Help me! Article Pending Approval

[edit]

Help me with... My article is pending for a long time.. although I have added all the reference materials, official site link etc. This page needs to go live as the film is due for release in a month's time. Users would be searching for the film on Wikipedia & IMDB (We've already created IMDB page for the title.

Please let me know when it will be approved (How long approximately it'd take for an approval?)

Thanks a ton in advance

Hello. Unfortunately, the AFC (Articles for Creation) process is heavily backlogged, which is why it usually takes weeks until a submission is reviewed.. There is little that can be done about that. So I hope that answers your question.
Now, about your draft: I can tell you that at this point, the article will not pass the review and the submission will be declined. Some of the reasons are:
  • Your article does not make any claim of significance, and does not in any way establish why this film is notable. You can read more about notability for films here: WP:NFILM
  • You have external links in the main article text. You want to have most, if not all, external links in the "External links" section at the bottom, or use them as references.
  • References: At this moment, you do not have one single reliable source listed in your references. I can see 2 IMDb links (which are not reliable sources), 1 broken link, 1 link to a page that doesn't even mention your movie, and lastly, one link to a soundtrack listing of the movie. None of these help in any way to establish the notability of the article's subject.
  • Writing: Parts of the article are written in a way that is unacceptable by Wikipedia's manual of style. For instance: "and slated for release this August, 2014." must not be there unless there is significant and verifiable coverage for this. Also, the "The Appeal" section seems biased, and violated Wikipedia's policy for a neutral point of view.
Please believe me that I do not mean to discourage you, but in its current state, your article is not ready for inclusion on Wikipedia.
I hope to have answered your questions, and am thus closing your help request. If you have any further questions, feel free to open a new request. You can also message me directly on my talk page if you wish to do so. Cheers! ~ twsx | talkcont | ~ 08:21, 20 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended for publicity and/or promotional purposes. If you intend to edit constructively in other topic areas, you may be granted the right to continue under a change of username. Please read the following carefully.
Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, website or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not, although if you can demonstrate a pattern of future editing in strict accordance with our neutral point of view policy, you may be granted this right. See Wikipedia's FAQ for Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, organization, or clients. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit Wikipedia again.

What can I do now?

If you have no interest in writing about some other topic than your organization, group, company, or product, you may consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

If you do intend to make useful contributions here about some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} on your user talk page.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
    • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
    • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. the panda ₯’ 08:54, 21 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Hi, I was shell-shocked to see my account blocked. I saw your message that this is a promotional content but I verified other 'film' pages for instance, Avatar that followed similar pattern explaining the whole context of the film. So, I am not sure what's the exact promotional content there. It's a film about the community issue(Child labor, trafficking, Women rights) & for a cause. I don't think the content is in anyway desired to promote the film but to raise an awareness about the film. Users would soon search for the film & Wikipedia and IMDB are the most preferred sources of information. And, the name of the account I've created resembles the title name of the film , it's because I thought it's safe to keep the same name & one of my friends would also be contributing to the content. If this was the reason, I am willing to change my user name. My ignorance is not a crime but.. I'd learnt it the hard way. I've read whole lot of how-to help sections to learn the guidelines. I sincerely request you to re-consider the decision and if in anyway I am asked to change the content, I'd seriously look into it. But it's just that I am not sure what led to the account block here. I'd appreciate your help a lot. Thank You BlackHomeTheMovie (talk) 13:10, 21 May 2014 (UTC)21, May 2014[reply]

Decline reason:

Per the comments below by DangerousPanda. User names must not appear to represent an organisation or a product. Also, as stated below, accounts are for one user only. Even husbands and wives are not allowed to share passwords. As to the Draft, you should avoid statements like "Please support a cause to make people understand the seriousness of the issue. It’s high time. Let’s react now.". This may be a great film in a good cause, but that looks promotional. Also, please see WP:NOBLE - the rules apply to all, philanthropist or villain. Peridon (talk) 13:43, 21 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

I do hope that you're not suggesting that you will permit someone else to login to this account to edit! One person per account, that's why usernames MUST obviously relate to a single person, not an entity. Please carefully read: this userid is not permitted on Wikipedia, period. Every time you post/edit using this account, you're promoting that film. It may be renamed, but again, that does not mean you can continue making the same/similar edits....especially if you are at all related to the film.
Understand that it is extremely rare for a film to meet our notability standards for movies this far prior to its release. It may happen, but I have not reviewed the content - I'm only blocking for a) the username violation, and b) WP:COI/WP:PROMO. I understand that you've been getting assistance from User:‎JustBerry, and that's a good thing - I recommend continuing. However, it's quite possible that this film cannot be an article until such a time as well after its release the panda ₯’ 13:33, 21 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Your draft article, Draft:Black Home (film)

[edit]

Hello BlackHomeTheMovie. It has been over six months since you last edited your WP:AFC draft article submission, entitled "Black Home".

The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code. Please note that Articles for Creation is not for indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|Draft:Black Home (film)}}, paste it in the edit box at this link, click "Save page", and an administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. GamerPro64 02:48, 16 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
