List of Modern School alumni

[edit]

Bakshir
Please read my reply to your post on my talk page, and STOP adding unsourced material to List of Modern School alumni.
You need to be able to show, by adding citations, that every entry in the list meets WP:BIO i.e. has received significant coverage in independent reliable sources - not material published by the school.
The easiest way to demonstrate this is to Write the article first and then add the name to the list after the article has been accepted. - Arjayay (talk) 15:04, 14 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Arjayjay,

First and foremost, I'm not very comfortable using these talk pages and/or much of wikipedia, so bear with me as I quickly learn how to maneuver my was around. After all I'm only here to improve upon the previous page that existed (fragments of it's original validity are clearly visible from the portions that remain unedited at least by me). Second, I do not see a conflict of interest in using well-documented sources (most within the public domain and easily accessible by quick google search, so rest assured I'm not adding anything out of my whims and fancies, which is the implication, I guess). I am well aware of proper citation, as I said I am still figuring my way around wikipedia, but having said that, some sources will stem from the School page, such as admission policy, funding and fees, etc. I accept you don't want me to source the school webpage in the alumni list, fair enough, but I do not accept you accusation that I am biased because of my affiliation. Clearly, you must be aware that certain things, such school traditions can only be recored by lived experience and which I am fully attempting to cite through published work by alumni. However, such in-depth citation and research requires time, I am not a wikipedia editor and nor do I spend every waking moment editing wikipedia pages. I implore you to better use your time editing pages with questionable validity (I can give you a long list here) rather than attacking a member of the public who is citing and working on a rigorous and well researched page. And finally, I find it extremely offensive that you, as a wikipedia editor, would stoop threatening someone about blocking them.

Sincerely.

Bakshir
I am not questioning your good intentions, but you have to both understand, and play by, Wikipedia's rules and guidelines.
Wikipedia is "the encyclopedia anyone can edit" and you simply cannot post a sentence like "STOP MAKING CHANGES that really should not be your concern" as you did on my talk page.
My "concern" is ensuring that articles are within the guidelines, and that is why I made the changes, because your additions were clearly not within the guidelines.
Although you then tried to remove your message from my talk page, I have reverted it, as its removal makes a nonsense of my reply
I note you removed the "unsourced" warning I posted above. You are entitled to do that, but removal is taken as evidence that you have read and understood the message - you cannot claim "ignorance of the rules".
As you say, the "in-depth citation and research requires time" but you need to spend that time before making the additions, not add the unsourced material first, on a claim that you will provide sources later.
Most alumni lists have a strict "No article = no inclusion" policy, and many editors will simply remove any and all names without their own articles. I am actually more tolerant of names which have a clear claim to notability, with sufficient references, but these references need to fully meet WP:BIO.
The only way to stop another, more zealous, editor removing every entry without its own article, is to write that article, before adding the name to the list.
I, therefore, suggest, you remove the unsourced additions you have made to the article, or I will have to remove them, as they do not comply with the guidelines, and issue you a stiffer warning
I am not "threatening to block you" - I am not an administrator, so I cannot block you - but I am making you aware of the rules, so you cannot complain if someone else does block you for repeatedly breaking the rules by making unsourced additions. - Arjayay (talk) 16:10, 14 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Arjayjay

Do as you please. The internet is domain of trolls like you. Clearly, you have not seen alumni pages that I have seen on wikipedia, again, venture forth a simple google search. Might help. Make whatever changes you want, as I no longer have any interest in updating or writing for wikipedia.
