2016 Kumamoto earthquake[edit]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give 2016 Kumamoto earthquake a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into 2016 Kumamoto earthquakes. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Jax 0677 (talk) 17:38, 15 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • My apologies for the improper page moving procedure, I do hope this doesn't cause too much trouble. BearGlyph (talk) 17:40, 15 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Fisher reference[edit]

Hello Anthony- In that book you referenced, I don't see any mention of fishers or the rarity in mammals of the ability to descend head-first (and I think the author neglected to put "head-first" in the key sentence). I don't disagree with the ability being rare, but it would be better to give a ref that supports the assertion. Eric talk 13:22, 3 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Eric, my interpretation of the author's statement that "some mammals" have evolved the ability to reverse the hind-claws is that the adaptation is only present in select mammals. For example, the American marten, a mustelid in the same genus as the Fisher, does not have this adaptation. The same claim with the same source, that descending a tree head-first by rotating the hind-claws is an uncommon ability, can be found within Eastern gray squirrel. Either both statements are supported by the source, or neither is supported by the source. I don't disagree that the wording in the source is perhaps too vague to solidly support the claim, but if the source doesn't work for this claim, the same within the eastern grey squirrel article should also be removed. I did find this source, which mentions that hind-claw reversal is related to descending a tree head-first. I will add it onto the phrase in question on both articles mentioned. However, this source does not explicitly mention the rarity of this adaptation either. I will do some more research. BearGlyph (talk) 13:47, 3 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Anthony- Thanks for the info, and for looking into sources. Does Alexander say that it's the claws, or the whole foot, that can be rotated? Eric talk 16:50, 3 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies for the unclear wording, it is the full hind foot which is rotated, not the claws themselves. The rotation of the foot facilitates the use of the claws in gripping the tree. This is mentioned in both Alexander's writing and the newly found source I mentioned earlier.BearGlyph (talk) 17:44, 3 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, good. Just wanted to make sure I hadn't worded it wrong, as I'm no expert on varmint articulation. Thanks again. Eric talk 18:54, 3 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Terry Fox and the Order of Canada[edit]

Hey! I saw your change, and while well meaning, I have reverted it. There are actually three postnominals for the Order of Canada, depending on what level a person reaches. "CM" for members, "OC" for officers, and "CC" for companions. As Fox was the latter, "CC" is proper in his case. Cheers! Resolute 22:45, 12 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

My mistake, thank you for the explanation. BearGlyph (talk) 13:13, 13 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The article 990s in art has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The only entry is incorrect. According to Fan Kuan, the artist was born c. 960, not 990.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- Tavix (talk) 22:52, 13 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
