Hello, JyriL and WilliamKF. Thank you for giving me a kind, polite advice when editing WP. Suddenly, page name was changed without following the rule of WP and there was no division. I apologize because it is prudent. Certainly, it is embarrassed that the edit history disappears. I do not edit it to this page thereafter because I want to avoid "Movement war". However, please confirm the following matters to you.--Bay Flam 00:38, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

47 Tucanae

[edit]

It is true that Flamsteed designations were given to stars (globular clusters were unknown at the time). However, it does not mean the designation is wrong. "47 Tucanae" is the name of the cluster and is in fact more commonly used than the NGC designation. Therefore the article should be located at 47 Tucanae. Same applies to Omega Centauri.--JyriL talk 18:08, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to revert this change because, even if agreed to, it is not the method by which such changes are supposed to be accomplished. As done, we lose the edit history. The sanctioned method is to ask an administrator to do the move to preserve the history. However, before such a request, a proposal should be made on the talk pages and allow people to comment on it. If it is generally agreed, then the move would proceed. Please see WP:RM for more instructions on this process. Thanks. WilliamKF 23:37, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Traditional Chinese star names in the Purple Forbidden Enclosure, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a foreign language article that was copied and pasted from another Wikimedia project, or was transwikied out to another project. Please see Wikipedia:Translation to learn about requests for, and coordination of, translations from foreign-language Wikipedias into English.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on Talk:Traditional Chinese star names in the Purple Forbidden Enclosure. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Kyle1278 (talk) 02:01, 20 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The main reason it was put up for deletion was the fact that it is not in English this is the English version of Wikipedia I suggest you make the page on the Chinese version. Kyle1278 (talk) 03:47, 20 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation

[edit]

I see that you created the disambiguation page Arrakis (disambigartion), then moved it to Arrakis (disambigation), citing the spelling error. It is actually spelled "disambiguation". I moved it to the correct title, Arrakis (disambiguation). Just wanted to let you know. Jujutacular talkcontribs 13:38, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Template:Zodiacal signs

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Template:Zodiacal signs requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{transclusionless}}</noinclude>).

Praise

[edit]

For this edit I praise you greatly! The user in question had a history of inventing star names, f.ex. ε Lep "Nefarte", μ Lep "Sasanka" and 12 Aql "Bered" and δ Cyg the ridiculous "Ignyc Atled". Thanks and have a nice time until whenever you rejoin. Rursus dixit. (mbork3!) 19:12, 12 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Pardon

[edit]

My deletion of Magalhãnica (for α Cru), Rubídea (for γ Cru), Palida (for δ Cru), and Intrometida was hasty. Pardon! Thanks for notifying me! Rursus dixit. (mbork3!) 10:04, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your editing of ... (Ilvon's respond)

[edit]

Answer #1

What about :

etc...

Maybe R.H. Allen works still have inconsistance (especially about the Chinese star and I found them), but it still the best source for etymology of the star name. Almost of The Chinese name of the stars were derived from the asterism that they were located. Possibly it's used to mark the asterism.

Answer #2

Maybe these name were not used now but I put the name from Achsasi's catalogue is for knowledge. As long as I put them with the references, I think it's still ok rather than if I put the fake name.

Thx

Teen Ta Tseang Keun (天大将军, Tiān Dà Jiāng Gjūn)

[edit]

I am interested to your article about Teen Ta Tseang Keun (simplified Chinese: 天大将军; traditional Chinese: 天大將軍; pinyin: Tiān Dà Jiāng Gjūn), it was more complete explanation about the asterism. Could you give me the link of the sources? Thank you very much :) Ilvon (talk) 14:26, 11 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Isaac Habrecht

[edit]

Hello, Bay Flam. Thanks for setting up this disambiguation page. I've given it a small tidy to meet the style guidelines, but the last two entries don't meet MOS:DABRL, so will probably be deleted, making it a redirect to Isaac Habrecht I. This seems a shame, as they seem notable, but disambiguation pages are only really indexes of existing articles. If you know where they have a decent mention in another article (not the surname page) then please add a redlink to their names, or let me know which articles and I'll do it. Alternatively, perhaps you know enough about them to create a stub article? Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. Best wishes, Boleyn (talk) 09:08, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a search with the contents of List of proper names of stars by constellation, and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: List of star names in Crux. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally trying to rename an article, please see Help:Moving a page for instructions on how to do this without copying and pasting. If you are trying to move or copy content from one article to a different one, please see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia and be sure you have acknowledged the duplication of material in an edit summary to preserve attribution history.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. CorenSearchBot (talk) 07:11, 14 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

There really isn't much here that can't be covered elsewhere I would have thought. Do you have a strong attachment to it or do you mind if I redirect it? Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 19:53, 7 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited 16 Lyncis, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Variable. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Dubious source for Delta Aquilae's proper name

[edit]

Hi. We are discussing here about this edition you have added two weeks ago. As there are several concerns about that name for the star, as well as the source you have provided, I would please ask if you can provide a source easier to verify, or other evidence about the traditional use of that name. Or at least, contribute with your opinion in the talk page. Eynar Oxartum (talk) 22:19, 29 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Iota Orionis and Gamma2 Sagittarii. If you have a problem with these, then I've got another 5,000 or so articles you need to take a look at. And if that's the case, you probably need to start a discussion here. It might be a good idea anyway if you think there is something wrong with the use of spelled-out Greek letters in Bayer designations. Lithopsian (talk) 17:46, 30 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
