A more personal welcome

[edit]

Thank you for your work on Malcolm Arnold - you wouldn't be a grubby little urchin from Padstow by any chance? :) DuncanHill 15:40, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I too like the appropriate username - found myself humming the main tune of the overture when I saw that you had worked on the Arnold page! Welcome from me as well. BencherliteTalk 13:08, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks all! No I am not from Padstow! ;) Just trying to improve the article a little! Beckus 13:30, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Douglas/Addinsell

[edit]

Hi, Beckus. Thanks for that very interesting bit of information. I've taken the opportunity to re-evaluate the current wording and I don't believe it's inconsistent with what we're saying about Douglas's contribution. Nowhere do we state that he composed any of the music in the sense of coming up with tunes independently of Addinsell. He orchestrated Addinsell's ideas, with guidance from him about which instruments played what. But my reading of your quote is that Addinsell did not specify the complete instrumentation down to the last triangle - it was broad brush strokes and main instruments only, which Douglas had to fill out with his own knowledge of what worked best. That's what I understand by "...I would eventually take my draft away and complete scoring in all details...". -- JackofOz (talk) 20:55, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Again, very interesting info about how methods vary. We're in unison about the distinctions between composition, orchestration and arranging. So, I'm a little unsure as to what it is that you have an issue with. -- JackofOz (talk) 08:41, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:RozsaCentenary.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:RozsaCentenary.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. ww2censor (talk) 05:09, 10 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
