experienced editor[edit]

Hi, I'm glad to see you contributing, and in the area of historic sites listed on the National Register of Historic Places, which I have most concentrated on. In the past I have enjoyed helping out new editors in this area. IMHO you are clearly an experienced editor, and I wonder why you are editing under a new account, though. I could give some tips on developing pages like the Captain H.P. Farrar House one, for example, but I don't want to waste time if I already might have done that with you under a different account name.

Sorry not to be entirely friendly here. Assuming you are an experienced editor, you should already know that using undisclosed multiple accounts a la wp:sockpuppetry is a kind of misdemeanor or even felony type crime in Wikipedia, whether it should be or not. Editing using multiple accounts is often an indicator, I'll say anyhow, that a given editor will be trouble, will be violating multiple other rules, and maybe the account(s) should be shut down and the person should be highly discouraged from participating in Wikipedia. If you are actually unaware of these types of issues, i offer to try to help you. If you do not want to take reasonable steps to avoid the appearance of being a bad actor though, beware. I wonder specifically if you are the same editor as User:Liviekitty33, for example, and FYI i am requesting that a possible connection be investigated. Again, sorry if i might be making an incorrect guess. I hope you will please reply, either way. sincerely, --Doncram (talk, contribs) 22:45, 1 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm, actually i see in a guidance page that "Whilst merely owning multiple accounts is permitted on the English Wikipedia, misuse of two or more accounts by the one individual—"abusive sock puppetry"—is in violation...". And as I don't see evidence of abuse, I won't request a technical investigation right now. But the possibility that you might be using multiple accounts has me alarmed, and I would advise that you choose not to, that you show understanding of difficulties caused, and that u disclose any alternate accounts you have used. --Doncram (talk, contribs) 22:53, 1 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your concern. I'm actually not an experienced editor, just a perfectionist with an academic background. I may have made some edits without logging into my account, but I do only have one account. If suspicion was aroused because my article was good, I'll take that as a compliment. In the future, if I choose to contribute, I will make sure that I am logged in. Please note that I have broken no rules since I did not "Log out to make problematic edits as an IP address." I was proud of my work and looking forward to doing more, but this is incredibly discouraging. With ample examples and guides, I did not realize a quality first attempt is so rare. Perhaps I should have written something of lesser quality, but I appreciate the work you do and did not want to burden users such as yourself with an article that needs many corrections. I would be happy to hear your tips on developing pages. Blake-wikis (talk) 15:09, 3 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
