Curlin

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I'm not sure if you are aware, but Wikipedia has various policies regarding the content of articles.

  • "Peacock" terms such as "amazing" or "astonishing" should not be used in an article.
  • Addition of unreferenced material on living persons is not allowed.
  • Refactoring of referenced material into unreferenced material with a different meaning that can be factually inaccurate can be construed as vandalism.
  • Addition of factually inaccurate statements is not allowed.
  • Wikipedia is not a place for speculation. Curlin has not yet been awarded Horse of the Year and there is no guarantee that he will be. Finalists have not been named and voting has not occurred.

For these reasons, I have reverted your edits on Curlin. --SmashvilleBONK! 20:35, 27 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Bill, I have checked my facts, which is why I reverted your edits. If you want to dispute commonly known and widely reported and referenced information, you're going to have to provide more recent reliable sources to contradict it. The fact of the matter is, though, that unless some secret second hearing took place...the facts haven't changed. The Curlin article is not an opinion piece and should have no "spin" put on it. --SmashvilleBONK! 15:41, 28 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You obviously didn't check the facts - try reading the following article. http://www.bloodhorse.com/articleindex/article.asp?id=41857

You also obviously haven’t checked the facts regarding the Breeders Cup race. Curlin passed Street Sense at, or about, the 1/4 pole not the far turn as you state. I have watched the race more than a dozen times - many of which in slow motion, what I have written regarding this where the pass toke place is a historical fact - not opinion.

As to stating the race he ran was a "stylish performance" and "in the race of the year, for horse of the year" these statements were direct quotes from the announcer of the race, which make them very relevant to the story - and by the way make him (an expert in horse racing) not me the one stating "Horse of the Year".

    • Bill, the article you provided shows no evidence that 20% interest was not awarded to the plaintiffs. As for the Street Sense portion, that was reverted with the rest of your edit. No where does it say he was passed in the far turn...it says he was passed before the final turn...the Street Sense edit is not what the problem is. The problem is that you continue to add edits that are contrary to Wikipedia policy. As I mentioned on my own talk page - Trevor Denman's race call is not a reliable source. The fact of the matter is that the HOTY finalists haven't even been named yet. Just because an announcer throws out a statement during a race doesn't make it fact...it has to come from a reliable source. And there won't be won because the awards haven't been given out yet. Again, the issue is not with the location of the pass...it is with every other edit you have made. --SmashvilleBONK! 17:47, 28 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Street Sense

[edit]

I reverted your inappropriate edit in the Street Sense article about the "apparent fear generated by Curlin" that I took as vandalism. They are your opinion and have no basis in fact. These were changes which, from you IP comments in the discussion, clearly came from you (Keycap (talk) 21:40, 28 November 2007 (UTC)).[reply]

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 20:40, 28 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
