Hi TheRetroGuy, I'm 99% it was BBC2. A torrent is currently available here: http://www.torrentdownloads.net/torrent/830432/the+eighties+(1989)+[vhsrip+(divx)]+sm+staff+approved ...which might prove it. I'm fairly sure BBC1 had something live at the same time, as it went on over midnight - I remember a happy new year message appearing on screen as we entered the 90s.
