You added some more recent sources, which is helpful, but the data you entered was closer to 90% false than 90% accurate. When you were done, the numbers in the infobox matched the cited sources for only 6 out of 40 countries! Many entries cited no sources, and expanding the list in the infobox from 22 countries to 40 exhibited poor judgement. If English is not your first language, that could explain some of your mistakes, and editing complex infoboxes can be difficult for novice editors, but the sheer scale of your errors goes way beyond inexperience. Dear WorldBruce English isn't my first language. I'm from Bangladesh. I'm a journalist . Those are my collected data you recently changed i know some are not accurate because of good and strong reference . But please you have to add those countries. If you think I'm wrong you can search Google or some international newspaper and sites. You will get those countries. Also i think you don't have a good idea about Bangladesh . No, Wikipedia does not have to add those countries. Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information. It should not exhaustively list every detail of a topic, even if it is true. This is an encyclopedia, it should summarize accepted knowledge regarding its subject.

Furthermore, infoboxes are supposed to be concise. The list of countries is supposed to be those with "significant populations" of Bangladeshis – a summary of the most important populations, not a long list of every population.

I trimmed the list to countries with at least one one-hundredth of one percent (0.0001) of the total population of Bangladeshis. At current World Bank estimates, 16,300 people. This cutoff has several advantages:

• It keeps the list reasonably short.
• There is a substantial gap between the last entry on the list (Libya 20,000) and the next largest population (South Korea 12,678).
• Adding the next largest population to the list would only increase the amount of the diaspora broken down by country by 0.17%, an insignificant amount.
• It already lists considerably more countries (21 vs. 12) than the executive summary of the single source that lists more countries than any other, the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment's 2017 report on annual migration. It also nearly completely covers that set of countries, omitting only China and South Korea, which are not in the top two-thirds.[1]
• It is more complicated than a fixed number, but still fairly simple.

You are welcome to seek consensus for a different cutoff at Talk:Bangladeshi diaspora, but if you think a long list will be acceptable, then you don't have a good understanding of Wikipedia. --Worldbruce (talk) 16:12, 19 May 2021 (UTC)

• Canada: 100,000 → 100,000-200,000 N The source doesn't support 200,000, it says "Some estimate that there are over 100,000 Bangladeshis" [8]

  The reliability of Statista is questionable. Only one editor has opined that it is reliable, whereas two were of the opinion that it is unreliable (see 1, 2). A better source would be Statistiska centralbyrån.[19]

As explained on 19 May in the previous section, only countries with a significant population belong in the infobox. Although it is verifiable that there are Bangladeshis in Switzerland, New Zealand, France, and Sweden, the numbers there are a negligible part of the diaspora. The body of the article can be more detailed than the infobox, which is supposed to be a high level summary, but don't include smaller populations in the infobox without first establishing consensus on Talk:Bangladeshi diaspora for a cutoff lower than 16,300.

You've done some useful work, such as finding more recent sources for Saudi Arabia and Italy, but if you continue to make edits that are at best half true, and three-quarters of which are completely false, the community will not allow you to continue editing. --Worldbruce (talk) 21:35, 27 May 2021 (UTC)

Errors and excessive detail in Bangladeshi diaspora infobox

Your most recent batch of edits to Bangladeshi diaspora included these problematic additions:

• France 50,000 (2020) [21] As explained on 27 May, although the source says "We, more than 50,000 Bangladeshi people", it's quoting a random Bangladeshi migrant. A man on the street is not a reliable source for demographic data. A reliable source would be Institut national de la statistique et des études économiques, which says there were 15,200 Bangladeshis in France as of 2018.[22]
• Germany 16,410 (2020) [23] As explained on 27 May in the case of Sweden, the reliability of Statista is questionable. A better source would be the Federal Statistical Office of Germany.[24]
• Greece 12,000-20,000 (2019) [25] The source doesn't support 20,000, which is plucked from thin air. It says "there are as many as 12,000 undocumented Bangladeshi migrant men who work in the agrarian labor market in Greece".
• Japan 14,956 (2016) [26] The 2020 source says the city of Sapporo's foreign population was 14,956, of whom about 100 are believed to be Bangladeshi.
• Netherlands 5,000 (2012) [27] Presenting a single number obscures the subtleties of the source, which says "There are a little over 1,500 officially registered Bangladeshis in the Netherlands. However ... According to a Bangladeshi migrant organisation located in the Netherlands, the number lies somewhere between 4,500 and 5,000. Another Bangladeshi organisation estimates the number to be at least 2,500."
• Sweden 12,279 (2020) [28] As explained before, the reliability of Statista is questionable. A better source would be the 2019 Statistiska centralbyrån.[29]
