November 2013[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that the username you have chosen, "Belairdirect-Grey Power", seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of something other than yourself. Please note that you may not edit on behalf of a company, group, institution, product, or website which relates to the entity in question, and Wikipedia does not allow usernames that are promotional or accounts that are shared. If you are willing to use a personal account, please take a moment to create a new account or request a username change that represents only yourself as an individual. You should also read our Conflict of interest guideline and Plain and simple conflict of interest guide, and remember that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. Drm310 (talk) 17:10, 19 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Sorry about that. Will request a username change. Please see my userpage for COI statement. Is this sufficient? My hope is to have a Wikipedian create the article rather than myself. Any guidance you can provide would be greatly appreciated!
This place have an incredible amount of rules, but the purpose is good. Let me quote from WP:ORGNAME: "However, usernames are acceptable if they contain a company or group name but are clearly intended to denote an individual person, such as "Mark at WidgetsUSA", "Jack Smith at the XY Foundation", "WidgetFan87", "LoveTrammelArt", etc." Try changing your username to something like that. Best wishes! Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 17:20, 19 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the update. I've put in a name change request for Marc @ belairdirect. I've also submitted my article requests to the business and finance companies page. Is there anything else I should do at this point other than wait?
Not unless you want to try your luck via WP:AFC anyway. If you want, you can start writing a WP:DRAFT and ask other editors for input later. Also, people appreciate it if you WP:SIGN your posts on talk pages. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 17:57, 19 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
As you only have 10 edits, it's just as easy to create a new user name and abandon this one.--ukexpat (talk) 19:23, 19 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, it looks like my usernmae change request was rejected for the inclusion of @. Will probably just create a new one. I assume nothing else changes with respect to the requested pages, I just post my COI statement on my userpage? We have a wealth of information about the company so if it helps editors I can certainly get a draft set up and ask for input. I was just under the impression that you shouldn't be attempting to create pages you are affiliated with. Regarding the signature, I set it in my preferences but it doesn't seem to be showing up on my posts. Sorry, I know I'm at serious nub level status here.
