2009 Camaro[edit]

The Camaro is a pony car, as it follows the formula created by the introduction of the Mustang, that is, a sporty design with a long hood, short rear deck, open mouth, unibody construction, built with off the shelf parts, wide range of options to customize, low entry price, and designed for the youth market. Even the new Camaro follows this same formula, regardless of the size engine available or power output, same as the current Mustang remains a pony car. The name itself derives from the "equestrian" name of the Mustang. The new Challenger is also a pony car, as are some foreign cars. The Camaro was conceived as a direct competitor against the Mustang in the pony car market, both in 1967 and today.

Conversely, a muscle car is a 2 door derivative of a 4-door family car available with large engine, using primarily full frame (not unibody) construction. Examples are the 60's/70's Pontiac GTO, Chevrolet Chevelle, Dodge Charger, Ford Fairlane, Buick Gran Sport, Olds 442.

This info is all direct from Wikipedia articles. I find it interesting that the Mustang and Challenger articles are both labled as pony cars, and yet only the Camaro has a battle over calling it a muscle car or not. Bias maybe? Bitemyshinymetalass78 (talk) 02:26, 25 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

December 2009[edit]

My username is an homage to the character of Bender from the animated show Futurama. I used it because most of the wiki editors seem to have his same level of disregard for most things, so I felt it appropriate. It's also his most often used quote from the show, broadcast on Fox, Adult Swim, FX, and currently Comedy Central.

Policies and guidelines[edit]

Thought you could use a list of policies and guidelines to read over. Thanks! roguegeek (talk·cont) 04:23, 26 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

3RR[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24-hour period. Additionally, users who perform several reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. When in dispute with another editor you should first try to discuss controversial changes to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. Should that prove unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. Please stop the disruption, otherwise you may be blocked from editing. roguegeek (talk·cont) 00:55, 27 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This account, Bitemyshinymetalass78, has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia, because your username is unnecessarily aggressive, and thus potentially disruptive in the context of editing disputes.

Your username is the only reason for this block. You are welcome to choose a new username (see below).

A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive, or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account.

Please choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines. However, do not create a new account if you wish to credit your existing contributions to a new name through a username change. To request a username change:

  1. Add {{unblock-un|your new username here}} below. You should be able to edit this talk page even though you are blocked. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "E-mail this user" on their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a list of names that have already been taken. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
If you feel that you were blocked in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first.

Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s):

Allowing username change to rx79gez8gundam (talk · contribs). Please put this request in at Wikipedia:Changing username as soon as possible to avoid re-blocking.

Request handled by: TNXMan 17:22, 27 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unblocking administrator: Please check for active autoblocks on this user after accepting the unblock request.

Please explain why my previous name was blocked when I already explained it's fair usage above.
Your user name was blocked because not everyone will recognise that it is a quote from Futurama. Those fellow users who do not recognise it as a quote could take it as provocatively offensive or/and disruptive. For further information on the user name policy please see WP:USERNAME. Also your unblock was granted for the purposes of filing a request for changing your user name. You really should not be editing other things while this matter is unresolved. delirious & lost~hugs~ 09:59, 30 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edits[edit]

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 22:31, 29 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked[edit]

You were unblocked 4 days ago specifically to allow for you to do the user name change. This means that you were to make a request as instructed in due course, not to continue to edit with the name. At this point it would be best to consider abandoning edits and creating a new account that isn't controversial, or re-request to actually do the change. Secondly, should you continue to edit on Wikipedia, you are advised to read up on the proper use of revert, so as to avoid edit war issues, which you clearly had at article Chevrolet Camaro (fifth generation). NJA (t/c) 17:28, 30 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Just to note, this user did file a request for change of name here. It just happened to have no activity for almost 3 days until JC noted about an hour ago that the account is again blocked . It might have just been missed by the bureaucrats. delirious & lost~hugs~ 20:39, 30 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Well it is holiday time for a lot of people, and unfortunately I missed the request. Regardless I would need the user to realise that they were meant to await the change to edit, as that was the only reason for unblocking. Also the user would need to acknowledge that their editing behaviour since the unblocking is troubling, and requires some discussion. NJA (t/c) 08:42, 31 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Whether by intent or coïncidence there were no edits made after my polite suggestion that that no more edits be made until the matter of the name change is resolved. (9.59 UTC, 30 December) I agree on the discussion of editing history, but that is between BMSMA78 and yourself or another admin. If only i had popped over to WP:CHU a day or two sooner. ;) delirious & lost~hugs~ 13:20, 31 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I apologize for my mistake, I did not know I could not continue to edit or my discussion over the article while awaiting my name change to be complete. I attempted to log in as my new name each time, but it had not yet been completed. It had been approved, and did not say I could not continue editing, only that it would handle changing my name on my edits for me. I did not realize I was effectively banned until someone got around to finishing the name change.

As for the edit war, I did read and follow the Wiki rules, and posted my references for my edits. Roguegeek was reverting my edits without posting his own references showing mine to be false, and had refused to state why. As for his charge of vandalism, I believe the Wiki stance is any edit made in good faith is never vandalism. Rogue was in the minority in the discussion, had overwhelming evidence against his position, and yet reported me for changing the article.Bitemyshinymetalass78 (talk) 17:51, 31 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm looking into this situation now. I can tell that you have good potential here, and would be willing to cooperate after an unblock. (X! · talk)  · @289  ·  05:55, 1 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
So how about we allow the name change by unblocking again, with the agreement that you will file for the name change and hold off on editing until then. Though, you must also agree that you've considered my concerns about disruptive editing (edit warring). Just reply here and me or another admin will do it for you. Thanks, NJA (t/c) 13:30, 2 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I will hold off on editing until the name change has been completed. I would appreciate for someone to tell me how Roguegeek isn't considered to have been edit warring for reverting my changes, given that I had posted references that were from more reliable sources (including the manufacturer of the topic item), and had specifically countered every one of his referencess with a directly contradictory one from the same source showing them to be unreliable.

  • You can now attempt the name change request. As for edit warring and 3RR, see WP:3RR. Essentially, one should not revert another's edits over and over again without discussion, except (generally) for clear vandalism. I'm not claiming the other party was completely innocent, but my concern with you is solely about you and not what other editors did. Do file for a name change request prior to resuming editing. Thanks. NJA (t/c) 09:59, 4 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
    • Regarding changing your username, two bureaucrats have declined your existing request. Both because your were at the time blocked, and the second also because your requested user name appears to be a long string of random characters. If you could select a different new user name that would likely speed things up in the change being processed. Cheers. delirious & lost~hugs~ 13:07, 4 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

rx79gez8gundam, as in RX-79(G) Ez8 Gundam, from Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team...But I guess that was somehow offensive to someone else now.

Thus far I have been successfully blocked by another editor for a username that falls within FCC decency guidelines and for making good faith reference supported changes to an article by another editor. I think it's pretty clear the wikipedia system is broken.

We're not here to argue with you, it simply needs to be addressed by you. Post your request and if it's a set of random looking numbers then explain why you'd like it so that it makes sense to the person handling the request. Essentially it's not the word ass, you could say Bitemyshiny(insert noun) and it'd still come off as potentially offensive. When Bender utter the words he wasn't using them as a pleasantry. Wikipedia is built upon discussion and collaboration, thus having a name that's even remotely standoffish is inappropriate. Does that make sense mate? Come up with something unique and non-abrasive for a name and get on with your request, or alternatively you can simply start editing as an IP. NJA (t/c) 22:13, 4 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I noted your explanation on the existing user name change and asked if there was a chance to get it reconsidered as to whether it is a violation of confusing usernames policy. I am not trying to be mean and neither is NJA. NJA worked with you regarding your editing & block and i am trying to work with you regarding your user name. I apologise if i have upset you. May i suggest reading through this nomination for adminship, Wikipedia:Requests_for_adminship/Shubinator, to get an idea on what other users have as their user names. Most users have a custom signature that is something other than plain blue text so you could just scan through for those. I am support vote 18. My user name is actually User:Deliriousandlost because "&" is not allowed in a user name for technical reasons. I hope this helps you.
If you want something related to Bender then perhaps User:Bender Of The Future. It is currently available.[1] delirious & lost~hugs~ 05:53, 5 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
