In the 'Periyar Ramasami' article, it must be mentioned that Periyar was the title he got from his admirers, which means 'great one' and he remains a controversial figure. Be that as may, his official name was E.V.Ramasami Naicker and that is how he called himself. As a convenience, EVR name can also be used and he was called as EVR also; hence EVR or E.V.Ramsami Naicker be used throughout.
