slot it into the article or replace a similar but inferior image. Sometimes you might find it is a good idea to leave a friendly note on the talk page to let the contributors know the reason for the replacement if it has the potential to be controversial. As long as you are polite and objective, nobody is going to bite! Hope that helps. Again, sorry I took so long to reply. Diliff | (Talk) (Contribs) 16:57, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've added some info to the image description page of Wikipedia:Featured picture candidates/Ancient Egypt map, and made an explanation of the map. Is this satisfactory? Thanks, Jeff Dahl (Talkcontribs) 19:39, 26 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Update added. Cairo and Jerusalem, as reference cities, now have black dots and italics to set them apart. Jeff Dahl (Talkcontribs) 18:03, 27 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

NowCommons: File:Hagia Sophia Interior Dome.jpg[edit]

File:Hagia Sophia Interior Dome.jpg is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:File:Hagia Sophia Interior Dome.jpg. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[File:Hagia Sophia Interior Dome.jpg]]. Note that this is an automated message to inform you about the move. This bot did not copy the image itself. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 04:49, 16 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
