Iqaluit[edit]

You are right it needs a better reference as to the fact that all places in the north are expensive. Enter CambridgeBayWeather, waits for audience applause, not a sausage 17:14, 13 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

9th Ward[edit]

Hi. I reverted your edit to Ninth Ward of New Orleans. You added a link relevent to the 17th Street Canal, which is pretty much the other side of the city from the Ninth Ward. Cheers, -- Infrogmation (talk) 21:38, 13 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Whoops. I misread the page. There's even a sentence in the article referring to the media misidentifying the location of the canal! Thanks for catching that. Best, Badums (talk) 20:24, 14 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hey Hu12, my bad. I'm sorry my actions have been interpreted as spamming (reading the spam article, they most likely were). As I would like to continue to be a contributing member to the Wikipedia community, I will stop all offensive actions immediately. I'll do my homework and you won't hear from me (in a negative way) again. Thanks for the warning, I appreciate what you do for the community. Badums (talk) 18:29, 21 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • In regard to your Sockpuppet investigation, I wanted to let you know that the other accounts listed above are not my accounts. As this is the first warning I have received, I agree with Nathan that blacklisting the url is a bit overkill. Best, Badums (talk) 18:59, 21 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

SPI[edit]

Hi Badums, the checkuser result indicates that your account is linked by technical data to the Aryoerg and Sjelfara accounts. Can you explain this link in light of your statement above that they are not your accounts? Nathan T 14:46, 24 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Sure Nathan,
Aryoerg and Sjelfarra work at a non-profit I just joined called Explore (I'd link you to it, but I believe it is blacklisted at the moment). Explore is a project of the Annenberg Foundation, and the project's purpose is to highlight the efforts of non-profit leaders around the world as well as to spread education about topics rarely covered by the mainstream media. The result has been (and continues to be) a large collection of PBS-style documentaries on interesting people, places and things. I think that we were all unaware that our attempts to spread this knowledge by using it to reference uncited claims on wikipedia violated the link-spamming guidelines. When I joined, I was unaware of previous warnings given to Aryoerg and Sjelfarra. In adding external links or citations, I worked to follow these guidelines and felt that I had not violated them. I apologize - I guess this is a long winded explanation of why those accounts are not mine.
In summary, The two above accounts and I have violated the link spamming guidelines, and I apologize on behalf of us all (especially to Hu12 who spent so much time taking down every explore link), however, I do feel many (if not all) of the links are educational, relevant and serve no commercial purpose. I will contact Hu12 personally to see if he would be comfortable re-adding a few links (especially the link on the Annenberg Foundation page). Please let me know if that is not ok. Blacklisting[edit]

{{ghelpme}}Hello, some of my work associates made a string of mistakes and managed to get the domain explore.org blacklisted from wikipedia. Now that I have a clearer idea of what constitutes link spamming, I was wondering how to protest the blackisting of that domain. I tried to discuss the issue with the concerned editor, but he gave me a canned response and then ignored my subsequent effort to speak with him. I'm not planning on adding any explore.org links in the future, but it is an educational resource on the internet and I believe it is unfair for the mistakes of some to keep a great resource from wikipedians. Can anyone suggest an action for me? Thanks. --Badums (talk) 21:10, 22 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there! WP:SBL is the local spam blacklist talk page, you can bring it up there. Thanks! :) — neuro(talk) 21:21, 22 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
