Harringay Stadium

I'm not a speedway fan myself, but I noticed that you'd removed a speedway link on the Harringay Stadium page. I left it there because it seemd to link to potentially useful stuff for someone who's interested in Speedway - all the Harringay results for example.

Did you have a specific reason for removing it?

hjuk (talk) 15:53, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

Although I believe you added that link in good faith, as far as I know it is considered as spam (see Wikipedia:Spam) and it will be deleted eventually by someone. Feel free to undo my version if you disagree. BarretBonden (talk) 16:11, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

Nooo. I didn't add it. I left what someone else had added because I considered that it gave potentially useful extra info to someone interested in speedway. I'll take a look at the spam policy and take it from there. Cheers. hjuk (talk) 16:26, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

Oh I see, sorry for the confusion. I'm no expert on what is considered spamming so I could be wrong. BarretBonden (talk) 16:32, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

Hi, and thanks for your note. It should be appearing any time soon on the Main Page. In a couple of days time, you will be able to see how many people clicked on the hook and read the article by going to this site: [1]. There should be a big "spike" on 31st May. I find that having an article on DYK tends to boost "visitor numbers" from a couple of dozen to over a thousand on that day, which feels nice! Hassocks5489 (tickets please!) 12:44, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

Poole Stadium

Updated DYK query On 31 May, 2008, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Poole Stadium, which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

Hi, I have noticed your edits to the article over the last month and want to offer my thanks with this barnstar. Your recent additions including the references and links are excellent and I do believe that the article is almost up to WP:Good Article standard. Perhaps you would like to nominate if you feel its ready? I also suggest you add your name to user help with sources box on the talk page. Keep up the good work and all the best. I wondered if you wouldn't mind taking a look at this new article for me and see if you can't improve it a bit more when you have time. Many thanks Waterden (talk) 14:38, 10 September 2008 (UTC)

Belle Vue and Wolves results

I have removed the table of results from the articles of the two above teams. It is not the remit of wikipedia to report match results within an article such as these. However I do feel it may possibly have a place as a stand alone article, linked from the main article. For rhis reason I have copied the contents to the articles talk page. Please let me know what you think when you have time. Waterden (talk) 15:59, 11 September 2008 (UTC)

Template:Speedway Elite League

I like the job done on the template. Can you please leave the links to other legues somewhere though.. maybe in see also ? Cheers Waterden (talk) 17:37, 14 October 2008 (UTC)

Do you use AWB ? If not I can remove the seasons templates from all the EL teams using mine if you like. Will you be able to do the same with the PL and CL templates? Waterden (talk) 18:01, 14 October 2008 (UTC)

Rider infobox

I have given it a bit of a revamp. Tell me what you think. I am going to ask a template expert to make up a speedway version of football squad templates. Also a template where we can add as many honours, career teams etc separately as needed on the speedway info box. I will go round updating them all by hand if I can get the box done right. 22:01, 14 October 2008 (UTC)

Thanks. Havent found any that look too bad yet. What I would like to do is get some help to make ones like the football, but with different lines for honours .. honour 1 2 3 etc. And the same with teams ridden for. It would mean updating them all by hand but its easier on say 400 articles than it would be on 1000 at a later date.
I have got many of the early riders from world finals sorted now. so will have time to do the updating, just need someone to build the templates. Have been looking for an expert. The football ones are very complicated. Waterden (talk) 15:26, 15 October 2008 (UTC)
The squad templates like we have on speedway. Wanted to adapt some features to work in our current infobox too, for honours and previous clubs. Would also like to make current clubs section diappear totally when not used, ie for dead riders. Waterden (talk) 15:33, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

Speedway teams

I think they need leaving on team pages. I agree they do look a bit messy but there is no other way of displaying them. I put them into a columns so that when the next season is ready they will drop into threes which does help. The pages will build up hopefully over the years. Maybe we could format them all into tables ? What do you think ?Waterden (talk) 16:09, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

Not sure an article about speedway teams individual seasons would be important enough for wiki. Could always try it to see what happens I guess. It seems we edit speedway articles the most and we have bigger fish to fry right now ! Cheers mate Waterden (talk) 21:34, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

Weymouth

Just a quick note that I weighed in on the issue, and I think WikiProject Equine as a whole is not apt to object to whatever you folks ultimately decide. We had some concerns with the same editor creating a number or new articles, templates, stubs and redirects created absent any discussion or consensus in our project. Just FYI that you got caught up in a wider situation. Montanabw(talk) 01:04, 20 November 2008 (UTC)

Your request for rollback

After reviewing your request for rollback, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback can be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback may be removed at any time.

If you no longer want rollback, then contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some information on how to use rollback, you can view this page. I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, just leave me a message if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Alpha is not a company or corporation but, as the article says, a small unincorporated community in Hamblen County, Tennessee. Any further explanation would be greatly appreciated.

Dear Barret

i did not as you say 'vandalise' the article, I simply corrected it. As you can easily say that anyone who makes bombs are terrorists. The Tamil Tigers did not launch a never ending attack on the sinhalese and the rest of the world like you little girls think, they attempt to protect the people of Wanni, by whatever means necessary from the attacks of the sinhalese goverment who will massacre and kill millions of tamils in their wake, if they get to Wanni. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.209.30.26 (talk) 19:00, 3 January 2009 (UTC)

Your edit was nothing but an unsourced opinion. You have recieved a number of warnings before about your disruptive editing, so I consider it to be vandalism. You may wish to take a look at Wikipedia:Neutral point of view and Wikipedia:Verifiability before editing in the future. If you can find reliable third-party published sources to verify your claims then by all means add this information to the article. BarretBonden (talk) 19:47, 3 January 2009 (UTC)

Exit Clov Wiki Page

Hi,

I have been trying to clean up the Exit Clov page I created (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exit_clov) and am looking for help with this. I added the one inline citation you can see, which I originally thought was causing the question mark box to appear atop the page. Now I am just not sure why it is there. Please let me know what I can do to get rid of this message. Please respond to my email address, reid.benditt@gmail.com.

Re Battle of Assaye

Hi,

Thanks for dropping me a line. Great that you are thinking of a GAC.

Here's the reference to the public monument :-

<ref name='Sarbans'>Singh, Sarbans (1993) ''Battle Honours of the Indian Army 1757 - 1971''. Vision Books (New Delhi) [ISBN 81-7094-115-6] (pg 107 refers)</ref>

Here's what Sarbans Singh writes:-

This battle in the Deccan was fought against a numerically superior Maratha forces on 23 September 1803. Wellesley had to deliver a frontal attack with a river in his rear and a defeat would have resulted in the destruction of his force. It was a triumph more splendid than any recorded in Deccan history though at the cost of heavy casualties, almost 1 in 3. It proved the usefulness of cavalry for reconnaissance and pursuit. In reply to a question as to what was the best he had done by way of fighting, Wellesley's pithy reply was "Assaye". It was, no doubt, a general's battle and a decisive one at that. A public monument was erected at Fort William, Calcutta to commemorate the victory. The native troops consisted of Madras Line only and were awarded the honour with the device of Elephant vide GOGG dated 30 October 1803. The Madras Battalions celebrated the victory for over a century till their disbandment in the 1920s. Only the Madras Engineers have this unique honour now but it counts as repugnant.

Hope this helps.

I'll require two or three days or two to go over the wiki due to my workload.

Battle of Assaye

Hi, I've reviewed the Battle of Assaye article as a good article nominee, and made a number of suggesions for improvement. In general, I'd say it's a great article and just needs a few little tweaks before I'd be more than willing to call it a Good Article. Once you've had a chance to look at my comments, just drop a note on my talk page, and I'll have another look. Thanks. Cool3 (talk) 16:49, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

I've passed it, it looks like a great article. Most of the general suggestions are certainly things to keep in mind if you go for FA, but for now it's GA quality. Cool3 (talk) 15:05, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

I've just seen the edits you made to Food waste in the United Kingdom as well and I'm very thankful you made them! I simply don't know enough about Wiki policy to make the kinds of edits and links you did. I'm in no doubt this will bolster the article's chances of GA. Many thanks. MasterOfHisOwnDomain (talk) 12:48, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

No problem at all. One thing I wasn't sure about was whether or not tonnes would need to be converted to an imperial measurement in the main text – for example 1,000 tonnes (980 long tons) – or if this was a case of a "scientific topic where there is consensus among the contributors not to convert the metric units" (per WP:UNITS). Anyway, good work and I hope it passes GAN. BarretBonden (talk) 15:37, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

BarretBonden, Thanks For Reminding Me - Castle Article

BarretBonden, thank you for reminding me about the summary edit on the Castle article. I won't forget next time when I make edits. Thank you for letting me, buddy. Have a good one! Davidx5 (talk) 02:03, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

Que pasa?

Are you even looking at what I am doing? There is no article named million solar roofs, or future energy development. Asking for a reference that biofuel and biomass give off carbon dioxide? That's a no brainer. What gives? 199.125.109.120 (talk) 01:12, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

I simply reverted your edit. I have no involvment in editing this article in any other way. If you have issues with the article, perhaps use the article talk page to discuss them instead? BarretBonden (talk) 05:41, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

I have just spent 1 hour 15 mins precisely checking out and reverting every single edit by that absolutely stupid nationalistic anti-Italian f..k w.t who attacked that article and deleted every reference to anything Italian, including a list of famous architects, and deliberately mis-named Italian buildings as Spanish. I notice that you had already picked up on one change. I wish that you had checked and reverted a few more, while it could be done simply, instead of leaving it until further edits had been made.

Everything this person did was a stuff-up, even apparently innocent edits that merely added information about Spanish castles. The reason why this was a stuff-up was that it was done without regard for where the paragraph was heading or the point that the writer was trying to make. If you had a hand in writing this article, then you need to maintain it scrupulously from this destructive idiot. Amandajm (talk) 10:35, 19 April 2009 (UTC)

BarretBonden, the Davidx5 (talk) who has responded to you so politely, thanked you for letting him edit and wished you "have a good one!" is the A.H. who totally devastated the castle article. His non-numeric talk page has a long list of warnings. Check it out. Amandajm (talk) 10:46, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
I don't really have much involvment with editing this article – it's only on my watchlist because it receives a lot of IP vandalism. Perhaps I should have been bold and just reverted it all straight away but I wasn't 100% sure it was blatant vandalism and thought I would give the editor a chance to explain their edits. I hadn't really thought about it since – my watchlist is far too long. Thanks for the message and good work fixing those edits. BarretBonden (talk) 16:33, 19 April 2009 (UTC)

You do not appear to be using the four tildes (~~~~) which will produce a link to your user page and talk page, and will allow other users to see the time and date when your comment was made. See Wikipedia:Signatures for more info. Also remember new discussions should be placed at the bottom of talk pages. Cheers. BarretBonden (talk) 19:12, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

Who told me to stop? One user told me to stop undoing one redlink. Until you give me a legitimate reason to stop I think the best thing to do is to carry on. What about all of the good reasons for undoing them? If there ever is a page created on the subject then it should be made a link again. But until then. With compliments. DAFMM (talk).
