Moving pages[edit]

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give Lorain County Metroparks a different title by copying its content and pasting it into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is considered undesirable because it splits the page historywhich is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other articles that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. - Eureka Lott 15:00, 12 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Namespace vio[edit]

I have moved Bdb484:The Buckeye Institute to User:Bdb484/sandbox. (I did not copy&paste!) Make sure that you establish the notability of the Institute before you post to the (Article) namespace. (A copy&paste would actually be permissible for that posting.) —RHaworth (Talk | contribs) 20:42, 30 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I wasn't sure where that was supposed to go. Thanks.Bdb484 (talk) 23:29, 30 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Thanks for the notice on College Hill. Mvincec (talk) 15:18, 3 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Eagles fans[edit]

Hey, Tom.

I'm going to submit a request for a third opinion on the Eagles fans situation. I just put up my take on it, and I thought I'd let you know about it before I put the request in. —Bdb484 (talk) 03:34, 23 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds good. Hopefully even more editors than that can take a look and help out. --Tom 13:30, 23 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Talk Pages and Vandalism[edit]

You continue to leave me messages with regards to vandalism of talk pages. I fail to understand, however, how I can vandalize my own talk page. Moreover, (and you would have no way of knowing this, which I understand) I am Williston_K, but frequently neglect to sign in. I'm new to WP, so if I am not following protocol, I apologize, but I would appreciate it if the "warnings" stopped. Thank you.--71.60.106.168 (talk) 13:22, 26 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for checking in. You need to stop pulling down warnings from the talk page, which creates the appearance that you're trying to hide your editing record. —Bdb484 (talk) 17:44, 26 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I would like my record cleaned, to be honest. I do not like the appearance of being a vandal when all I have done is make edits to pages that are my own. --71.60.106.168 (talk) 23:29, 26 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Eric Mangini[edit]

I saw your edits involving Eric Mangini, and feel like that personal life information is pertinent (and sourceable, although it wasn't at the time). I think it makes sense to remove the adjective "renowned" before sports agent, but was curious as to your rationale for removing it. J. Matthew Bailey (talk) 23:56, 26 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for asking. I agree that the information is worth including. The only reason I took it out was that it was included again two paragraphs down, with citations. —Bdb484 (talk) 03:15, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the explanation. I didn't see that the information was duplicated upon first looking at the page, and appreciate you removing it. J. Matthew Bailey (talk) 05:36, 28 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of notable alumni sections on NFL team pages[edit]

Was there any discussion of removing these sections from so many articles? Those are some large sections that have existed for a long time and worked on by a lot of people. There should be some discussion before such a wholesale change. —Wrathchild (talk) 14:11, 7 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

KillerChihuahua misapplies the rules on edit warring[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Alan Keyes. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may beblocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. If necessary, pursue dispute resolution. KillerChihuahua?!? 15:51, 12 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have temporarily blocked you, for 24 hours (initially 1 week, but I reduced it) for disruptive editing. The above really does not help. Please stop.rootology (C)(T) 17:04, 12 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Right. I'm not sure that's disruptive, but I'm not an admin. I was blocked moments before I could post this to KC's talk page, so here it is:
I'm not going to be striking it in this hour, but I will put it back where I put it originally. I'm sure no one meant to make it appear that I had created a section called "paranoid and unhinged."
How about this: I apologize for my incivility. I respectfully request that KC exercise some restraint in making accusations of personal attacks. Some may be well-founded; others clearly are not. Either way, a user with experience as broad and deep as hers should know by now that trotting out those accusations at the first available moment is contrary to AGF (even if it's not a suicide pact), and that it reliably derails civil discussion. It needs to stop.

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Bdb484 (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

The block is unnecessary because the above edit was not disruptive. KillerChihuahua warned me -- presumably in good faith -- that I was edit warring, which was not the case because I was in fact reverting the work of an IP vandal. My response was perhaps over-the-top, but was clearly in jest and not in violation of any policy. Further, I resolve not to type in all caps anymore, because we all know that's really annoying.

Decline reason:

procedural decline: Your block has expired already :). -- Luk talk 07:09, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

A tag has been placed on Aladdin's Eatery requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company or corporation, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for companies and corporations.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note onthe talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contactone of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. "Ctrl-click"[edit]

I'm not sure how that happens. It might be that certain sidebar shortcuts (such as the buttons above and below the edit boxes) will simulate button actions, and (I think) every keyboard action is identified by a name in the operating system, and somewhere along the road, this happens. It's beyond me. Leo-Roy! review/gb 17:28, 25 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re: To Market, To Market[edit]

Thanks for the good wishes. There's some serious paring down that would do Wikipedia well, especially with the ability to set up a dedicated Wiki and transfer the piles and piles of articles on over in a few hours. I'll try to fire at the other seasons over the next day or so, and I'll try firing at some other shows as well once I'm done with MASH (and I'll try to keep Law & Order in mind for that).Tyrenon (talk) 08:58, 4 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Comment on my talk[edit]

I have no anti-Federer agenda at all. Federer has never won a singles Gold Medal. The four majors noted as part of the golden slam are singles, as the gold medal should be. And that other IP may appear to you to have something to do with me, but it doesn't at all. Premium clown.88.110.69.31 (talk) 01:53, 13 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Bonnyrigg White Eagles[edit]

Hi mate. Just wondering why you removed the sections of notable former players and managers from the article. Most if not football club articles have a section like that and all of the players mentioned I believe would fall under the notable persons criteria as well as being sourced adequately on their individual pages. I'm a bit of a noob so I'm just trying to understand it. Thanks. batobatobato (talk) 02:53, 14 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. The edits you're talking about are an extension of my work on the pages of the various American football teams, where the "notable players" sections were also very common. There are several reasons that these sections come down:
  • they are arbitrary lists with no objective criteria for inclusion, essentially a list of Wikipedia editors' favorite players;
  • they are unsourced; and
  • they constitute original research, as players are included because editors — not reliable sources —find them notable.
In these cases, the criteria for being included as a "notable player" is different from the notability criteria that would allow a player to have his own article. Playing at the professional level is typically enough to warrant a BLP, but that can't be the standard for "notable player" on a team's page because every player in the team's history would then be included. That leaves the reader with a list that is overwhelming and completely uninformative. Instead, we need to narrow the list down to present players whose careers with the team were notable in their own right.
For a good example of how the "notable player" lists can be managed, see the Baltimore Ravens orNew England Patriots pages, which have several categories of players listed as notable, but with specific criteria that is independent of WP editors' judgment. — Bdb484 (talk) 03:57, 14 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

What do you mean consensus version? - Peregrine Fisher (talk) (contribs) 23:57, 21 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I mean the version that had been intact for over a month. Beyond being the consensus version, the previous version -- as I mentioned in the edit summary -- had additional wikilinking, links to the correct pages instead of redirects, and used reliable sources instead of Futon Critic's press releases. Additionally, your revert restored minor grammar errors. The only thing that I can see that it added was one source, which I hadn't noticed the first time around and will restore myself. — Bdb484 (talk) 00:09, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That's fine. Their was an attempt to delete the article a while back, so I just wanted to keep as many sources as possible in it to forestall any more deletion attempts. - Peregrine Fisher (talk) (contribs) 00:39, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Question about an edit summary[edit]

HELLO Bdb484! =] - Megan Joy[edit]

Hello! So i see that you removed some info i added on Megan Joy's wikipedia page. Although it was all true, i forgot to add them damn references as proof as you said there wasn't enough! crap! so if you don't mind, imma add them back and try to put as much references as i can find as proof. :D Like from trusted blogs like mjsbigblog.com and idolstalker.com and such

Unfortunately though a screenshot IS NOT CONSIDERED PROOF for megan's youtube audition video reaching 1 million views. D: But i don't know why though! What a bummer! D:< I will try to find another reference hopefully.

luckily i was able to take a screenshot of the video before it was deleted, but i like i said its not considered as proof. :\

screenshot: http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/ss38/homezfoo/Joy_audition_video_screenshot_delet.jpg and i don't think its liable to be in the references list :[

I'm trying to add as much information on Megan Joy's american idol section on her wikipedia page as much as Allison Irahetas' has. Just so her fans and other people could know more about Megan and her idol journey. I'm also gonna re-add the things you deleted in her personal life and post idol career section with more references as well so people could know what Joy is currently doing now.

Reply back please on my talk page or however you like. Curious to know what you think. THANKS! --Homezfoo (talk) 08:40, 23 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Parkour in popular culture. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Parkour in popular culture (3rd nomination). Please be sure tosign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.
