Stade

[edit]

Hi Beru, thanks for commenting on the Stade Français article. I think what you said about the sports-club (soccer etc) needs to be mentioned, but I think it would work better if there was a Stade Français (disambiguation link at the top of the Stade Français article, as opposed to moving Stade Français to Stade Français CASG, and making Stade Français a disambiguation. The only reason is that no one in the Englishh-speaking media refers to Stade Français as Stade Français CASG or Stade Français Paris, so I think the club name needs to stay at Stade Français. What else do you think we can do to improve the page? Thanks again. Cvene64 06:45, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Cvene! I think you're absolutely right about the disambiguation link. What should guide us is usage, and as you say, in Britain, it's just Stade Français. In fact, I'm pretty sure that it's the same over here — I doubt many people know it's a much bigger sports club because the rugby is standing above the rest.
>What else do you think we can do to improve the page?
Not much! I think that the page is real good and that it has reached the point where anything more will be superfluous. I read the page attentively and it looks real nice. I must have edited a couple of things about the squad, but it was just because it felt good to!! If that's OK with you, I'll deal with the disambig + a SF “multisports” page when I get back from holiday. I'm leaving today for 10 days. (Yummy!) :¬))
Any ways, thanks a lot for you msg. I'm new around here as a member although I've been contributing anonymously on the French WP for a year or so. A welcome from the old boys is always appreciated. LOL. BTW Stade won 45-13 last night... Best regards from Paris, Beru91 07:26, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Beru, thanks for replying. Yeah, I guess the page is pretty complete, it just needs full references, and maybe a section on Colours/jersey/logo would make it fully complete. I don't know enough about it, but maybe you could start a section, and describe what their jerseys look like and what the colours and logo represent? That would be fantastic if you get the chance.
Also, be sure to join the rugby project, by adding your name to the participants sub-page. It's great to have a French rugby fan over here on the english version, you guys over there have done a very good job with all the player profiles that have been created! Anyay, enjoy your holiday! Cheers. Cvene64 15:59, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Cvene! Thanks a lot for your comments. As you may have seen, I added a section on the colours, a hot topic when it comes to Stade, and on the various controversies engendered by the club. Would you proofread it and correct the language if need be? Other suggestions will be appreciated. I also joined the list of contributors at #46... I'm also creating the missing Pro D clubs. I did Oyonnax and corrected several others, but I've got work to do, so it's taking some time... Holiday was fun—thanks!! :¬))Beru91 17:56, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Wow! That was a fantastic effort Beru, you really did a great job. The article pretty much looks complete now, unless there is any info at al that can be added during the 50 years the spent in the lower divisions. Also, do you have any references (website, books) that we can use in the article? But yeah, excellant job, and good work on creating the Pro D2 clubs. Thanks for joining the project as well. Keep up the good work! Cvene64 23:55, 14 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hey Beru hows it going? I was wondering if you have any advice on how the SF History section can be expanded and become more detailed? and do you have any images or anything else you could add to the article? Thanks Cvene64 17:25, 14 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I was looking at all the sporting clubs that are featured articles, and I thought it would be a good idea to split off a History article, and then making the history section on the main page more of a summary. The finals results tables could also be moved into a new history article. And the other thing that could be useful is a list of records and statistics...Anyway, have fun at the game! License tagging for Image:SFRose.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:SFRose.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 19:08, 14 October 2006 (UTC)

Other French competitions

[edit]

Hi Beru, I was wondering if you would be able to help with the creation of two articles, the Coupe de France and the Coupe de l'Espérance. I understand that the Coupe de l'Espérance was played instead of the normal championship during the war? and the Coupe de France was something else played until 1999 or something? Do you know much about these competitions? I can't really find anything on them in English, so I thought maybe you could have a go? Cheers. Cvene64 05:51, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I just saw all the pages you created, and they are great, your English is very very good. Thanks a lot for doing that! Sorry you did not get to the Stade-Biarritz game! I did'nt even get it on TV! We only get Heineken Cup in Australia. That is so great that they broke the crowd record again, amazing! Umm, there is something I have been looking for, but havent found yet, which is records for the club? For example, most games, most tries, most points, largest win and largest loss etc? Is there anywhere we can find those? Also, great job with updating the Toulon page, it looks a lo better now! All the French teams are starting to look really good now. Cheers. Cvene64 02:53, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hey Beru, I just read the page on Yves, great job! Your contributions here are really appreciated! As for creating clubs on the English wiki, do you mean 5th division as in Federale 3? I think that would be ok. I would not go any lower than Federale 3 though. If you want to creat clubs, please do so, but if you dont want people to try and delete them or anything, just make sure there are always a few pages that link to them so it looks like the article is useful. And always try and write at least a paragraph or so, and be sure to categorize it. But yeah, Federale 3 is fine! Although I dont think we even have a Federale 3 page yet, so we should probably create that first. Also, if you are looking for something to update (like Toulon), check out Montpellier Hérault RC and SC Albi, they are currently the shortest articles for the Top 14 sides. And on SF, I understand what you mean, so dont worry about looking for records etc as that sort of information is not widely available, so I guess its not that important to the article. By the way, Rugby World Cup is going on the Main Page of Wikipedia on Oct. 24, so watch out for that! Just out of interest, are you going to games at the 2007 World Cup? Cheers. Cvene64 11:00, 22 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hey Beru, do you think we should write a new paragraph on the SF article about their rivalries with other teams? Kind of like the one in Queensland Reds? Cheers. Cvene64 16:38, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Great work on the Albi page! Alot of the French club pages are looking really good now. Cheers. Cvene64 17:24, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
WOW!! I did not expect you to write that much! Great great work! I'm actually logging off now, so I'll have a chance to read it all through later. Cheers! Cvene64 02:02, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hey again, just wanted t o say that you have done a really great job with the SF page, so thanks a lot for all your contributions, they are really appreciated. And soryr, I did'nt realise you were talking about the french wiki, so in that case I would say it is definantly acceptable, the english wiki has heaps of American, Australian etc clubs that play in low divisions, so I think it is ok. I have also been writing some history sections for some of the other clubs, such as Bayonne and Bourgoin, but they are pretty basic as I'am basically just describing their finals results, so yeah, check those out if you get any time. Cheers. Good luck with the France v All Blacks/Pumas games coming up, are you going to any? Cvene64 18:15, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hey, yeah I read about Umaga's debut. Hopefully Toulon can start winning a lot more games, as there was a lot of hype about the team this season. I'll be watch all the French Tests as well, as basically all the November Tests are on tv, so it should be great, and yeah the French are doing very well in the Heineken Cup at the moment. Cheers. Cvene64 07:14, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hey Beru, sorry to keep bothering you but could you please check if the away colours for Racing Metro 92 Paris are correct? Cheers. Cvene64 01:59, 1 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, thanks for fixing the colours, and wow, great work with rewriting the Racing Club history and identity! The page looks fantastic now. I started the Anthony Herbert article as well, and please let me know if there are any other articles you want created. Again, thanks a lot for putting so much work into French rugby articles. I worked on almost all of the Top 14 and some Pro D2 clubs the other day, writing history sections and so on, but there could be a few errors here and there as there is not a lot of resources in english on the internet. Keep up the great work! Cheers. Cvene64 06:33, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hi, yeah please do add that info to the page. Also, I noticed that someone (you?) recently rewrote the USA Perpignan page on the French wiki...do you think you could translate some of that to the English page? Cheers. Cvene64 13:20, 15 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for doing that. Goof work on the (fr) USAP, but don't worry about doing it for the English wiki, take your time, and just contribute whenever you want, no pressure, just whenever you feel like it. Cheers. Cvene64 07:11, 17 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, thanks very much for checking it over, I sometimes make a few errors and so on when writing the history sections. I was actually thinking about switching the strip to after History as well! Cheers. Cvene64 09:45, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Oh also, do you a reference is needed for supporters section, or will it be ok? Cvene64 09:48, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps you might want to add a reference? http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Challenge_Yves_du_Manoir has a reference, perhaps you can add it? An external link (website) would also be helpful. Good work!!--HamedogTalk|@ 04:39, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Probably keep it in the same article, unless it becomes to big.--HamedogTalk|@ 03:53, 22 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Top 14

[edit]

I reverted because the whole article had been deleted other than the section listing the finals. This was probably unintentional on the part of the editor rather than deliberate vandalism but it still needed to be reverted. I did not notice any change made to the details of the results.GordyB 13:05, 22 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:CABordeauxBègles.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:CABordeauxBègles.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Unspecified source for Image:CABordeauxBègles.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:CABordeauxBègles.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 15:44, 16 May 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Fair use rationale for Image:USCognac.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:USCognac.jpg. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. A tag has been placed on Olympique lyonnais requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Proposed deletion of Coupe de France (rugby)

[edit]

The article Coupe de France (rugby) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Completely lacks notability. The French wikipedia article also lacks sources. No source available.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
