Hello BennettAlex. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to Draft:LOCALiQ UK, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:BennettAlex. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=BennettAlex|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. DoubleGrazing (talk) 08:57, 11 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Morning guys, thank you for taking the time to review my submission for LOCALiQ UK. Firstly, I accept your original decision was fair as, admittedly, the first submission was advertising heavy (naively I was unaware of your publishing rules), but I believe the second one has stronger grounds for being published after editing the copy - see text below:

LOCALiQ is the digital marketing agency of Newsquest Media Group, a local media group in the UK. Founded in 2018, LOCALiQ provide businesses with digital marketing services and employ more than 60 people across England, Scotland, and Wales.
I feel the decision should be reversed as the text only states our umbrella company (Newsquest), who we are and how many people we employ across the UK. I will not make this promotional again (like my first attempt), however as we're a relatively new company I'm finding the article difficult to compose without breaking your publishing rules.
I would really appreciate your help with this to publish the page, how would you recommend I word this brief summary if the text isn't acceptable?
I'm also an employee of LOCALiQ tasked with creating this page, how do I create a mandatory disclosure on my user page? Will this help with my submission? I wholeheartedly apologise for overlooking this, again I was unaware of this process unfortunately.
Thank you so much for your help and I look forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards,
Alex BennettAlex (talk) 09:56, 17 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Wikipedia calls the content of the encyclopedia articles, not pages. This is an important distinction. Our articles are typically written by independent editors wholly unconnected with the topic. Please see WP:PAID for information on making a disclosure(which you may do on this page and once unblocked move it to your user page), and also read WP:COI. Please read WP:BOSS and have your superiors read it too, they have given you a difficult, if not impossible, task. Wikipedia is not interested in what businesses want to say about themselves and what they do, or as you term it, "the text only states our umbrella company (Newsquest), who we are and how many people we employ across the UK"- that is considered promotional here, you don't have to be soliciting or selling something. Wikipedia articles primarily summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about (in this case) a business, showing how it meets the special Wikipedia definition of a notable business. Not every business merits an article. You won't be unblocked to, in the short term, edit about your business. If that is your only goal here, this is the end of the road. If you are interested in being a general contributor and editing about topics for which you have no conflict of interest, please tell what those might be. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 10:07, 17 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Also feel free to show your superiors this message. 331dot (talk) 10:09, 17 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
