Welcome[edit]

Welcome

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate encyclopedic contributions, but some of your recent contributions, such as your edit to the page Workers' compensation, seem to be advertising or for promotional purposes. Wikipedia does not allow advertising. For more information on this, see:

Links[edit]

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Since Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by some search engines, including Google. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. [1] --Ronz (talk) 20:44, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

August 2009[edit]

Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. If you continue spamming, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. MrOllie (talk) 19:49, 17 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Respectfully disagree that the external links to calculators and laws are too commerical. Certainly they are no more commerical than the first two links on the list (www.workerscompensation.com or http://www.wcexec.com/Home.aspx) . The later IS a subscription-based newsletter with ads all over it. Please apply the regulations evenly to all and if you feel the links I am adding are too commercial, kindly apply the same rules to all external links. I will add my two calculators back as there are no ads on my site at all. I hope that is OK. Look forward to hearing from you. Regards, Becks48. Becks (talk) 17:42, 29 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

December 2009[edit]

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Criminal record. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. I am hoping that rather than trying to argue that it is OK for you to add commerical links because others are doing it (as you did in your reply to the August 2009 notice) that you actually read the Wikipedia guidance on external links and take the guidance to heart. I'm not sure what article the August 2009 was referring to, but as of this moment there are no advertising or spam links in the Criminal record article. Although the external linked website you added has no explicit ads, clearly the purpose of the page is solicit potential customers by requiring them to provide contact information to get a podcast. hulmem (talk) 02:45, 3 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

November 2010[edit]

Please do not add advertising or inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did in Medicare (United States). Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that exist to attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policies for further explanations of links that are considered appropriate. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. - 208.81.184.4 (talk) 23:37, 23 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It is useful to remember that we can easily find & remove all external links to reduceyourworkerscomp.com using http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:LinkSearch&target=*.reduceyourworkerscomp.com to find each instance. At the time of this writing, they have all been removed. -- 208.81.184.4 (talk) 23:48, 23 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Same goes for workerscompkit.com -- 208.81.184.4 (talk) 00:04, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A review of wp:EL, wp:LINKSPAM, wp:SPA, wp:COI, and wp:FAQ/Organizations may be of use in understanding this & previous actions taken to remove these external links to a website you appear to have a direct relationship with. -- 208.81.184.4 (talk) 00:11, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

WP:GRIEF may also be enlightening in realizing the very common patterns on display regarding discussions about these two domains. Yes it is written in a humorous way, but there is a very useful, sometimes painful point. -- 208.81.184.4 (talk) 00:19, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
